My favorite campground, Emerald Forest. I have memories from the past, about the campground.. I met an elderly fellow back in the mid-90's, who told me about what the campground was like back in the 1930's.. My memories of the campground are from late 1950's on.. As a youngster back then, that campground was like pure magic. There is something transformational about being in the Redwood forest. Back then, even with primitive pit-toilet outhouses, that campground, that Forest, cast its spell..
Ha, well as you saw those primitive outhouses are long-gone. That bathroom I showed was residential quality! You'll be glad to know that Emerald Forest still has the magic. Had plans to go back this May but they were shut down due to Covid. Can't go by that area without staying there. And then there's Trinidad Beach!!!

That's a great idea. However the backstory is so short I couldn't make a video about it. That phrase just popped into my head. I was going to not use it again after a few times but my mentees said they loved it so I kept it. And now you know the story!

The redwoods are amazing, everyone should see them. My Grandparents had a home on a bluff overlooking the Pacific in Trinidad, it's magical.

I live in Crescent City, if you came from Oregon, you drove through it, we have some of the biggest trees in the world right here. There is so much more to see on that coast line. Glad you injoyed it. There’s more to see.

Great filming Liz.. I've been up there more than a dozen times.. it never gets old.
Those stumps kill me.. those in your filming and more. It's hard to fathom the damage we did back then, you stand beside a stump as big as a bus and over two thousand years old.. it's nauseating.
AHHH, It's like I needed to hear it, I have a really hard time with living in the presenr, Im always chasing something and by the time I get to it I cant enjoy it because I have been longing for it for so long... I truly hope I can practice mindfullness and the ability to live and enjoy the present

Trinidad is so nice. I parked right on the sand parking lot and had panoramic view of ocean. Salt Point is my favorite place, Gerstle Cove. Hard to book these days but it is Springtime so need to get there soon! Pacific Northwest is by far my favorite part of the USA. The redwood trees are spiritual. Highway 1 is a great drive but twisty so only for brave people with big rigs. Nice video.
Keep going to reach Port Angeles, Washington. That city is cursed. The devastation to the redwoods and native Americans was so absolute. You can feel the pain.

@@LizAmazing Port Townsend is the sister city to Port Angeles. PT thrives and is beautiful where PA is decrepit and cursed. btw here's a little known secret. There's an area in WA state called the "sun belt". It actually gets sunlight instead of th grey cloudy the rest of the state gets. You'll be near the sun belt.

I have three dogs I want to take they all have personality. I was at the redwoods as a kid.

Liz....I love your honest videos. I feel like you & I have the same spirit & joy of soaking up the beauty of nature. My husband & I are planning on going full time in the next few years. His mother is 90 years old, so we're limited on our long camping trips, although we're heading to Colorado Springs for two weeks in May. FYI-we're from Louisville!

Amazing pictures. Why don’t you do a video on your drone and how it works. I would love to get shots like that and have but I’m not sure what kind of a drone to buy. Do you connect your telephone to it for photos and video’s?

My travel goal is to travel to Az this winter. Did you use a course, you would recommend, for studying FAA regs, or to pass the test. Very inspiring video, by the way. Love those ocean drone shots.
So fun to get to drone over Trinidad Beach. Many areas including the Redwood Forest and nearby are off-limits to drones. I went to UAVcoach.com to prep for the FAA drone license, highly recommend. Great footage on the front end and good music too. I thought of a special friend who left much too soon near the end of your video. Do you plan out the campgrounds way in advance? How long do you usually stay? What influences your choices of cities?
Hi Connie! Thanks so much. Hurts to lose loved ones. I planned this one way in advance because there really aren't that many campgrounds close to the Redwood Forest. The National Park itself does have some, but my rig is too big. I booked this three to four months out. I typically do book at least three months out wherever I go, that way no stress trying to find a place at the last minute. How did your Rv shopping go?

@@ConnieMacks I tried Harvest Host but it's not for me. I'm really not set up for boondocking (yet), also some HH sites are just industrial parking lots. I did only use them twice so maybe I need to give them another shot. Fingers crossed about your offer!!!
