Awaaaa, Mrs Cruzot and Mr. King! So good to see you all! I worked for Mr. King at the "Frenchy Sausage Company" at that time located on 20th street in the Heights! They were such a blessing to me and my family, they treated me like family! Love you all very much! From Sis Myra!

Why isn't this guy ( Chris Shepard) gone national? He is like the AL Roker of Food. This was a fabulous vlog on some Houston's top fried chicken 🍗 🐔 places and so much more. The diversity, bending of cultures and deep history all seamlessly told/highlighted by Chris was so enjoyable. Great job !!!

Chris Shepherd is former restaurateur and James Beard winner. Now he’s got a foundation (Southern Smoke Foundation) to help those in hospitality industry thru hard times. We love all his episodes, seems like a year ago he started this on Ch 2.

I grew up just down the road from BBQ Inn. I still drive into town to eat there whenever I can. Don't forget to stop by Flying Saucer Pie down the street to take one back home for later!

As a Houston local interested in the growth of the city and the growth of black businesses, I am so glad Frenchy's chicken was featured in the episode. Thank you Chris. However, Mr. CEO, Ernest Hunter II, please look into the location on 4403 East Fwy. I had to pick up food there for someone, the building was extremely dated and the environment was not very inviting and welcoming for a place to sit down and eat. The entrance was extremely dirty, like walking into a homeless person home. Inside was relatively clean and to my surprise, I saw just a couple waiting to eat inside but most of the orders were take away because of the look. You are less than 2 miles from downtown Houston, the demographic around that location are young professional with high disposable income, not to mention the food delivery services but you are losing a lot potential business with that building, it should be taking down and reconstructed asap please.

Great choices! Two Houston icons and one modern take on a classic.
One you missed was Himalaya on I-69 at Hillcroft. Desi spin on fried chicken. Chef Kaiser marinates the chicken in masala spices, and the result is incredibly flavorful. Check it out.

I have not found decent fried chicken in houston since I was a small child. I am in my fifties. See, if you do not enjoy greasy, spicy food, houston is a living hell.
