That is really a major hit on that itinerary...I would take the move over offer and I hope the current passengers are compensated. I think the cruise knew this problem and had a duty to get it fixed once and for all. Honestly missing ports for weather etc. is one thing but a ship in this condition should not be taking people to Alaska. Just my opinion.

    Thank you for the video.
I think the change in the Sapphire's itinerary is pretty significant. For many people, an Alaskan cruise is a once in a lifetime bucket list experience, and the removal of so many significant ports must be disheartening.

I am scheduled for my first cruised ever…. To AK on the Sapphire Princess Aug 3 out of Vancouver. So much time and research went into all the details and even though she is older I thought is was best for a smaller ship through Glacier Bay. Ive learned my lesson! I sure hope she gets repaired before too many more cruises are “limped along”. Alaska is such a beautiful place. I cant wait to see it from the water, cant wait to experience a cruise and most of all escape the Texas heat in August!

Yeah, leaving a day late, missing a port, snd glacier bay would be a deal breaker. If it was just a port I could deal with it but you take glacier Bay away from the glacier Bay cruise and that’s a hard no. They should’ve just canceled the cruise entirely at that point.
I almost void the sapphire in September but I’m glad I chose the grand.

I am currently on the Sapphire and will be on the next cruise as well, so a b2b Vancouver to Whittier and back again. Glacier Bay has NOT been cancelled. Not sure where that information came from, but it is not accurate. Now, it may still be canceled (hope not), but as of right now it is Ketchikan and College Fjord. Still a hit to the itinerary when it’s called Voyage of the Glaciers. Captain today said we will be in Juneau tomorrow in the afternoon, still not sure what time. Excursions canceled again. He also said he would come back on at 5:00 with more info and info about compensation.

Glacier Bay has been cancelled. I have a friend on this cruise, so I know about that. You may want to double check to avoid further disappointment.

It was canceled at 5:20pm on Monday. It had not been cancelled as of my reply. Thanks.

Your group cruise to Antarctica is on the sapphire Princess and that's way too big of a bucket list cruise esp with the cruise tour, if they "are slow" we would miss it , so do you think they will put us in a different ship? 🚢
We are booked and looking forward to this cruise! A propulsion issue would be disastrous to Antartica.!

We just got off in LA from a 32 day South Pacific cruise. We actually didn’t have any problems. But my husband did see parts of an engine that had been replaced while we were at the Tahiti port. So new parts went on 1 engine at least. I hope the ship gets better soon. The crew was wonderful on the sapphire.

We are going to Alaska in July on the Crown Princess. We have been before and looking forward to it again. We will be leaving out of San Fran and returning to San Fran. This will be our first time on the Crown, so it gives us a preview of her for our Australia cruise in 2025. Thank You for all the info you pass on, it has helped us a lot. Safe Travels.

God bless you, Allison & Gordon! The homewood suites looks really nice - I think we may have stayed in one (not in Boston) as the layout looks really familiar. That's really too bad on the loss of 3 major areas on the Alaskan cruise on the Sapphire Princess. Would be really devastating for someone who might only get to do it once.

Sorry, that's awful. Essentially to me, those people missed over half of their cruise. 1 missed port would be sad; 1 port & glacier bay & college fiord not an Alaska cruise. I am so sorry for the passengers

Prior to the Covid cruise pause, there were few mechanical issues across all cruise lines. Now the reduced speed, itinary changes, mechanical problems etc are too numerous. I believe the industry has severely curtailed maintenance in favor of paying down debt. So, cruisers, stop feeding their pockets because it is all to clear that the cruise lines no longer have you or your expensive vacation as their priority.

This is going to be a "northern summer" for this Arizonan. I'm going to Iceland and Norway on the Sky Princess at the end of June, and then to Alaska on the Discovery Princess at the end of July for my 60th birthday!

In 2022 we were on the Crown Princess and were unable to sail into Glacier Bay due to heavy fog. The captain advised us of the condition and was most apologetic. We were very disappointed but after all it was weather, not Princess fault. When we returned to our cabin, we found a letter from the captain again apologizing and saying that princess was offering us a future cruise credit of 30% of our fare.

Anybody that uses airplanes understands exactly what you’re saying. Flights get canceled, rerouted or delayed almost daily and people still fly. Sometimes you get a room, meal or a flight the next day and sometimes they sleep in the airport. ❤❤❤❤

I am scheduled on the Sapphire Princess starting July 6. Losing Glacier Bay would be the supreme loss, 95% of the value, as far as I'm concerned.

The cruise should be free --to miss those key ports means the whole cruise is useless---but of course since cruise ships have all the rights in their contract passengers are at their mercy. Another strike against Princess---they are rated by me as the bottom of the 7 cruises I took this year for many reasons . Princess would be a last resort for me going forward. If you are elite or higher I would be asking---what have you done for me lately---cheaper wi-fi and laundry wouldn't cut it when they sail an old ship prone to breakdown . I was on Sapphire in the fall and liked it well enough but doesn't compare to celebrity silhouette for example.

We were on the Sapphire May 7-11 and the entire crew handled everything very well, from the captain to the guest services staff to the food & beverage teams. Very thankful we booked the transfer through Princess to get from the port to Seattle Airport because it was seamless even with the 4 hour delay. Overheard guest services with lots of passengers and they were top notch professional, patient, and helpful.
We would sail on Sapphire again.

Losing that many ports is not acceptable on a bucket list cruise, should be given money back or another free sailing.

Going on our very first cruise for our 45 anniversary on the Grand in July. Cruise and land tour for 12 days. Can’t wait after watching cruising to Alaska UA-cam videos all winter.
