- One of my favorite Autumn patterns to fish. A soft hackle emerger that incorporates some classic materials and a couple of useful techniques. If you pull it through still water or swing it down and across stream you won't be disappointed.

Great looking pattern, Barry. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks James.
Great looking hook, need to use it. I liked the partridge big mouth nymph. Another great fly 👍
Thanks Starsky.
Nothing like a nice wet fly and a 4 or 5 wt. bamboo rod...I love stack mending similar on Colorado's fall waters after big browns!!!
Hope all is well Barry!!
Thanks Silvertip, all good thanks and I hope the same with you...
Love this natural and will try to replicate. Thanks for your fishing advice and mastery in tying.
Thanks John, good luck with it.
your videos are brilliant, I'm absolutely hooked (haha) What I would really like to be included when you're doing a particular fly, tell us why you're doing it. What is the habitat, what season? How come a boatman fly can be so heavy, to my admittedly very untried eye?
Great suggestion!
Wonderful pattern thank you for sharing!
Thanks Hardy.
Very nice tie, though I would have saved that floss! I found another way to use hackle fluff and another pattern
style to add to my box! Thank you very much!
Thanks Mike.
Love your channel, your patterns are easy to follow and transfer well to my budget/craft store builds. Thank you for your vids, keep it up
Thanks Joseph, good luck with them.
Nice pattern, I'll tye it soon.
Many thanks!
Thanks Steph, good luck with it.
Excellent pattern that one Barry. I’ll have a go with it for sure. Thank you for another one dude.
Thank you dude.
Nice fly... and liked the Petitjean vice too ( just ordered mine yesterday ). I think this fly might work in Montana. I'll test it on the Gallatin. Colorado may be a different story. Size 24-26 flies are all the rage currently on the Eagle River. I did order your book from Amazon after watching your video. Thank you.
Hi Schmoonkie, thanks. You won't be disappointed with the vice its a great piece of kit. If you haven't see it its worth watching: ua-cam.com/video/x9WskBbooaU/v-deo.html Let me know what you think of the book when you get it.
@@Thefeatherbender Thanks. I've seen that video before. I also watched Marc tie flies on his vice on UA-cam. Your book should arrive today. You explained the reasons what sets your book apart from other books on the topic. That's why I bought your book. :-)
@@Thefeatherbender The book looks great. Beautifully photographed. I like the organization and the video links. I like the material references as well. I see that you're big on Mustad hooks. Though they're available in the US, I don't often see them referenced in fly recipes. So perhaps it would have helped to reference either similar hooks and/or reference the hook's properties ( e.g. 3X long shank, 2X heavy wire ). I'm building a database for myself, so that I'm not locked into a particular hook brand. As is, I have many thousands of hooks already. But a Google search helps me locate the hook I need to tie a particular fly for which I already have a similar hook. ( As for my new Petitjean vice, it's beautiful. I'll be playing with it when my wife is not around.... :-) ) I also own Regal and Renzetti vises. My favorite vise to date is my custom J-vice from South Africa--beautifully made and highly functional ( www.jvice.com ).
Really nice ty
Thanks Ed.
Hello Barry. Just a quick question. What is the particular speckled hen hackle you used on this fly and in what color? Thanks.
Hi, Its just a Indian hen cape that I have had for ages, I can't remember how long I'v had it, maybe 35 years...
@@Thefeatherbender Thanks Barry. I liked the look of that hackle and could use it on some other flies as well. ( I did look in the index part of your book, but didn't see this fly mentioned. )
@@Thefeatherbender Thanks Barry, I'll find a match. By the way, I'm on page 55 of your book to tie your Klinkhammer. Nicely photographed with detailed instructions.
I have had some increased demand for reversed hackle ...... my customers say they catch more fish .... I personally don't know that....I do know I have increased request for reversed hackle
Hi Jay, I don't think so. We have been fishing with reveres hackle patterns for 100s of years, but they will catch more if people fish only with them...
Killer!
Thanks Mr M.
