I love baseball. Such a great, fun sport with many components.

I ain't spending one dime on that bullshit... I've been doing Div1 Varsity high school baseball here in California for 10 years and let me tell you, I've been hit with 90+ fastballs many times. I've used only one vest and that is my West Vest by Wilson and it has protected me like a champ. It might be a bit bulky but I don't feel none of the impacts thank Wilson ja! Don't know if Jim's really works, however I'm not trusting my heart or ribs to something that is not battlefield tested like WV forget that.

but Kevlar isn't designed to block blunt force trauma, it is designed to stop a projectile from penetrating...that and he jumped out of the way then yelled like an idiot!

Best protector was the professional outside protector they used to use. One of the problems I noticed in a replay of a '68 world series game is the way the umpires handled the outside protector - that is, letting it dangle. Looked bad, frankly. The inside protector looks far better, of course, it's hotter and sweatier than the outside protector. I gave up using the outside protector on most games from about 12 year olds up a long time ago.
HIt twice on the either wrist this year, one because of the new fad of catchers (in MLB) nearly lying down on the ground and lining up on the outside corner. Virtually no protection in the slot. Tip: Don't work the normal slot if a catcher does this... but it's your butt handing out there - do what you want for cosmetic reasons. Hopefully you don't end up with a broken wrist or concussion at higher levels because the catcher can't reach the ball in time from way the hell on the other side of the plate, nearly laying down.

Why would you need plastic caps on your shoulders, and not over your heart and ribs? This logic escapes me. What's more important? Jim takes a glancing blow, on one pitch, and declares VICTORY. I want to see that company owner gear up, and take some shots like the Nutty Buddy guy. One after another. I'm not saying it doesn't work, it might be great. But I want better proof before I set aside my WV Platinum, and trust my life with this rig. I really want to buy one, and trust it, as the light weight, and flexibility must be awesome. Standing by for that next video. Jim Caldwell, gear up.

Jim Caldwell(seen at the 2:00 mark) is the man who took over for Wink Martindale for the 1985-1986 season of "Tic Tac Dough".

I saw in this week in baseball before Mel Allen passed away in the privacy of my family home that some MLB umpires leave the field with a gun in their pocket when they and the other three members of their umpiring crew leave the ballpark for the night please stay safe all year long especially during the MLB season!!!!!!!

Imagine Paying 800+ $ for an umpire camp all for just being setup to hear a sales pitch.... I’d literally request a refund

its $2000+ to attend the 5 week school to try and make umpiring your life's work. wtf are you talking about?

      Matthew N
All of that money for a big sales pitch.

    • @brady13001
      @brady13001 5 років тому +2

christopher draper not just a sales pitch. For that money you get a 4 star hotel for 5 weeks, free meals 6 days a week, use of a professional teams spring training facility, and a skill set that can either land you a job that could eventually give you a career as an MLB umpire or at bare minimum give you tools to umpire high school and college ball which pay pretty good on the side.

Matthew N yup for like 1% of those students that is what they will do... unfortunately the other 99% learned that
they can purchase a good chest protector for only 199.99, but wait theirs more... call now and they will throw in a free plate brush that was licked by Greg Gibson him self...

christopher draper you have no idea what you’re talking about. Plenty of people like you on UA-cam though.

they remind me exactly of correctional officers. they have a bad rep, the general perception of them is negative, they're generally disliked, yet there's no shortage of people looking to join

It's strange to see people training to be umpires. I always assumed they emerged fully formed from some fetid, accursed swamp.

You have to yell. Not only to assert your authority but also so they hear u over the crowd.
For example MLB games have thousands of people talking or chanting.
I'm not really into baseball but yeah
