I lived very near there from 1992 to 1994 (Spangdahlem Air Base). I didn't realize then how much I would miss this beautiful country! I wish I could go back. Beautiful place! We used to go to Trier almost every weekend.
Nice video, I like the Moselle so it is on my travel plans. Was it a boat trip through the Moselle or were you just visiting Trier? I am interested in the boat companies that do the Moselle starting in Koblenz or Cologne.
Hello Tridhos, Thank you for your kind comments. No this was not a boat trip but just a few days in Trier for a birthday treat. It is a very nice place as it was the seat of the Roman Empire in this part of the world, so there are many Roman remains. We have taken a boat trip along the Moselle, in fact the trip covered 4 rivers (Rhine, Moselle, Main and Necker), which started and ended in Andernach. A video of this is on my channel list if you wish to view it. I don't know where you are based but Viking River Cruises are quite popular, thou' we have never travelled with them. Some friends of ours took a trip this year from Amsterdam to Basel, which they really enjoyed (with Viking). One trip you may like to consider is one from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Really wonderful and whilst Russia gets a bad press the country and its people are very interesting. Again there is a video of this on my channel list. I hope this answers your questions but if you have anything else I can assist with please don't hesitate to ask. Regards - Roy Murray
Mr Roy Murray I am based in UK and my next two cruises are the South of France and then from Basel to Amsterdam next year. Then I plan on doing the Moselle. The only river cruise I have done is with Scenic and I was very well pleased with that. At my age it was very relaxing and enjoyable. Now I am hooked on river cruising and there are still a few rivers in Europe such as the Elbe in Germany and a few in France that I also wish to cruise on. I guess after that I would love to do the Moscow to St Petersburg. Thanks for your reply and the useful information.
The river is not far from the city centre. If you look again at my video, at 25 seconds from the beginning, you have a view of the river with the city in the background. This gives you a good idea of the distance between the city and the river. From the market square I would say it is about a 10 -15 minute walk max to the river. I hope this helps you. Regards Roy
been looking at pics and films mostly from mar of 45, My father was here with US when they captured this town and was hoping to see him in pics I know this is new film, its still a great looking town, but it is a shame what war does to such a place, always wondered how a leader who loved his country and also would cause so much destruction of what he loved, I want to head here one day to see this place and a couple more where he was before being wounded near the Rhine /prum area. he wrote about this in a small diary he kept.

Thank you for posting this video. From the city center is a walk to the river doable? Do you have an idea how far it I'd?
How far from the city market square to the river?
