    I think positive grid will be an enormous future for guitar tones.

    It's cool and all but a tone preset to download would make it 10/10

    So how does the desktop version and iPad versions differ sonically?

    • @thedudeofficial69
      @thedudeofficial69 7 років тому +2

      The versions don't really have a "sonic" difference. If you have a huge expensive in-home studio setup based on a desktop, of course it will sound better. But keep in mind, it should only sound better due to quality of speakers that are being used(ex. JBL 4300 series, Yamaha NS10, KRK Rokits, etc).

      vee necc Ok cool .. thanks for chiming in. I do have a pretty expansive home studio now days with several sets of monitors from Yamaha, Genelic, and Tannoy/Haefler Power Amps. So if lets say I'm running Bias Amp directly as a computer VST, and Bias Amp on my iPad Pro which is running through my Apogee Duet into the same computer and out the same studio monitors .. assuming eq's are matched .. would it sonically be the same? I have the complete suite of Positive Grid Apps and expansions on my iPad pro .. along with a handful of Tonecloud presets I like a lot, but I only have the demo VST's right now on the computer .. so I can't access all the Tonecloud stuff, so I'm trying to decide if its worth it to spend the coin on the desktop stuff .. or if thsts going to be too much redundancy. Thanks again 👍

      It _should_ be the same. I do not have the ipad version of bias myself, but a friend of mine does, and I put my tones on it from tonecloud and ran it through my speakers to test, and I couldn't tell a difference. Plus, currently running jbl4300's with a sub. Very easy to tell if a tone isn't right.

      It should be the same, which begs the question-Positive Grid, can you please explain the insane price difference between the desktop software and the iOS app? Just because it’s a plug-in, too, you charge 5x the amount?

    I know this is a dumb question. But what are they best starter packages to get to be able to play guitar through my computer like this? If someone could link me what to get o the website.

      All you need is a USB interface. A single channel one like the Scarlet Solo would be fine.
      Basically, you plug your guitar into the input of the interface with a normal guitar cable.
      Plug the interface into computer with supplied USB cable.
      Install the interface drivers, either off a disc if it comes with it or for free online.
      Get your Bias FX program which runs as stand alone too (don't need any other software to use it).
      Done!
      The last thing is you will probably need a 3.5m to 1/4" jack adapter if you want to plug PC speakers or headpones into the interface via its headphone slot. Most have stereo outputs at the back but unless you have studio monitors you probably can't connect to them.
      Oh and also! Because the interface functions as the soundcard as well, you will need to go into Windows/Mac Sound options and enable your interface. Otherwise you won't get any sound through it.
      Usually need to do the same thing in Bias FX settings as well.
