I think under Vince, WWE wanted to beat AEW. But a lot of Triple H's friends and people he mentored are in AEW so I don't think it would make sense to see them as a threat.

In the beginning when they got wind of a billionaire starting a promotion....maybe. But once they say the product, they could careless. Just me but I don't think AEW developmental system necessarily beat NXT, yes the ratings of AEW was larger than NXT no denying that and I personally like both shows and yes I did prefer the Black Gold version but mostly because of the roster anyway I say that AEW development didn't beat NXT because there wasn't really a developmental for AEW, NXT is basically a training program on TV as HHH said some have only been in ring for 8 months, AEW on the other hand Is mostly built with Indie Wrestlers that have been doing it for years and years as well as people from other companies be it ROH, TNA/Impact, NJPW, AAA, CZW even WCW, WWE/F,...Hell 1st I saw the Lance Archer I was like 14 and he was part of a Local Texas wrestling company called PCW his name was Shadow (Jazz came from there too) even before Nxt 2.0, AEW and NXT gave always been different tp a certain degree that makes them not fairly comparable, Black and Gold "competed" with AEW mostly during a pandemic while nxt was slashing superstars and AEW was Building Kenny Omega, Young Bucks, Darby Allin, Britt Baker ect. and then 2.0 competes with Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, a slew of former WWE superstars ( most considered to be unjustly let go by WWE) FTR, Malakai Black,Miro, Athena, Tony Storm, Ruby Soho, Samoa Joe, Claudio ect plus the acquiring of ROH and NJPW, AEW and NXT are just not the same
I am sorry but I disagree with Mr. Levesque. What I like most about NXT is the long time indie or ROH wrestlers that I didn't get to see cause I don't live in the US. I think NXT should be like 75% indie wrestlers and 25% home grown. I find the home grown not appealing enough cause they don't have that much experience outside WWE. Not sure who said it, in which podcast but basically what they said was that WWE homegrown talent is trained under the WWE system and it is very hard for to do with them stuff that are more unique as they are built into that WWE box.
How about NXT Black & Gold be for the Indy talent and NXT Level Up be for the home grown talent? Because ether way, the goal is for the NXT talent to move up to the main roster that HHH oversees now.
