Great video! I loved the part where you explained how the kiln works. It really helped me understand the process! Can't wait for your next upload! What inspired you to make this video?
Do you have a drain hose attached to the dehumidifier to keep it from shutting off? It would be interesting to see how much electricity is used to dry a stack of lumber and how much it costs.
Yes I do. It drains outside so it can just keep running. I think the dehumidifier runs a lot for the first week, maybe two, but then not so much. If I set it on continuous it will get down too 10% (or less) relative humidity, which is too dry. The lowest I can set it to maintain is 30%, so that is usually where have it set. Maybe I will do a cost analysis video. It would be relatively straight forward to calculate some ballpark numbers. Although it would be hard to put a dollar amount on the convenience of being able to do it myself, right off the mill, without handloading, and done in 3 weeks.

No problem!
Why can't you just blow dry the wood
Maybe I'll try that next time. I hear that's how they do it in the hood.

I think your insulation is going to get wet and mold .
Are you thinking it will get wet from condensation? Don't you think the dehumidifier will suck all that moisture out?
@@craftzmanchris9859 If you have ever been in a kiln they are extremely humid until the wood is dry .
