    I have only seen 2 bison scapula hoes held with collectors (then I acquired and donated to my wifes Tribe). BOTH had the longitudinal reinforcement rib ground completely off...these were from the lower Michigan/"Michiana" border area....I guess ground off for performance as intended for a hoe. Also acquired a deer scapula hoe from Wisconsin, STILL IN ACTIVE USE by a very elderly Native woman, .....seen is actual use......still with original hafting and andle

      As you indicate, they are scapula hoes with the spine ground off. Nice that they have been returned to your wife's tribe!
      Do you happen to have photos of the deer scapula hoe that was still in use? We would be interested in seeing how it was hafted.
