Dear Mr. Greg W., I do not know if you ever read this message. But I need to say this. Your voice, in my mind, will always be associated with Knut Hamsun. I finished listening to the Growth of the Soil on the 2019 new Year (during my darkest hours), and I finished the Hunger on January the 13th, three days after my grandmother passed away. But your voice always guides me through these dark hours, and I want to say thank you. I want to live one more day to hear your voice and the next chapter in Knut Hamsun.
Never thought about playing a game while listening to an audiobook.. I don’t really play games, but I can definitely think of a couple I could do this with.. thanks for the idea tho 🤟🏻
Wonderful, Very Original and quality Writing.. It Takes me to an all too familiar place, Absolutely one of the best in a long time! Thanks so much for the post
Kinda weak that some of the more grotesque parts of the book have been removed from this audiobook. The scene where he forces himself on Ylajali and the scene where the landlord is watching his wife have sex with a sailor in front of the old man. They are just skipped right over in the reading here.

This is just too damn annoying! Just beg and steal food. How could anyone be so conceited to allow themselves to starve before asking for food? Just on and on about being so hungry but being too ashamed to do anything about it. Just ask every person you pass. Ask for bread and employment at every shop!

God, this book is making me hungry.
This sounds like such a literal translation of every word. I'm pretty sure Knut didn't sound so stiff in his native language.
Thank you for sharing this story!
Thanks for posting this and great reading. I just started this one.
I see the thought police have forced Pacino to pull out of a play written by this guy

Henry Miler’s “The Books of My Life” for me

I haven't read the actual book with those scenes in it but judging from the type of scenes they cut, I'm glad they did.

I always pronounce Knut Nut--he was a little bit that way. Read any biography.

This is a rough book for me, his other book on the working of the earth by man was more to my liking.

this guy has amazing politics
His performance is so flat in the first 5 minutes.

Many die before they beg for food like a dirty dog
@Todd Foret what do you do when the landowners make that illegal more and more as they do already in america and have done forever?
you really did not get this book. Did you? And, I assume you believe Growth the Soil was just about a farmer. right????
I agree. The narrator became tiresome after a while.
