Great comprehensive review Mark. I just bought one and get delivery in two days. Can't wait to try it out and your review makes it look easy to operate as you do with one hand! Looked at several different brands at Lowes for a lot cheaper but they don't appear to be nearly as well made as the Kubota brand. I have a friend who has had his Kubota for over 10 years and cuts 5 acres and has had no problems except to replace a battery from time to time. He said he wouldn't own anything else.
You will love this machine. Its a high end 42" mower. The mower feels solid and the bars have a better feel than the cheaper models offered. Good Luck.. Thanks for watching!
I’ll never buy a lawnmower from Lowe’s or Home Depot again. Spend the extra money, go to a dealer and have someone to fall back on and get better quality.
@@JonBecker81 Great advice. I couldn't agree with you any more! I love my Kubota machine. It's built like a tank and the controls feel like a Cadillac. I have never had a single problem with it, but it's comforting to know that I can get the Kubota dealer's support at anytime, if I should run into a problem. Fred
I made mistakes when we first moved into our 7 acre property trying to rely on experience maintaining a small yard, about .5 acres. You get used to spending $400 to $700 on a really good push mower but moving up to a zero turn takes balls of steel. I spent about $5,700 on our ZG127S back in 2014 and at the time that was a massive amount of money to spend on yard equipment. We have 4.5 acres of mowable area and it's got slopes everywhere, including around the pond. There's also an area at the bottom of one of these slopes that is very marshy until July, when the summer heat is able to evaporate the pool of moisture. But usually by this time, I have to use a walk behind bush hog to get it back under control before I can use the zero turn. The slopes are the kryptonite of this machine, pure and simple. It just doesn't have the low center of gravity to stay straight and no brake means I go where the mower takes me. Pulling back on the handles helps a little bit but it really needs to have a brake for slopes. So after 8 seasons and 250 hours later, I moved up to a 726X and it really should have been my 1st pick. If you have a flat yard like in the review, the 200 series (the 100 series are now the 200 series) will be perfectly fine, but if you have hills or slopes, avoid it. Some people have ditches they like to mow the interior sides and this mower will fail you if you try, especially if the ditch has water in it because you are going to either overturn it and drown or you will need to pull it out when you get stuck.
Having had a Craftsman 1000 kholer for many years and still running but it's time to upgrade. After lots of UA-cam and Google and physical researching I went to a FERRIS Dealership TOPS. In my area Harlingen TX according to them nobody has any 42" or 48" available not even the warehouse, they'll have to be made and it'll take around 2 to 6 months to a year. 8-5 Hrs of operation and they're always jammed with people needing service but they don't can't help anybody. TERRIBLE customer service so just imagine trying to get parts or maintenance. Stopped at a KUBOTA and customer service was fast attentive huge store and fully stocked organized plus they have many Kubota locations everywhere. 4 year warranty too. Bought the KUBOTA 42" Z232 Kawasaki zero turn with free delivery next day. Very happy with SERVICE and feel confident about continuing business with Kubota and will be buying more from them .
That looks like a great mower and it have a Kawasaki engine on it. I have both a John Deere, and Cub Cadet and they have that brand engine on them, and I love it. The John Deere is the best though and perform better and is the oldest mower.
I really like mine. It's a commercial cut mower. It has the fs651v 22 hp kawasaki. Hydros are 3600 series. It has a very good cut wet or dry. And it very responsive. The roll bar lets down also. I couldn't resist the o% down and financing for 48 months. Two year commercial or 400 hrs. So that tells you how good it is. This mower will probably last me a lifetime.
@@Grateful1977 hows that kubota mower doing? Kubota has this similar payment plan now and I'm being very decisive about getting a zero turn. I just want to buy a great mower that's going to be worth it.
Mark I bought a 2019 Kubota Z122R in an auction. It works great except … It whines when I take corners left or right. PS - What is the overhead bar for? Rollovers? Anything else???
I love my 45 inch Kubota zero turn mower. However, 3 weeks ago I broke the bolt holding one of my blades to sharpen my blades. The bolt breaking was my fault, but I took my deck to the Kubota dealer, they are super folks, Evens Equipement, to get fixed. They told me they would need to change out the gear box where the bolt brokd. That was 3 weeks ago and they are still trying to get the part from Kubota. They also have another mower waiting for parts they can't get, and they still can't tell me when they will get the part. I have to mow every 5 days, and my 3 acres is very hard to mow for a 70 year old man with a walk behind mower in thick grass. If I had known my dealer would have such problems getting parts of this national brand, I probably would have gone with another brand. I really like my dealer but they only handle Kuboa and Sthil products. I am very unhappy right now with Kubota. The dealer sold 3 mowers like mine to people who I knew and told how happy I was with my mower. It is
Im thinking about getting one of these, there is a huge kubota dealer nearby. I was going to go to home depot and buy a cub cadet or toro ztr but after learning that the kubota dealer can repair and get parts quickly I may go that route .
Mark, nice review. You mentioned a hose to attach to the oil drain. Is this an accessory or something you just have to find like in a hardware store or something? Also, my storage barn only has a 60" high door. Can the roll over protection bar be easily removed and reinstalled? Do you need a lift to change out the blades, i.e., going back and forth between collection/discharge and mulch kit? I see this only has two blades, would it be better to go with the 48" deck to get the three blade system and have some overlap on the cutting path? Do you know how well the collection system works or were you not able to check that particular configuration? Thank you again for the excellent review and thanks in advance for the requested info.
i'm not sure if the machine comes with a drain hose to attach to the drain, but a clear rubber hose from the hardware store should do the trick. The roll bar is easily foldable to clear your door height. I haven't personally seen the collection system for this machine. The last couple mowing seasons in the northeast have been very wet so its been hard to bag or mulch. A zero turn will mow faster than a tractor so be careful using a mulch kit. A mulch kit in wet grass will cause clogging and belt wear. Some guys have been using a flap that hinges over the mower deck chute so they can keep the grass out of the flower beds instead of mulch kits. hope that helps.
Great "overview" of the features, but not a "review" in which you would give your personal opinions of such things as build quality, durability, servicability, warranty, pros and cons, etc.
How does this compare to a Gravely ZTX, or Hustler Raptor Limited in a residential application? Wondering at what point cost outweighs reality of normal homeownership use.

when you take off the mower, do you hear squeaking noise from the rear wheels? I have Z122 RKW, and I hear an apparent squeaking noise from the both of rear hydro gear transmission or the rear wheels.
Kirk Vernier if you're going to use this z series kommander for commercial use the solid roll over bar would be a real issue for low limbs or branches. I have a z-125e and use it on our farm to cut 3 1/2 acres with many trees, bushes, I found out that the few limbs it did hit( apple, pear, and dogwood trees) in my yard needed to be trimmed anyway. The top of the bar is 5ft 6in. On mine, I trimmed a couple of branches and the trees actually look better. I realize that for lawn care business you don't have that option to cut low branches but in my case it showed me that I should have already trimmed something that low.
