    The worst thing about it is, instead of being told by the law enforcement privately, they literally broke the news on a live radio broadcast. And there you are, just going through your day not knowing how or what to react.
    *Must have been hard as hell for the family to take the news at that period of time.*

    He sure did. He had a reaccuring dream since childhood. It was of a plane crash. He was terrified of flying. Buddy Holly talked him into going. The concert was booked. He should have listened to his dreams and intuition. It makes you wonder how much of life is predestined.

      that wasnt exactly the truth. la bamba was only 80% accurate he had a fear of flying but he never had reoccurring dreams in real life

    • @robertschumann7737

      Wrong wrong wrong. La Bamba was loosely based on him. He was not talked into flying that night by Buddy Holly. He bugged Buddy's guitarist all night about letting him have his seat. They were getting ready to leave when Buddy sent Tommy (his guitarist) back into the venue to make sure they didn't forget anything. He ran into Ritchie and Ritchie asked him again to let him fly. Tommy pulled out a half dollar and said "call it" Ritchie said "heads" and the rest is history. Ritchie didn't have a cold and wasn't sick. The Big Bopper was the one that had the cold. Ritchie was just tired of being on that cold bus. Tommy went on to a very long studio recording career and won a grammy in 2000. When Ritchie was a kid but wasn't at school at the time there was a plane crash over California and pieces came down and hit students just like they portrayed in the movie. Ritchie lost a friend but wasn't at school that day. It's important to remember when Hollywood makes a movie about a true person or story they will always care much more about drawing money than stating historically accurate. There was quite a bit about LaBamba that wasn't accurate.

    I loved the movie La Bamba as a kid and have literally watched over 100 times. That being said, movies are not real and people embellished the truth. Richie Valens begged Tommy Allsup over and over to fly on that plane and Allsup kept telling him no. Until he finally decided to flip a coin with Valens. Tommy Allsup died 57 years later.

      I think the movie La Bamba exaggerated whatever fears he did have. Before the crash that killed him, Ritchie performed at venues in various parts of the US that he would need to board an ✈️ to get to.

    When you look at the circumstances of the night, getting in that plane with that pilot in that weather was Absolutely STUPID! And not one of them saw that. Obviously, writing/singing hit songs doesn't make you smart. Sorry to say.

    • @partysugar519
      @partysugar519 8 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, all I can say is they must have really been cold, tired, sick, hungry , filthy just in a desperate way, which the movie does a good job of showing their desperation with the cold and the bus . I just think the biggest mistake mistake they made was taking off with a 21 year old pilot in a snow storm in the dark. Its just like you said .... at least a 3rd of those 3 was a certified genius. But that was not genius to trust a babyface piliot under such circumstance.. just a crazy crazy story . If I could bring back only one deceased musician , I think I would pick Ritchie.

    • @Dainty213
      @Dainty213 4 дні тому

      Easy for you to say because you know the outcome. I’m sure if they knew the pilot was inexperienced they would’ve changed their minds. It’s like if you get in a car with someone and then you pass away and we call you dumb because “you should’ve known better”.

    • @MrFargo1001
      @MrFargo1001 4 дні тому

      @@Dainty213 Hey, anyone who gets into a Piper Cub on a snowy night better make sure the Pilot is experienced. Anyone stupid enough not to do that is usually gonna be in for a Bad surprise. Always remember: Flying's easy. Landing kills ya.

    The pilot was “star struck” and made this fatal mistake. One day the truth will be told. As one who flies small aircraft. overall cargo WEIGHT is the most important part of a safe flight. Boarding BIG BOPPER was the fatal mistake.
    When we fly we’ve left people behind way before we reach the limit. It’s too bad no one explores this fact. Had the BIG BOPPER not gotten on, the music would not have died
