Glad to see you back Mr. Clark. We all missed you so. But so glad you had a wonderful time on that island with so much beautiful scenes and blue seas. And thanks for this terrific painting. The rocks, seas and ripples are authentic looking and so are the skies. There is a question I want to ask. Should I use oil pastell or chalk pastell? I have some oil pastells and I would like to know if they're appropriate.

    • @ArtbyPaulClark

Thanks Jillian - I would use the chalk based pastels - the oil ones are fat to sticky!

This has to be my favorite tutorial of yours ever! Water and beaches are what I truly love and I’ve been focusing on painting them lately along with boats. I grew up on the water so this one is special. Thanks so much and I can’t wait to try this one tomorrow ! You’re the very best 😀

Love this painting. I was going to say how nice those rocks came out but actually everything looked so good. It all came out beautifully. I love the way you use pastel pencils in the end to finish up. It really adds to the painting. I never used those enhancements before, like pastel pencils or gouache. But I see many artists using them now and it really finishes a painting out quite nicely. Love this one ❤

Hats off for going beyond most tutorials with the rocks and tree shade on the water. I always avoid painting rocks as I have had such poor results, but with your technique of the card, it looks doable 😂 though you only make it look easy. Your figures, also very helpful and believable, thanks for the finishing touches, pastels, really brings the scene to life. Loved the musical offerings and that they all had an accordions ! Salute to you 🍺

I live in Venice Mestre, in a historic residence (Villa Malvolti) which has always been a good subject for me. I was an illustrator and cartoonist and taught watercolor for twenty years. I like your free technique, not conditioned by the traditional school which does not accept the use of white. I also used a mixture of water and bleach sometimes using the nib and interesting effects come out, especially rocks and water. My name is due to the fact that I am Scottish, but I have lived in Italy since I was a child. I like to think I'm a descendant of William Payne who created Payne's Grey! I follow you with pleasure. As if I were walking around with you looking for watercolor places!

I look forward to each video, and this is also my favorite artist on UA-cam. I also watched other artists, but he is special, because he knows how to communicate with the audience, win the hearts, you immediately trust him, behaves relaxedly, at ease, he has a gift from nature not only talent, I mean, but also sociability.
