The following companies (that you'll see in my content) support me either financially or with free stuff, so huge thanks to these guys for helping me with the challenges I take on:
Argon 18, Enve, Le Col, Lazer Helmets, Shimano, Schwalbe Tires, Sungod Eyewear, Tailfin Cycling, Styrkr, Exposure Lights, Garmin, Fox and products from Saddleback brands.
Just a quick note on this video for two things I got wrong (sorry still learning everything on the new bikes. I will get better!) The maximum tyre clearance is 40mm on a 1x setup. 35c with fenders / 35c with Shimano Road Di2 / 38c with SRAM AXS / 40c with Shimano GRX, SRAM AXS Wide, 1x and mechanical groupsets. The big difference between the Krypton and Krypton Pro is indeed the carbon layup to help lighten the frame up.
The SRAM Wide 2x has 40mm clearance. I know because I have it and my tyres are 40mm. In fact I measured them on the wheel at 41.5mm.
I feel the cafe should have been called 50/34.
✌️👏
I love the storage compartments on carbon down tubes. It's maybe the one thing that makes me go "should I have gotten a carbon frame instead?"
I didn’t realise how useful it was.
Amazing bike, love argon. I used to live in Montreal near their office, amazing to see them growing. It was also cool to see their short run with Astana
Yeah I liked the Astana ones too! Hope I get to visit the Montreal office sometime
I’m still on rim brakes and have hesitated for the past 18 months or so about making the swap over. The bigger tire clearance is a big selling point but the main two when comparing with other road options on the market are:
- standard 27.2mm seat post and clamp for ease of adjustment and future proofing
- non integrated bar and stem AND the neat way it sends the cables into the frame.
Cheers.
It’s a very lovely bike and yep I would say the standard seatpost and ease to adjust is fantastic
Debating getting the non-pro version. Argon 18 have a good rep for quality and I think it’s a well thought out frame. Just wish there was a frameset-only option.
It’s worth getting in touch with them directly, I think it’s something they’re looking to offer
V. Nice spec & explanation Chris 👏.....the flex on the handlebars: does it provide a more comfortable ride / feeling / set up (post your wrist injury?). Have a great weekend Chris, cheers! 🍻
Yeah definitely. It’s been a frustration for a while with comfort on the bike in the past on how stiff some of them have been and this additional flex really does help
@ChrisHallRides good to read it helps on the comfort front Chris, a note to self and something for me to bear in mind........I can forsee a change in my set up too. Thanks again for sharing your approach, knowledge, and tips. It's top content 👌
Thanks for watching!
Purdy for sure, good to hear it's riding as well as it looks
Rides absolutely fantastic
Have you tried a sum or sum pro?
Literally built one up this week and there will be some videos coming on that one soon
@@ChrisHallRides legend. would love to hear how you feeling about it compared to the soloist you had built up.
What's the camera you are using for these vlog-ish style of videos? Is it a GoPro Hero 12 with an external mic? Or a DJI Action 4? Trying to discern from reflections in sunglasses or casted shadows.
Insta 360 with its own mic
Sweet machine Chris, enjoy!
Thanks 👍
Is the tire clearance what Argon recommends? Nearly the same as their gravel rig?
Yeah the tire clearance is super impressive. I may have got it a tad wrong but listed is up to 40c www.argon18.com/en/bikes/all-road/krypton-pro
Amazing for a "road" bike. Love to see this trend.
Same here!
Beautiful road bike!!! Enjoy it!!! Greetings from Loutraki Greece
Thank you!
That is proper nice with the ENVE kit do like the internal toolkit nice touch that, enjoy adding more miles
That's the plan!
That's a smooth looking ride, Enjoy it. Take care, Al
Thank you! You too!
Calp?
Si
40mm bars might be a bit below the UCI Iimits 😳😂
📏
Looks to me like a very dependable bike. Pretty too. I wonder - will you feature the Dark Matter on the channel?
👀 coming soon
@@ChrisHallRides looking forward to it. I think what would be interesting is what’s the line where capabilities of the Krypton end (light gravel I imagine given 40mm limit) and Dark Matter begin.
Yeah I’m excited to be able to compare them both
I got a new Sum Pro I haven't ridden it yet. I will take it out on its first ride in FEB in FL
Definitely like your bike!
Awesome! I'm hoping I can try one of them out soon. They look awesome!
I have this bike here in the UK. It’s incredible.
So good isn’t it?
@@ChrisHallRides Just a shame their distribution network is so appalling. Hard to believe they actually sell many bikes. And their marketing is virtually non-existent.
Nice looking setup!
Thanks!
Nice bike chris 👍
Thanks 👍
Your sungods tint looks way too light for bright sun. You're squinting like crazy XD
I just have tiny eyes
@@ChrisHallRides but what's up with the near clear or clear tint in bright sun? We should barely be able to see your eyes?
They’re a lens that tints
@@ChrisHallRides weird. My photochromic in that amount of sun would be at 15% and eyes would be barely visible. Carry on :)
A Bobby Dazzler of a bike 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
