After watching the entire movie, I realized that Anne's anger came from not marrying for love. She wouldn't be going to the mill seeing her first love from afar if she had moved on with her husband. She may have loved her husband but she never closed the chapter of that door. It's probably the same conversation her parents gave her about the mill worker. That's why she gave Allie the letters finally so that her daughter would make the right decision for her. This movie is absolutely beautiful. I can watch a million times and never get bored.

In the end, she learned from her mistakes, and did the right thing for Allie. I agree, this is a beautiful movie.
Allie's mother was just a different person who had different priorities than she did. Money, a fancy house, & high social standing meant much more to her than they ever did to Allie. Even though she still sought out the man at the mill, she could never bring herself to actually leave her wealthy husband and that life style to be with that guy. And she assumed that Allie would understand when she kept those letters from her. We don't get to choose our family members, just our friends & lovers.
I relate to Noah here. I watched this movie the other night on Netflix now that I’m a little older when it had came out. I cried watching this movie. Because he won. Love won. She took a risk. And not too many rich wealthy priveledge girls know what is like to take risks. They never really had to- everything has been given to them. My family is not rich- I work hard every day for the things I have, I work a lot and I understand that’s how it’s going to be for however long. I moved to a college town and met many college girls like this. Who come from this rich background, who would never bring me around their family or parents because of fear of judgment for what they might think of me. Even when the girl really likes me. I love how she took that risk on him. Some people might not understand why the family is so harsh like this and I’m sorry to say this but you have to imagine Noah being brown, imagine him being a different race, imagine him having tattoos all over his body. Then you might understand when she says “trash” a little better. It’s hard to get it when Noah is a gorgeous white man that Hollywood and the world is all in love with lol.... but if you imagine him in these ways you might understand better. I completely understand. I’ve been in his shoes. This gives me hope that love does win. And maybe someday I can love the girl of my dreams. When Noah got mad drunk - I understand that i felt that- he channeled and put all his anger out on that house and it came out to be so beautiful which caught her eye to go see and visit him. And when he had the temporary widow girl- I get that too. Because a young dude can be so lonely- esp when he has love in his heart and energy- he feels bad because he knows he doesn’t really love her but they both use each other to fill that void. One thing nobody should do is look down on someone because of where they come from, how much or job they have, dress a certain way, or looks different. It’s on the inside that matters the most.
It’s crazy because the real reason the mother despised her with Noah so much is because it was a reflection of what she once had and lost. She had a man she loved more than Allie’s father and that’s the one that sparked that fire in her….. she kept it secret until the end but you could hear the regret and pain in her voice… she once had a guy like Noah, and that wasn’t the guy she spent her life with… sad to see that reflection of love in your daughter and her partner is a constant reminder of something she didn’t have anymore….

I met my love at 16 and we are still together might be hard at times and crazy at others but we have a love like this never has faded. Finding this is one in a million but when you find your person hold on tight and never let go.
You can say that but allot of times it ends up going the other way. The mom was just trying to protect her daughter. I dont think she should have insulted the kid because he seemed like a nice boy but she needed some sense talked into her.
My girlfriends mom: he is a nice boy but he to damn sexy for you so have your sister to help u when he's piping u down!!!!!! My girlfriend: ok momma!!!!!! Me: *WAKES UP FROM DREAM*
The mom is 100% in the right here. Allie is lucky to have parents that actually care. Young people make dumb decisions and then have there whole life to live. Its not like she was moving to another planet.
I was 13 when i fell in love and its been almost 5 years and my first love is who i love still. So love happens at any age. If its meant to be, the 2 people will be together through any hardships.
I found my soulmate at 18 and now we're 30 still together, got married 2 years ago. :) We're still crazy about each other and our parents keep wondering why we never get sick of seeing each other. We even work from home together and spend almost every minute together. Plenty of older people don't know anything about love and keep making the same mistakes they made in high school.
yes really :) We've had our ups and downs of course but we've grown a lot together and the longer we're together the more faith and love we have for each other. It's like we speak a secret language that no one else understands, we're very in tune with one another. He's my best friend and I've made it through a lot of rough times because I had him. I'm glad it made your day! :)
apparently, she wasn't over her first love,or she wouldn't of kept stopping by the mill to watch him work. She clearly married just for money, regardless of her claims to love her present husband, she's lying to herself and her daughter when she claims to him.She should of gone with her heart and married her true love instead of marrying for money, and as result, she's not happily married, she's downright miserable as a result of her choice.John M Guinto

I found it very interesting and telling that when Allie says “you don’t look at daddy the way I look at Noah you don’t touch or laugh you don’t play you don’t know anything about love” it’s just crickets from her mom she doesn’t even try to defend that cuz she knows it’s the truth. Once upon a time Anne did have that special something with someone that Allie has with Noah but now she doesn’t have anything close to that in her own marriage. She kept Allie and Noah apart out of pure envy and probably even resentment.
She is supposed to take advice from a 17 year old girl? She is just looking out for her daughter. Looks like the mom had a pretty good life. Maybe the kid ends up being a nice boy but if people love one another they will find each other again. New York is not on another planet. You dont give up your dreams and goals for a relationship.
You are psychologically incapable of knowing what love is at 17. Your brain isn't even fully developed. At that age, it's all infatuation. Sure, some people develop true love as they get older but it's actually very rare to end up staying with your high school sweetheart well into adulthood without some sort of break in between.
@@knucklehoagies Bullshit. Literally little children already feel love at first for their parents, toys, friends and even pets. 17 year old already knows what love is, he just needs to know how to deal with it

The mother calls Noah trash, trash?? Oh wow! In this movie with german voices this part was translate to "He has no class! No class!" But trash ist really worse 🙁
Nobody caught this. But, her father was accepting of her daughters decision to date Noah because the father, was, at one point, a young Noah and her father experienced young love that he wishes he could have had. Both spouses had regrets.
It shows that her mother married her husband for convenience. He's rich, and provides safety. And she is literally projecting her own problems onto Allie, since later we see that her true first love was a very similar man to Noah.

Not to defend him but nowadays we live in an era where a meme called overprotective parental figures did nothing wrong (similar to Zamasu did nothing wrong) is being exploded everywhere. Imagine if your stepfather excused himself by saying that your dead guy is the son of a terrorist. Would he be excused?? Or would he be a hypocrite for basically doing what a terrorist would that would be forbidding love for shit and giggles???
Because she thinks that he is spending TOO MUCH time with his daughter, and look they were out until TWO O CLOCK in the morning. Your parents would be worried if they find out that their offsprings have gone missing but still in my opinion, the mother (Anne) doesn’t have the right to call him that. ☹️😠 I mean WHY will you call someone you have just met “trash”?!?
You don't touch or laugh, you don't play. You don't know anything about love!

He didn't, he wouldn't let it go, and because of that, he now reaps what he sowed, he is gonna lose the more he keeps trying to win, there's no other way to go than the loser route. Jealousy, maybe, if only unreasonable. But mostly out of pride and cheapness, I guess..
@@dafilmqueen556 That basically answers my question then. That's why I wanna tell you beware of some parents whose jealousy can be deadly
That old man has so much tolerance for the wife and the daughter. Is that possible in real life?
Yes, my father is this way
Mine would have secretly killed an abusive mother with rat poison. Allie's mom included
i PROMISE to accept whoever my daughter loves. as long as shes happy
Mother says...."your not to see him anymore...and that's final...... Poor Alie runs over to his father to see if she gets her approval.....Father says.... your not suitable for him"....... when Alie yells "Your not gonna tell me who I can Love".....her mom shook her head....like "yes I am"........what a sad part of the movie.....
I'd never thought the worst mom in this film would end up being the best and loving mom in "Room" (2015).
Don’t forget the best mom in all of Pleasantville.
Jake Rutigliano That actress is great!
The dad is a good man
When he said Annie, it sounded like he was going to object
whenever i watch this scene
i blame capitalism
the mother doesn't love that kid because he is a poor guy and called him "trash"
He's definitely not trash. He would give me everything I need than a rich man would.
And what if the poor failed you?? Would you go Darth Vader mode and discard him or her?????
He is not trash just because he is financially low...😙
He is rich in all possible ways...
Mind.body.soul.heart.
He is in every way a rich gentleman that he proves to be later in the movie....🕴️
It is a pity a watched this one now....
Not getting over the crazy romantic scenes of this couple...
Sensational 🎶
I hope only few of them like that bad character of parenting or person in real life.its so sad.....
At the last scene true wat she said...love doesnt have an age.
I don't care about 💰 God bless me with money I don't need a man for money
Shondale Brey I love your comment .
Yes this comment ♥️
Jiren would tell you that money makes right and that without it we are nothing
😭 moms
I went thru this shit with my in laws ! It drove me to have worse nervous breakdown imaginable.
Damn. Im sorry 😐
01:44 his sad puppy face 😢😢
Listen to your parents this time. They are always right.
He is not trash!!!!
Poor Allie
Mackenzie Cowles poor Allie? What about the dude. He got ripped apart by them
My girlfriends mom: he is a nice boy but he to damn sexy for you so have your sister to help u when he's piping u down!!!!!!
My girlfriend: ok momma!!!!!!
Me: *WAKES UP FROM DREAM*
The mom is 100% in the right here. Allie is lucky to have parents that actually care. Young people make dumb decisions and then have there whole life to live. Its not like she was moving to another planet.
very match with my love story.. but until now, me n my bf keep try
The father looks so much like Stalin omg
Damn we’ve all been here in relationships when parents disapprove of it 😔💔
I love this movie
To be fair 17 yr olds don't know love to well...
Isorozco511 *too
I was 13 when i fell in love and its been almost 5 years and my first love is who i love still.
Samantha Taylor really? This comment sort of made my day. Good for you guys seriously
yes really :) We've had our ups and downs of course but we've grown a lot together and the longer we're together the more faith and love we have for each other. It's like we speak a secret language that no one else understands, we're very in tune with one another. He's my best friend and I've made it through a lot of rough times because I had him. I'm glad it made your day! :)
This was my life for a time lol
apparently, she wasn't over her first love,or she wouldn't of kept stopping by the mill to watch him work. She clearly married just for money, regardless of her claims to love her present husband, she's lying to herself and her daughter when she claims to him.She should of gone with her heart and married her true love instead of marrying for money, and as result, she's not happily married, she's downright miserable as a result of her choice.John M Guinto

Forbidden love ❤️ is a tragic 😥 thing.
Question: What if a Noah like being was ultimately never for you??
Toxic parents
1:36
Ironic how Ariel (The Little Mermaid) and Allie, two redheads, say the same thing to their fathers….
At least her father was trying to be reasonable.
Goodbye missè13'917
A lot of parents think their teens don’t know about love but at times they do. I met my husband at 16 and we’ve been together since I was 17.
Question: what would happen if the poor failed you?? What if a Noah like being was ultimately never for you??
You are psychologically incapable of knowing what love is at 17. Your brain isn't even fully developed. At that age, it's all infatuation. Sure, some people develop true love as they get older but it's actually very rare to end up staying with your high school sweetheart well into adulthood without some sort of break in between.
@@knucklehoagies Bullshit. Literally little children already feel love at first for their parents, toys, friends and even pets. 17 year old already knows what love is, he just needs to know how to deal with it
@@Katyerina that's not what I mean. I'm talking about romantic love.
@@knucklehoagies Well, my mom and dad have been together since they were 13
Her dad agreed with Ann to keep the peace I think but looking at him and his language he agreeing with his wife but you tell he see what allie see he just letting on think he feels stuck between his daughter and his wife
The dad is cool but he love her woman.
My dad loves my boyfriend. He is moody. My dad doesn't like my boyfriend's Daniel jobs because he is a sculptor. Very similar.
Allie would have just as much success in art school or art college something see would enjoyed more following her passion as well
The mother calls Noah trash, trash?? Oh wow! In this movie with german voices this part was translate to "He has no class! No class!" But trash ist really worse 🙁
And what if the poor failed you??
Rachel mcadams as ravager daughter of deathstiroke dceu rumors
Wonder what happened to them when allie and noah married

Joan Allen was wildin' out. She was _normal_ in face/off.
What about Pleasantville?
Her dad looks like Joseph Stalin
Been there 😕.
The best moment
Nobody caught this. But, her father was accepting of her daughters decision to date Noah because the father, was, at one point, a young Noah and her father experienced young love that he wishes he could have had. Both spouses had regrets.
It shows that her mother married her husband for convenience. He's rich, and provides safety. And she is literally projecting her own problems onto Allie, since later we see that her true first love was a very similar man to Noah.
Imagine if all of this was retconned by revealing that her first love was a criminal's son all along in a possible sequel
This is how feel my bf💔😭
I think Allie's Father secretly liked Noah.
NOAH WAS RIGHT TO ASK ALLIE
" WHAT DO YOU WANT " ?
1:41 He‘s not suitable for you
Good scene 👏
Ouch!
It's never going to happen to me, it's not in the cards for me
😭
Why are they dressed up at 2 in the morning.
I don’t understand how girls think this is reality yet they think Dragon Ball Z is immature material. How many blonde green eyes buff guys are there in the world compared to how many real life notebook endings there are?
LOVE DAVID THORNTON WITH ALL MY HEART AND ALWAYS WILL
My life story. Only my step-dad ruined my life. Down to keeping letters. He stole that from me. And my ex got murd3red last year and I will never get that time back this was our movie. I will never 4give my step dad it and I don't speak to him again
I didn't know borat was in this movie
Why did Allie’s mother insult Noah by calling him “trash, trash, trash”?
Because she thinks that he is spending TOO MUCH time with his daughter, and look they were out until TWO O CLOCK in the morning. Your parents would be worried if they find out that their offsprings have gone missing but still in my opinion, the mother (Anne) doesn’t have the right to call him that. ☹️😠 I mean WHY will you call someone you have just met “trash”?!?
Classism
