Jordan Peele's Get Out was a huge hit in S.Korea. look up the box office gross record, S.Korea was #2 with U.S being #1. explain that to CNN and Disney.
Black Panther once topped the box office in Korea. Koreans think that Black Panther's main character should be Black. If Disney announces that it will replace the main character of Black Panther with an Asian Korean character, Koreans will not like the movie and will not think that the main character is appropriate. This is because Koreans think that the main character of Black Panther should be black, not asian korean,
Personally I completely agree with what one of the ladies said. When you go to the Disney movies you expect to see your childhood memories come to live. more so if it is your favorite childhood character. Lost of countries have their own princess, Merida (Scotland), Elsa and Anna (Norway), Belle (France), Rapunzel (Germany), Mulan (China), Tiana (US), Maribel (Colombia)., Ariel (Denmark), and so on. Changing the race for the main lead and even the story line will upset a lot of fans for sure. To see Ariel with dark skin tone (and the dry clay hair color) is as hard as seeing Tiana blonde or Mulan latin. Why just no create new princess or new characters instead?
That argument doesn’t even work. Tiana and Mulan are characters that are both based in a specific area, time, and culture. How in the hell would that even make sense?

Even before Korea knew the existence of people of color, they preferred white skin as a symbol of wealth. White people are not described as white people, but as red people. Koreans don't like white people's weak, freckled skin. I like clear and clean skin without blemishes. IN OTHER WORDS! There is also a document from the Goryeo Dynasty that the preference for white skin in Korea is not caused by white supremacy, but because it is a symbol of wealth. In other words, white skin means that you have wealth to live on without going outside and farming or working, and this symbol has only continued to the present day.
Notice that none of the Koreans are demanding 'representation' for themselves or Asians in general, none of them had a problem getting into the orginal Ariel . . . if wokeness is right, shouldn't they be crying racism that Ariel isn't Asian?
One of the interviewees complained how Disney deviated too far and then suggested that a better fit would be an asian from a k pop group. What? 😂 That is some dissonance right there.
Not sure why this poped up a year later. but I can assure that when they talked about the image of Ariel, it is not just black and white. It is the image of young, vibrant, and innocent girl who does not know outside the sea and full of curiosity. I am tired of some people using racism over everything like a weapon to attack. The actress just looked old and not pure or innocent like how Ariel is in the story at all. But these girls wouldn't say that because it is mean. No offense, I do not look like Danielle myself, either.
I’ll just be satisfied if Disney doesn’t “represent” East Asians anymore Rather than being happy to see the Asian mermaid who came out as Ariel’s sister, it was really bizarre. Which by the way the idea of american companies “represent” asians is so wierd I can’t understand why Hollywood is so obsessed with weird things like that.
Thank you for saying this. I would prefer they invest in production houses in different countries where people can tell their own stories. No more Hollywood telling other peoples stories for the sake of forced diversity, inclusion, and or mass appeal.
Even if racism is the reason it flopped, I still don't understand Disney's point. They're a business selling a product to an audience. If the audience is racist, then what's the point of selling them something they don't want and complaining about the reason they don't want it. Whatever the reason they don't want it, the fact remains they don't want it.
the business nowadays is not about selling the product. It is about pushing the product and convince the audience that the product is good. If they can pull this off then they can secure sales for every kind of product in the future no matter how lazy and bad it is. That is how Disney do business today. Well, it's business nonetheless.
Racism vs discrimination vs beauty standards and preferences. Royals in Asian series are usually fair in complexion because in Asia especially in ancient times the elites didn't have to work out in the sun and everywhere they went they had servants holding umbrellas for them and what not. If TLM live action had all black characters in it, people probably could accept it more. But with a mix of whites and blacks and Asians in a European setting mashed up as the Caribbean it's just too weird. A lesson for Americans that it's a big world out there, each country with its own characteristics and values and perceptions, etc.
The animation Little Mermaid is magical and live is not magic. It's a completely different thing . Danielle's Korean version of Part of your World is the coolest thing I have heard in years and I dont know Korean.. She with her beautiful voice and empathy, caught Ariels personality from the original perfectly. Everyone in the world who has seen Danielle sing, thinks she would actually make a great Ariel 😊 The original was loved, making a live version just might not be magical.🎉

The color doesn't matter. Korea was 2nd in Worldwide Box office for Black Panther and 1st for Get Out. Halle Bailey just didn't fit the Original image and ppl denied her as Ariel. It's not because we can't see the beauty in Black Women either because Beyonce was and is the Goddess and Halle Berry was Hot during her prime. First of all, as a Korean, Koreans don't discriminate against black movies at all. If Koreans were racist, movies like Black Panther would not be popular in Korea at all, right? However, Black Panther movies have been a huge hit in Korea, and I want you to know that Koreans are not racist based on this fact. Then I will tell you the reason why Koreans are angry because of the little mermaid. Do you admit that the previous Disney movies, such as The Lion King and Aladdin, were amazing in sync? It was a hit in Korea, too. We would have really cheered if we had cast an animation like Princess and Frog as black. Think about it. Wouldn't you be angry if a white Obama came out when you said you made a movie of President Obama? You understand what I mean? It's not racism, it's a character synchronization problem. And now the Little Mermaid has failed not only in Korea but also in other countries. I think it is a very unreasonable argument to blame the reason why the Little Mermaid failed at the box office on racist Korea.

SK had the 2nd highest tickets sales so why are they along with China bring labeled as the bad guys or racist? Why aren't ppl asking India why they had low ticket sells for the movie or Middle Eastern countries (they're on the Asian continent) but it's East Asians that stays to be labeled as racist..SK did better than the Philippines where China wasn't too far behind with their sales.
The main reason why far east Asian don’t want to watch that movie is because we don’t give a damn about the “woke” thing . Its not about the race , it’s about originality.
I remember watching Cinderella as Brandy I had no problem with her being Cinderella and the prince being Asian while his mom is black and dad is white the story it was well made not like the little mermaid live it’s a mess Disney dressed up Halle as a slave the ugly light blue dress while Vanessa gets a gorgeous gown
True. Plus another reason why more ppl accept the Brandy live action is because Diseny STILL has the 2015 Cinderella that looked like the cartoon character. That way everybody wind. However with Halle, it’s only one version. Many ppl wanted to see the original Ariel brought to life.
If Ariel had been played by a red-haired white actress and the original charm was not conveyed, leading to a sense of blandness, it would have received harsh criticism
I kind of disagree with the guy saying that Disney did this movie not for profit. All corporations listed (or wanting to get listed) in a stock exchange only care about profitability. Especially when the executives have share-based compensations. I am sure Disney didn't want to go through the process of finding an actual african fairytale/folklore to adapt just to cut cost and maximize profits (since the scene-by-scene adaptations had proven to be insanely profitable even with the lack of creativity). They forget that these local fairytales represent the culture of where they're from. If they're really trying to promote representation, they should've made an original story adapted from any african literature. Instead, they chose to prey on nostalgia and sensationalize casting a black actress in a story based on a Scandinavian fairytale. (The little mermaid literally has a statue in Copenhagen.) This was such a missed opportunity. Most of the world is not familiar with any African literature, so I had hoped Disney would have introduced it (at least the kid appropriate version) to a young generation like how it introduced me to Greek mythology from watching Hercules, 1001 Arabian Nights from Aladdin, and Grimm's fairytales from Snow White.
I agree they had the perfect opportunity to really bring forward a new story that could have even connected The Little Mermaid with a whole new story that gave real representation. They could have given a black mermaid who introduced Ariel to the human world while telling the audience about African tales. It really blows my mind at the sheer laziness they have towards the minority populations and giving real representation.
Cut costs? This movie cost disney 250 on just production to make. Lazy? They gave you a new spin on the Prince, new songs. While also keeping with the animated film. The sheer attention to detail in the movie. The very fact you blast them for thier choice of lead while eluding to African culture. while trying to veil it under lazy and cheap is more telling of you - you very literally made it about race and culture, disney only presented you a product - and you ran with the narrative about culture. To be fair the original animation deviated from the fairytale for the mermaid and unsupringsly people didnt make a stink about it...
@@gmiller863 you are on a video where people are calling others racist because it didn't do well in other countries. The movie was super dark and overall gloomy, the music was weird and didn't make sense. Don't even get me started on the prince and the story plot was pointless. The main characteristics of the little mermaid are the bright, fun and colourful settings, the engaging songs, the awkward challenges of being young and finding love. People who loved the movie loved it for what it was if Disney really cared about the movie they wouldn't have butchered the way they did. There are so many people who can see the issues with this movie and the cast part is only a small factor in this. When it comes down to the race issues we want more REAL representation and stories that can actually help with making more connections for everyone.
@@informationgatherer4970 couple of things here - A. the original commenter hurled accusations at Disney, not others. Last I checked this was the first one and Last I checked the plot, characters and story line significantly changed from the fairytale to the animation. you made it about race, not Disney - Observing how Bailey sang "like an angel," Marshall knew right away he wanted to have her audition for the part of Ariel. She was the first person who tested for the role, and that included singing "Part of Your World" in person, a performance that moved the director to tears.

I still stand by that Disney needs to create stories about other cultures and give better representation. Peace ✌️
this movie is just sad. Nobody realized Ariel's sisters race? Either the dad (King) is a very naughty boy when young, or how on earth Ariel can have sisters who are basically from all different races on earth? How are you going to explain that to a kid watching a movie? There's basically 3-4 different ethnics shown as Ariel's sisters. It's like a freaking united nation family there. Duh!
I feel the same. If you really pay attention to what she does and says, she is just a self-entitled person saying she's doing this to represent the black community but actually it's all about her. Btw her brown orangey dreadlocks look awful. So the little mermaid is now black with horrible hair and looks nothing like Ariel. Why would I want to watch this movie when the original is so much better?
This whole woke thing is just becoming a joke now. Same goes to Disney. I grew up loving Disney movies and to get to an age where you start to see Disney ruining all of their beloved characters one by one is just sad. At this point, I really couldn’t care anymore. If Disney doesn’t care, why should I? Like…how am I supposed to watch this movie and call that thing Sebastian or Flounder? How are you expecting the audience to form any type of emotional bond with whatever those creatures are supposed to be?
As a Korean and a long-time Disney fan, I wanna write my opinion. As Korea is a homogeneous nation, our reactions to skin color are often related to 'UNFAMILIAR' rather than discrimination. This is not simply about which race is superior. For example, if an African American doesn't receive proper service at a beauty salon in Korea, this is not discrimination, but because we do not know better. That's why I think we need time and interaction. Returning to the Little Mermaid, Disney has been monetizing the young, curious, and lively image of Ariel for decades. However, as a way to solve the problem of discrimination in current American society, casting people who do not fit the characters they have created for decades and accusing those who can't accept this of being racist is an extremely malicious act. I think it's like the malicious behavior of bad politicians trying to divert attention by creating conflict between different groups of people rather than solving the problem. People with vested interests who have a sense of historical debt to African Americans allow a African American actress to play the role of ARIEL with red hair and say, "We're okay with that, but they don't like it! They're bad." It's like this. This is not an action to solve the problem, but to avoid their own mistakes by creating another conflict. If a 40-year-old Asian woman plays the role of 'Hannah Montana', should we all just shut up and accept it? I even know that there are so many young, pretty, and talented African-American actresses. Giving this role to Halle Bailey, who is in her mid-20s, can only be considered a move in anticipation of such conflict. They had to reflect on the past full of white princesses and create a new story without prejudice. This is why I'm passionate about the movie Soul. I believe that art, especially movies, should comfort people and make them happy, and should not be used as a tool by someone else.
I don't agree that Koreans don't see the Little Mermaid for racist reasons. The following is the discussion on the overall racial issues surrounding Koreans by combining the opinions of not only me but also other friends. 1. Expressing diversity is good, but respect the original. - I remember enjoying watching "Moana". If Disney had created a new platform based on Zulu folk tales or ancient Ethiopian princesses and made a live-action film, instead of "The Little Mermaid," set in medieval Europe, why would we reject the film. Black Panther succeeded in Korea. 2. Koreans usually don't have much sense of debt to racism. We don't have a history of racial persecution of blacks. So Asians often find the racist discussion surrounding the Little Mermaid absurd. Rather, racism against Asians is used casually as a humor material. Something like Dick is small (sibal, that's not true). 2. Koreans have a strong nationalistic tendency. - This is the historical reason why there was not much interaction with other races. Perhaps that's why even today, expressions of different races cannot keep up with international trends. But this doesn't mean racism. For example, Koreans sometimes call it "heuk-hyung" to respect the physical and cultural superiority of blacks over other races as Slang. "Heuk" means black, and "Hyung" means brother. These words are sometimes used when you see black people who are incredibly good at basketball or black people who are good at singing. In countries like the United States, where interactions between different races are active, they're probably referred to as "friends" or "people" who are good at basketball or singing. It is true that further improvement is needed in the future. Also, a foreigner who visited Korea before (I remember him as a U.S. soldier in Korea, but maybe not) felt racist insults at the expression "Ni-ga" and had a physical fight with Koreans. Unfortunately, it was caused by a misunderstanding. This is because in Korean, Ni-ga means "you did" or "you are" instead of "nigga," a slang for black people. 'Ni' is 'you' and 'ga' is a linguistic part that connects the subject in front. As such, there is a misunderstanding or need to be improved in terms of expression, but I wanted to let you know that even Koreans' "thinking" is sometimes misrepresented to overseas interviewers due to racism.
At least I can respect the general Korean reason. Have your preferences fine; but there is no reason to get red faced over a damn cartoon like people do in America over here.

It’s it just fascinating that what people have been saying for YEARS about race swapping Ariel being a bad idea now being proved correct? Forget the “scientific evidence” of what race mermaids are, or “according to the original book,” or whatever thing people say to justify why a black Ariel is a bad idea, when in reality, the simple reason is SHE DOES NOT LOOK LIKE ARIEL! It’s that simple and Korea and China are telling us that!!! And to those who say, “Ariel is a fictional character. She can be whatever race because she’s not real and mermaids aren’t real.” Well look where that mindset has gotten you. The biggest film consumers hate it! The most foreign money this movie has received is from the UK, another country who somewhat has the same idealism as the USA. But guess what, the rest of the world doesn’t agree, and Disney is losing big because of it. Basically, I bet somewhere the actor that plays Aladdin is laughing his head off because everyone bullied and harassed him when he said The Little Mermaid won’t make it to $1 billion.
Good interviews. This is a much better source for real information than anything the mainstream media can provide these days. Nice job... Hope "the powers that be" make note of it, and stop crying racism at every turn. We are now at the point that the word has become utterly meaningless.

Im not racist. But The New Little Mermaid to much changes . Starting from long red hair, to braddet brown hair, bright tone of skin to tanning skin, To much changes make my childhood memories down. Realty wrong for the remade. I think Princess caspia a bit similar like Ariel.
Anytime you race swap a character, it is racism. Whenever you say that an original character is the wrong color and needs to be 'fixed', it is racism. DEI departments, ESG scores and the Bechtel Test is racism. Erasure of a race is racism. Hollywood this year has erased many classic IP characters, who were the wrong color. Tinkerbell, Astrid and Ariel, all originally with the immutable characteristics of having blonde hair and blue eyes. (Yes, the Little Mermaid had blonde hair originally in the book).
I honestly can say this with my mother' name. I would be mad at Diseny if they casted Korean actress to white characters like Snow White, Belle, Elsa, etc. without acceptable reasons, and blame the actress who got the role.
@@Gaia_Seraphina I know it, but there were several differenct actresses who played as Snow White like Christine Stuart in Snow Whites and Huntsman. Therefore, I added Snow White as one of example.

The reason most of us Asians are not watching this remake of The Little Mermaid is not because of skin color, but because of the actor's bizarre appearance.
The film was just bad... Halle is beautiful and sings like an angel, but it stills a really bad film. Not watching it is not racism ( I'm mixed, brown skin, curly hair and didn't like it) is just not wanting to destroy the memorys that we have from the original. ps: Sorry for my english.
Race/Gender-swapping in movies just suck. If Blade was swapped to an Asian dude...Ide be pissed! If cyclops was a woman...Ide be mad too! What if Shrek was changed to a pig and Donkey was changed to a Bird?...thatd be weird. Im mexican...but ide be pissed off if Batman was a Mexican dude with a big moustache and spoke Spanish 😆
They name that part of the reason they didn't watch it was because Disney is trying to be "Too PC." What does that mean? What makes it too PC except that the main character changed color?
I know grown adults who weren't even thought of yet when society at large finally got sick of people crying racism when they don't get their way. I actually like the idea of a Mermaid who looks like the mermaid in the movie. That might have made a good film based on the real historical myths behind mermaids. But blackwashing the little mermaid for no other reason than to backwash it was probably not a very good choice. BTW. You should ckeckout Metatron's video about blackwashing Cleopatra when there were ACTUAL black female heroes who were successful against Rome that they could have made a film about in stead and probably even been more interesting. I have native American ancestry. If they made a film portraying Sherlock Holmes or George Washington as a native American, i'd be pissed. Well, unless they made it a novelty film with a clear stance that it's pure novelty. Had Disney taken that rout i don't think anyone would be complaining. That said, i am with the Koreans about the overall gloomy nature of the film. It's not just how aerial looks. In fact, that doesn't bother me personally at all. It's setting an entirely different tone. Again, not a bad idea overall, but not as a Little Mermaid entry.
Just as the black actor in Black Panther deserves respect, so does the redheaded protagonist in The Little Mermaid. Ripping out only the black actors from Black Panther and adding Korean actors will not revive respect for Asians and human rights awareness, and no Korean who loves the original Black Panther will be happy about it. If we wanted to change the Little Mermaid's race and take on a truly new challenge, we had to have original characters and an original story that were much more complete and convincing than what we have now. But in 2023, The Little Mermaid is the exact same story as the animation from 30 years ago, only throwing out the ginger white Ariel and making a lazy movie that just changed her skin color. This movie, which is exactly the same as the story from 30 years ago, gives the feeling of kicking out the old protagonist from his home. Even if the main character of The Little Mermaid in 2023 had been a Korean actor instead of a black actor, he would have felt the same sense of deprivation. This feeling is expressed as 'Koreans are racist.' Is it right to say that?
Remember the outcry in China then they cast a black guy as a stormtrooper in the force awakens. They couldn’t even have the guy in the promo posters out there.
Ppl just boycotted this bc Disney was forcing a performative angle by carrying Halle who imo is not the right fit to begin with. Halle is a terrible choice for this. She very generic and boring. If she had more charisma maybe the film would’ve done better. Her skin color could have hurt but it’s Halle who was just boring and has no star quality.
I love watching idris elba the dark tower and wesley snipes blade because they are the original character that they represent.racism isn't the problem for little mermaid but the storyline that are stray from the original.
Black Panther was biggggggggggg hits in S.Korea and the movie. Get Out. It might not the main reason why Little Mermaid did not perform well because of the color of the main charactor skin color.
Think about it, could a Marvel movie cast someone as Captain America who couldn't speak a word of English, even if they were an American citizen? "This is a matter of identity, not racism."
I just saw trailer. I not familiar with 'the Little Mermaid.' Bailey definitely look like she capable in 'fantasy' movie world, carry this picture. Like it easy to go into fantasy realm, while watch her as Ariel. I like how Disney accuse Korean and Chinese of racism, cuz Disney back the finish product. A lot of people from Korea/China go because they wanna see a beautiful black girl, with very soft, pretty, watery feature. Maybe they no go if Ariel red hair and white. Majority of movie goer in Korea/China wanna see Ariel, the way she in original. It kinda 'Aquaman.' I read 'Aquaman' comic for many many year. And although I like Mamoa, take me a while get used to 'Aquaman' actor not look like 'Flash Gordon.' As a kid, I compare what i see in comic, and I think Flash Gordon and Aquaman similar in appearance, so they similar character. Anyway. I think I gonna watch this movie. Wish I know it release, already.
Well I loved the Korean girl that moaned about Halle not being right because she didn’t look like the cartoon version and then proceeded to say that a Korean actress looked more like Ariel and was more suitable for the role.
I didn't watch this movie since it doesn't look like it does anything different. I don't hate the movie cause I am racist I just want something different
I’m sorry I’m so sorry I have to say this. It is so obvious that it is because Ariel is a black character. People can sugarcoat all they want but let’s admit Black people are one of the most hated race on this planet and psychologically you can read responses and negative thoughts because of Ariel‘s character being black. It is all about race. These people can go around the bush all they want to because the other live action, Disney movies sucked especially Aladdin. Princess jasmine did not look like princess jasmine. I didn’t hear anything about anything else and all these other live action movies. Beauty and the beast was dark as well. Nobody mentioned nothing about that. I’m telling you these people think they are fooling us. We know the real reason why they are so critical about the specific movie and their characters. They are so detailed of the criticism regarding this movie. Every little pinpoint issue they bring up, which really isn’t a big deal to me as an American. I think it is sad the way this is has influenced other countries.
I'm a Korean. I am neither racist nor lookist. However, I am a big fan of Ariel in the anime. I was fascinated by the red hair, the lovely face, and the pure song. And when I heard about Harley's casting, I was very disappointed. Is it a sin to want my favorite pretty character to appear in a live-action film? Everyone is missing something important. This movie is a live action movie. Live-action filming must be filmed in real life as in the animation. Red hair, white skin, and lovely looks. I should have seen Ariel's signature traits in this movie as well. It doesn't even try to match the anime, so this is destroying the original and deceiving the fans. People like me who became fans of her lovely looks were ignored. It's not a sin to like pretty things. It's not a sin to want that to be maintained in the new movie either. At least she should have had red hair. However, to wear reggae hair as a black identity is an act that really destroys Ariel's original character. The Little Mermaid is a children's fairy tale and does not exist for racial equality. There is nothing wrong with "white beauty" per se. What we have to do is to accept appearance and race as they are, not to say that ugly is pretty and race is unconditionally the opposite.
Halle Bailey IS beautiful, her brown skin IS beautiful, and her hair in the film IS beautiful. You obviously know nothing about ethnic hair, since ours is extremely versatile and yours is probably limited. Ugly is indeed subjective.
@@audreabrown8775 he is talking about the red hair, white skin. If you see movie about the president Obama, but he is handsome white man, are you going to watch it? I am not.
for me saying Little mermaid use black people it's fine if match well but not match even so dark vibe . I feel Disney more racist bc make film more darker
I loved the movie. I really could care less how other cultures perceive or accept Black ppl or this movie. I took my 4 year old niece and she was mesmerized by the movie. It was every little Black girl’s dream come true. Not only because she’s Ariel but bc she is a mystical character. If we based our enjoyment or our pursuit of things that are out of the norm, change will never occur. It may seem like political correctness to some of you, and frankly it may be on some level, but the end justifies the means. Because that day, the day I saw the pure excitement and joy on my niece’s face before and after we saw the film canceled out all of the fake outrage and negativity from others, who seem to find joy in only seeing pale skin represented in beautiful mystical characters. Enjoyed the movie and plan on buying it when it’s available 😊
I'm sorry, but stop saying trash ok imagine if they made Mulan an African or Elena of avalor British. If you are looking for a black role model Tiana is there, if you need more you ask Disney for more of that rather than give woke films that have true heritage. Wake up girl
You can like this film it’s fine but there are TWO sides to e dry story. Ariel didn’t need to be face swapped to represent blacks. They can make new ORIGINAL stories with a black Princess.
Country that enslaved black people: USA / Country with most severe racial discrimination still: USA. Yet now, Americans accuse Asians of discrimination, saying they don't watch "The Little Mermaid." Quite amusing. We don't care about your skin color. Don't pretend to be good, Americans. And don't blame us. It's not about race for us; it's about mismatched cartoon characters and protagonists. Personally, I don't dislike this actor.

They are being very kind in this video, but dark skin (Even though Halle isn't dark) is not considered pleasing in most Asian countries. That is why skin belching is a high demand market there. So, the fact that Halle was casted and Black woman, was a put off for most of them from the start. All this, *the film didn't look like the OG, and was too dark.* is just because Halle is Ariel. Even the one girl who actually saw the film liked it. So funny how the other's who haven't seen it have such strong opinions. As for Black Panther, it was set in Africa, so they expected to see black people. But not the Little mermaid. No way could she ever be black. With is funny because all of us non withe people grew up with her as a white princess and loved her! Ever though she didn't look like any of us. Yet we all can't love her now reimaged if she is black.
I have to disagree with you on that, Sun Tanning business in Korea is booming, they do it to get the dark skin. Just search how many tanning salon is in Korea. There are so many. It is all booked, you have to make a reservation. If they are so into white skin, why would they go tanning. You are maybe talking about other asian country with darker skin tone, Koreans naturally have very pale skin, so they like darker skin, not all but a lot of them. I am amercian living in Korea, so I have experienced both culture.
She looks nothing like OG Ariel would you be okay if she was black then turned white? In fact the original author describe The Little Mermaid as white. There was even a little black girl who claimed she was not Ariel
@@Rachet87-yp7qq She was clear in the story, didn't have red hair and her name wasn't not even Ariel. Are you upset Disney made those changes in the beginning? @@britneypage7342”doesn’t matter if one little girl” errant wrong! It’s been more than 1 little girl plus that video of her has TONS of likes and has been shared everywhere, millions agree with her. Now there’s NOTHING wrong with having a black Diseny Princess. Afterall they did Tiana. But Ariel was ALREADY an established character like all the OTHER princesses so why is it so hard for you to understand other ppls perspectives? There plenty of room for Diseny to make NEW story of a black mermaid. It’s not fair to OG Ariel fans. In the OG Mermaid story as you said her skin was LIGHT. Which means NOT black. How come all the other live action princesses stayed the same but Ariel couldnt? NO ONE knew Ariel would be black. We just knew a remake was coming before they announced the cast. Prior to that, we all would just assume Ariel would mirror the cartoon. So even if this doesn’t bother you, it’s not like you asked for it years ago. Again Ariel fans are allowed to want continuity in Ariel. It’s not wrong at all. They grew up with her and want to see it brought to life. Race swapping is a lazy way for black representation. Just create new stories. Either way, this remake will never be as iconic as the original. It doesn’t have the best reputation anyway. But if you enjoyed it cool. That’s fine
"race is not the issue" but it is after all... Because everything is about the color of the actress who plays Ariel. Giving lame excuses as she doesn't fit the main characteristic of Ariel which is, let's remember, her voice and her curiosity for the human world and not her skin color. The one saying that it is her favorite Disney anime and that she read the tale, saying that the character is different while the two works she quoted are already differents from each others. It's 2023, and it's really heartbreaking that people are still talking about skin color whereas these are the same people who will say that they don't see colors(they're colorblind). A lot of people didn't watch it but gave bad reviews how sick they must be to do that. No wonder why the world is such a mess
no, it is way too dark compare to the original, even soundtrack is scary. So that is why I am not watching it, it has nothing to do with race. If ariel was really pretty innocent black girl with red hair, with similar innocent vibe through out the movie, People won't had a problem.
Changing the skin color of a 30 year legacy character was dumb people in various countries did not like it cause that was NOT Ariel. Its sick they blame their own failure on viewers
Disney had done so many twists, especially when Ariel killed Ursula of which it should be Prince Eric who killed Ursula in the original story. Their twists could have worked if they change the title.
We just don't give a shit about races. We care about the history and origin. We don't want weirdly arranged Asian princesses either. Why can't you leave the originals alone??
Let's say Black Panther was played by a white guy. Are you going to pay to watch the movie? If I don't watch a movie because Wakanda's leader is white, do I discriminate against white people? This has nothing to do with racism. It's a matter of whether it makes sense or not. If you guys want to turn Superman into a black man, I'll boycott the movie because it doesn't make sense. That's not because I'm racist.
That’s a terrible argument considering Wakanda is a fictional place, based in a specific continent and specifically on culture and countries in Africa 😂😂😂
@@audreabrown8775 Why can't a white man be a king if Wakanda is in Africa? You're saying that in certain countries and regions, certain races should be kings. That's what we call a terrible argument. In terms of political correctness, people like you are racist. 😊😊😊
Just looking at the most used word by Koreans as a derogatory term for this movie, "흑어공주(the black fish princess)", the racially discriminatory intentions of Koreans are evident.
It makes me so cringe to see media trying to make it sound like we just hate black ppl. We just want characters to look like how we remember them from out childhood. Noone would mind original black disney princess or character

Just to add more many of my korean friends did not like her acting after she lost her voice and i think its because her lack of experience in acting also there are many other darker skin colored actresses who can sing act and look better than her
So if it were a black actress she had to be the best of the best. The best actress, the best looking and the best singer. Yet any old white girl would have been perfect. Emma Watson is not the best actress, nor the best looking, nor the best singer yet she was fine for Belle. Halle is a very competent singer by the way.
@@shanghaichicadoesn’t matter Halle looks nothing like Ariel. If you think vocals justify it that’s your opinion. All the other princesses got to look like the cartoon so why not Ariel? Seems unfair to Ariel fans. I told this to someone else and I’ll tell you. Back in like 2018 when a live action TLM was announced no one knew Ariel would be black. So even if this doesn’t bother you, it’s not like you asked for it yourself. Even at Diseny parks the OG Ariel is getting replaced with the new one. So sad. Halle can sing but honestly there are better vocalists out there. But she sings good enough. I personally think her sister is better.
Truth be told I believe disney is a marketing genius for stirring up controversy so people will actually talk about them and also bandwagons to re-watch this movie just to not feel racist and support a black Ariel. Because some of their better original works weren't even getting as much recognition recently due to people are just getting tired of Disney. Also Disney purposely wasted a huge amount of their money on marketing the New little mermaid movie while some of their better original works got little to no marketing budget and only got noticed after being released on Disney plus. Disney just want to create some controversy just to remain noticed and relevant in today's movie market. Doesn't even matter if they don't make as much money in certain countries because they still making money domestically and in certain European countries due to politics anyway. But hey that's the truth evil anyway. Proving racism does exist but not because of China or Korean but Disney themselves at making Halle Bailey a new up and coming black actress a target of controversy fully aware the impact it will cause. Plus actually still refusing to add actual black cultural characters but just white washing a black actress to play a famous European folk character for clout. This is why they suck at representation of cultural accuracy from Pocahontas, Hercules, Mulan etc. And the closest thing to African was Tarzan or The Lion King.
Korean have no history of creating conflicts with other races. It is discrimination against Korean to assume that Korean will do the same thing with racism occurring in your country.
Exactly!!! Thank you! I don't understand why foreigners keep trying to put their own issues onto Koreans, who have a completely different way of thinking & viewing things, based on their own history, culture, and society. Just as westerners (especially Americans) don't think the same as Koreans, Koreans DO NOT think the same as westerners!!! I've heard very few Americans EVER be able to talk with any real knowledge & understanding feelings, informatively, correctly, or deeply, about Korean's sentiments against the Japanese, but then they all expect every thought Koreans have about even a black actress or African-American musician, to be of this "woke" mindset, according to American or western standards, when Koreans were NOT involved at all whatsoever, with any of that part of black or African-American's (etc.) history of slavery and other awful discrimination in the west. Frankly, it's a very self-centered and closed minded way of thinking (imho).
If image is part of the issue, how does Danielle look more like Ariel than Halle? The racism and gaslighting is nauseating. And you perpetuating it is shameful.
@@INTPJay6120No it’s because Halle is black. If it’s not acceptable for a black person to play that role, then why is it acceptable for an Asian person to play the role? What utter nonsense.

I enjoyed the video. I'm sure there's no country in the world without a little 'racism'. Also, if you talk about the case of "racism," the United States is probably the first country in the world, right? Is the movie of a leading movie company in such a country ruined in Korea because of racism? It's just ridiculous ^^ It's a level where you can only laugh. I agree with many of the people you mentioned in the video, but... First of all, the synchronization between the original character and the actors is very important in the movie "Real Story." But The Little Mermaid just destroyed the original and wrote the main character in a different race. That's why I'm criticizing... It's not because it's black, but because the original character is white and red-haired mermaid, why does a black mermaid suddenly appear. The popularity of black Hollywood actors in Korea is as great as white actors. Simply put, the race of actors is not important in Korea. Isn't it natural that actors who act well and make good use of their characters are popular? For example, among Captain America in Marvel Comics, there were women, blacks, and whites. So it doesn't matter who does it, but it's the same reason that the Little Mermaid had to use white people. The movie is ruined because Koreans are racist? It's just a real damn thing. How many of KDRAMA and MOVIE's works are cast when they are based on webtoons (comics) Just looking at that, the answer is already out.
DISNEY and CNN They are similar in all aspects the answer is to find a real true reason. rack of creativity, lack of passion. lovely two good companies are only so so nowadays.
I'm personally not understanding the "dark, gloomy" or "scary" comments from some of these people interviewed. I understand not being familiar with how it is different from the original but when they said the trailer was gloomy or had dark undertones is where I get confused. The trailer itself was not dark or scary imo. I feel it showed enough similar scenes from the cartoon to give an idea of how they will try to adapt the visuals. Hope that made sense.
Yes because S. Korea has a racial intolerance problem. And you are siding with them. 😂 As a south east asian filipino this are box office numbers of little mermaid. "the Southeast Asian nation is currently the highest grossing market for the movie “The Little Mermaid”, earning US$5.9 million (approximately P326 million) as of June 28, 2023. and we are just rhe 3rd place, Australia and Japan are in #1 and #2
Yeah, calling people racist because they don't conform to your ideologies doesn't work over here. I can say for certain, you guys are the racist. Blackwashing a perfectly fine princess, with someone that doesn't even come close to an image of a fairytale princess. Also, stop with the "Oh, she killed the songs tho, bs." go to a little mermaid video where on youtube, translate the korean comments them you will see racism, after racism, after racism. (They call her a ugly monster who will scary the children in the cinema and more) The real problem is: these asian people cant see beauty in a young black girl, its not a matter of representation, its a matter of social beauty standard. But sorry to inform... if you cant see beauty in someone bc of skin color, thats what racism literally is!
I'm Asian but I think Beyonce, Elisha Dixon, and Halle Berry is stunning. I'm sorry but Halle Bailey isn't on that level of beauty for me personally and what's why I hate her as"My Littlr Mermaid"😢 There are racist Asian for sure. Who knows there might be a lot of them as well. But can you be so sure that none of you colored people aren't the same? If not then where did you get the courage to call out all Asians racist and say we don't see the beauty is black people
@ruthiee 1 10 spider man movies came out in the last two decades. Which 2 of them have a black main character. In the first spider verse, there are 2 white spiders men... If they make that amount of little mermaid films don't you think people would be more okay with one of them being black when the rest is white? Miles it's the protagonist of his own history but in the spider universe he is just one of them 2 Spider-verse is an animation and Asian people like animation, even more than Western people 3 "We must make original black characters" and "retell a formerly white story as black to bring it representative" are 2 different things stop saying we should only have one thing or another! we need Spiderverse and we ALSO need the little mermaid 4 representation it's not about seeing yourself on scream, it's about showing what society thinks about one race. So you can identify yourself with characters that are from another race but you can't view a race as equal if you have never seen that race in that humanized position. Asian people have never seen a black Disney Princess so they don't associate blackness with Disney magic and all that bullshit that come along. There are many more black super heroes than black Disney Princess 5 Representation is not a cake recipe. It's not a one size fits all. Sometimes it's okay and sometimes it's not okay. @@ruthiee8344 Racism affects different groups differently. Black men's physical prowess is readily accepted (it was used to justify slavery). Meanwhile, black women and girls are thought to be the antithesis of beauty. They are also stereotyped as lacking innocence, grace and elegance. A movie with a black male superhero will always outperform a movie with a black female romantic lead.
The fact that the entire legacy of the live-action film is reduced to a debate over race when Halle Bailey very much embodies the spirit of Animated Ariel (and Disney's Little Mermaid made huge departures from the original fairy tale, anyway), very much makes the issue VERY MUCH RACIAL. It's RACIALLY DRIVEN. I've known the Bailey girls on screen ever since their UA-cam singing days, and I LOVED them both. My only concern was Halle was so pure, so innocent, and her voice is so beautiful. But that was the whole point of the Ariel character. My question to all those haters: Do you even know anything about Halle Bailey? Have you seen her in other stuff? Heard her sing elsewhere? If it's not 'RACIST', then it's still a RACIAL-DRIVEN issue.
Hi there, thank you for a point well made. Bailey is a Disney princess and by all means makes a great mermaid, however she does not embody the image of Ariel hence the mass international rejection. As a fan of the 90s Ariel, I watched the movie and animated series and fell in love with her. That is the Ariel, I and other people expected due to the tie in with our childhood and history. Nostalgia is powerful and loyalty to that character/image and our childhood is real. Your point is strong, however it takes away from the attachment people have to the 90s Ariel they fell in love with. Personally, Disney could have renamed Bailey's character and problem solved.

Disney didn't blame racism for the reason why TLM flopped in Asian markets, the media did. The truth is Koreans did flood Halle Bailey's UA-cam videos and social media accounts with racist comments. They didn't have to see the movie if they didn't want to, but they didn't have to bully the actress either. Of course they're going to tell a different story when they're on camera and can't hide behind the anonymity of the internet. The media simply made the connection between the comments and the ticket sales. That conclusion may or not be valid, but it's a reasonable one.
Not sure about Koreans flooding the actress's social media accounts. But on TLM review clips, not just Koreans but people in several countries did say bad things about her looks and her insisting on keeping dreadlocks so black kids could identify with her. People think if you are gonna play a character you gotta get into that character, not put your own identity into it.
Will Smith playing Genie he did make himself look like the character. He didn't keep any black features like Afro hairstyle or keep his skin color dark except when disguising as a human.
i think she meant that her image is what they had in mind for a more ariel like character, not necessarily that she should be the one to act or sing in the movie.
They didn't mean Daniele should be Ariel. They said Daniele's image fit more than Halle Bailey, so basically Halle doesn't really fit for the role they think.
@@shinulee265She doesn’t have red hair, nor is she white. They just meant that a black person could not be their image of Ariel but and Asian person would be fine.
@@shanghaichica They never said Asian would be fine nor black shouldn’t be Ariel. What they are trying to say is they see no proper reason why they changed the race, and also if they wanted to change but then why Halle Bailey? There would be better black actress who fit better than her. So basically it’s not because a black person does it, but because a black person doesn’t fit the image at all. If she was white as she look like, they wouldn’t watch it neither.
Funny thing is that in the movie, they were able to communicate with all the sea creatures, but why didn't they communicate with the sharks i? Are sharks not sea creatures? It's a shark discrimination movie then lol
Jordan Peele's Get Out was a huge hit in S.Korea. look up the box office gross record, S.Korea was #2 with U.S being #1. explain that to CNN and Disney.
Exactly! Quality matters. But Disney doesn't believe in that anymore 😔
Black Panther once topped the box office in Korea. Koreans think that Black Panther's main character should be Black.
If Disney announces that it will replace the main character of Black Panther with an Asian Korean character, Koreans will not like the movie and will not think that the main character is appropriate. This is because Koreans think that the main character of Black Panther should be black, not asian korean,
@@SNIPER-XYZ 💯💯💯
The Korean’s reasons for not watching or liking the film is my exact reasons for not supporting the film, and it’s not bc of racism.
Its because no one wants to see a black Ariel. Because using a black actress is racist.
@@audreabrown8775 Maybe this case is different. I know they tried to find the best singer, but choosing actress regardless of her appearance, just by her voice is actually kinda forced. Couldn't they used the second-best singer or anyone else? Because actually it doesnt need a very good singer to actually sings Part of Your World. What you need is to put intention and you had to feel and live the song as deeply as possible. Howard Ashman specifically asked for "Part of Your World" to be sung like a monologue, it's not meant for anyone else outside of the grotto to hear what Ariel was singing, the scene should be more intimate with a youthful wonder, more gentleness and love for the world on land, since the focus of the song is something she loves. You know that Howard Ashman was a great lyricist that he can even tell a story from a song. He made the song dynamically switching from singing to talking or even dancing and vice versa but the transition between them is still unnoticeable. But in the remake, Halle looks like she is always singing. Jodi Benson (original Ariel's voice actress) is really well and carefully directed by Howard Ashman, the legendary lyricist who made Disney rose from its downfall and started the renaissance era of Disney, who recently returned from his huge career in musical broadway world theater that time, that even her breaths, stress and pause on each syllable are really well and gently cared for. That's one thing that Halle didnt had. People say that Jodi sings the song as a character and Halle sings the song like she is in front of America's Got Talent's juries. Well i can agree with that.
Maybe Rob Marshall choose her because she's good at belting and high note but that wasn’t the intent of the songwriters. Halle really make a new version for herself. She made a key change so it more sounds like a pop song. But Ashman specifically told Jodi that she had to sing like she was saying something intimate instead of belting it like she was in front of thousands of people, that's why all her big notes don't actually sound big and powerful but sweet and dramatic. While in Halle's version they did quite the opposite. Well everything doesn’t need to be the same since this is live action remake so I hope that there's some improvisations too but the live action actually have lots of imperfection in the beginning. But yeah both still works as "I Want" song actually (if we dont judge thoses by Howard's standards). I’ve made an complete analysis but I wont go deep into this song, you can ask me to send the analysis if you want.
The director literally said Halle was the first to audition and was hired almost immediately. Probably there was no “we searched far and wide for the perfect Ariel”, they barely searched at all. Halle even claimed the roles for hers. Rumour has it that Beyoncé got her the role, there are better singers out there, Jackie Evancho and Lucy Thomas would make better Ariel. Lindsay Lohan in her ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Freaky Friday’ era would have made a great Ariel. She’s an actual ginger, and she used to sing too back then. Initially a big contender like Emma Stone who not only has a natural red hair but is also an excellent singer as she proved in La La Land. She’s also proven herself in Hollywood with her diverse project and even bagged an Oscar. So her playing in a big disney movie would have brought in a lot of revenue. Another big contender is like Chloe Grace Moretz who you might know from Carrie and she appeared to genuinely have been cast in early stages of the project, which just means she really would have been the perfect Little Mermaid. Karen Gillen, she’s the most known by Amy in Doctor Who and Guardian of the Galaxy but just because she’s busy with Marvel doesn’t mean she couldn’t have made room for big movie which would have expanded her portfolio quite a lot. Karen is also probably the most fan casted actress for ginger characters. So this could have been a dream come true for many as for her singing talents, Karen had her big moment on the ABC show “Selfie” where she sang Chandelier and shocked everyone with her angelic voice. No need to go far though, Ariana Grande (idk if Ariana is a bad choice, you can complain about this) imo is already fulfilled standard in terms of looks, acting and most importantly her voice. Even though looking for an actress for live action Mulan was much more difficult because you have to find a Chinese descent who can sing + act and is good at English, but in the end she was found. Director must be blind or something because there’s no way Halle looks remotely like Ariel. It looks like Rob Marshall was lied. Idk but maybe they didnt just see her potential at singing but also at baiting people upset because her skin is black. They just used Halle for marketing gimmick so that the world will be excited and they can cry racism to protect themselves from critics and blame it if their movie flop. You just saw that after this live action was released, Halle was criticized by many people but Disney didn't give protection to her, just let her face it alone, which is so unforgivable.
Halle is good actually. But i don't think Ariel is a good choice because the consequences of blackwashing main character is bad. I want her career grow too but not by being employed by those capitalist in suits. Halle is very princess like and has such a beautiful voice she deserved to be in an original movie not a lackluster remake that will probably be forgotten in 10 years.
Well after all, we live in modern era. Anything can be done, the same as the voice problem. It's the same case as Emma Watson. Why Disney doesn’t hire a singer to dubbing an actor/actress who cant sing? This used to be incredibly common and could be easily done. The autotune is brutal.

(The little mermaid literally has a statue in Copenhagen.)
This was such a missed opportunity.
💯 👍🏻
At least I can respect the general Korean reason. Have your preferences fine; but there is no reason to get red faced over a damn cartoon like people do in America over here.
That’s the problem the west has been pestering them this whole time and even my GF is sick of it.
Halle is not even a good actress and her renditions of the songs it was just her singing to herself instead of the character

Would the movie have been successful if the protagonist of a movie about UFC fighters had been cast as a skinny man? This is not a racism issue.
Red hair Ariel is more iconic
Nostalgia....just not what it used to be.
I honestly can say this with my mother' name. I would be mad at Diseny if they casted Korean actress to white characters like Snow White, Belle, Elsa, etc. without acceptable reasons, and blame the actress who got the role.
Snow White was already filmed and will come out next year. Snow White is played by a latino actress, which isn't exactly snow white.

Russia didn’t like it too.
Good
Ppl just boycotted this bc Disney was forcing a performative angle by carrying Halle who imo is not the right fit to begin with.

Mermaids aren’t even real 😂😂😂😂 there’s nothing about race that should have to be accepted. They. Are. Not. Real!
I am not.

I thought it was a well known fact red hairs get replaced in movies now because ginger is for the word scrambled
for me saying Little mermaid use black people it's fine if match well but not match even so dark vibe .
Id like to see if Ariel was black then made white youd also say she is mystical character
Imagine if they cast a white girl to play the black characters...it would be outraged 😅

@@grow1820 it would no different now had ariel been accurately portrayed people would accepted it

So this is the direction our society is going towards. Great.
And the fact that you had to add “that’s not because I’m racist” at the end of that statement, exposes you big time.

Japan escaped the westeen media's bullet because the movie was released much later there.
Wow, Korean women are so beautiful
I’ve said it once I’ll say it again and then I’ll keep on saying it until people get it through their heads it doesn’t help with a lead actress who knows good and damn well she’s a diversity hire goes around and attacks people no matter what the criticism of the movie is no matter how valid criticism is she insults them of course that’s gonna turn people away.
I personally think her sister is better.

hey why not asian mermaid????? Disney has a racism
So glad this movie flopped 😎😎 Cheers
Korea should ban all Disney films until the company apologizes.
Apologize for what? Korean people have a very weird complexion with dark skin, you can see the way they treat their own idols with dark skin.
Screw it I paid Disney plus for Spiderman 3 and seems it won't be coming out

If image is part of the issue, how does Danielle look more like Ariel than Halle? The racism and gaslighting is nauseating. And you perpetuating it is shameful.
I believe it's because the character Ariel is pale instead of having brown skin.
@@INTPJay6120No it’s because Halle is black. If it’s not acceptable for a black person to play that role, then why is it acceptable for an Asian person to play the role? What utter nonsense.

First of all, the synchronization between the original character and the actors is very important in the movie "Real Story."
But The Little Mermaid just destroyed the original and wrote the main character in a different race.
How many of KDRAMA and MOVIE's works are cast when they are based on webtoons (comics)
Just looking at that, the answer is already out.

lovely two good companies are only so so nowadays.
Did you watch the film? One of the darkest scenes was Ariel’s cave with her collection. Also Ursula’s cave. Very dark compared to the original
News flash black folks just embrace your real culture african.
Yes because S. Korea has a racial intolerance problem. And you are siding with them. 😂
As a south east asian filipino this are box office numbers of little mermaid.
Also, stop with the "Oh, she killed the songs tho, bs." Ariana Grande, would have killed it way better than her and Ariana would've killed the acting too. I would've been okay with that.
Exactly. As if we are to believe that they had no choice but to cast her because she's the only one who could sing so well in the whole world.
Don't undermine the original.
You guys are in a sense of victimization.
go to a little mermaid video where on youtube, translate the korean comments them you will see racism, after racism, after racism. (They call her a ugly monster who will scary the children in the cinema and more)
The real problem is: these asian people cant see beauty in a young black girl, its not a matter of representation, its a matter of social beauty standard. But sorry to inform... if you cant see beauty in someone bc of skin color, thats what racism literally is!
I'm Asian but I think Beyonce, Elisha Dixon, and Halle Berry is stunning.
I'm sorry but Halle Bailey isn't on that level of beauty for me personally and what's why I hate her as"My Littlr Mermaid"😢
There are racist Asian for sure. Who knows there might be a lot of them as well. But can you be so sure that none of you colored people aren't the same? If not then where did you get the courage to call out all Asians racist and say we don't see the beauty is black people
You can't tell me it's not about race and then turn around and flood the internet with racist comments.
So why did Spider-Man not flop in Asia? He is black main character 👀
@ruthiee
1
10 spider man movies came out in the last two decades. Which 2 of them have a black main character. In the first spider verse, there are 2 white spiders men...
If they make that amount of little mermaid films don't you think people would be more okay with one of them being black when the rest is white? Miles it's the protagonist of his own history but in the spider universe he is just one of them
2
Spider-verse is an animation and Asian people like animation, even more than Western people
3
"We must make original black characters" and "retell a formerly white story as black to bring it representative" are 2 different things stop saying we should only have one thing or another! we need Spiderverse and we ALSO need the little mermaid
4
representation it's not about seeing yourself on scream, it's about showing what society thinks about one race. So you can identify yourself with characters that are from another race but you can't view a race as equal if you have never seen that race in that humanized position. Asian people have never seen a black Disney Princess so they don't associate blackness with Disney magic and all that bullshit that come along. There are many more black super heroes than black Disney Princess
5
Representation is not a cake recipe. It's not a one size fits all. Sometimes it's okay and sometimes it's not okay. If you cant know the difference you cant productively discuss that matter at all.

@@KP-zd3hc Let me try it this way, to a racist everything is about race. Good enough of a point for you.
Criticizing a performer for not fitting a role isn't racist. Unless you are a woke American, then it is.

Sorry for them, but Daniele being Ariel is so far fetched because the girl can't act or even sing as normally we would expect from Ariel persona.
i think she meant that her image is what they had in mind for a more ariel like character, not necessarily that she should be the one to act or sing in the movie.
How dumb do you have to be to miss understand the idea that she just like the image
