Spent 31 years as a FF/medic and flight nurse. That is a tough scene in so many ways. Incredible that they got there at the time they did as that SUV is pretty burnt up and his cloths are still intact. He would have burnt to death within minutes. For sure he suffered bad burns to the head/face, right arm/hand and side. He was pinned and not able to take full breaths combined with unhealthy dose of smoke inhalation hence the fast shallow breathing. I was thinking when the flames started up again in the trailer that it was time to go old school and grab a truck and pull the vehicle back. I didnt realize until other views just how entangled it was in the trailer and that wasnt going to work. Fire guys were one step ahead of me. I was then thinking cut that seat back and get him some room to breath and they did that as well. Really solid job by the guys on scene. Hats off.

Mongo, I agree with you. After watching scenes of awful car crashes (especially the Russian ones), it teaches you to be really aware of the mistakes other car drivers can make...especially cars that shoot out from side streets...that one stops being complacent and becomes extra alert for other people's mistakes while also controlling one's own driving. At least that is valid for me.

I would think they would give him some kind of pain, medication, or anti-anxiety medication or both while he’s in the car. It looks like they have an IV going and could do that. I understand that sometimes that can mask issues but I don’t think a little bit to take the edge off is going to make a difference. As far as the medical examination goes we could make a big difference for him.

Great job to the hard work for the first responders. Just a couple of observations. The injured driver should have gotten an oxygen mask. When you pour water on the fire this white smoke is suffocating and clearly he was covered a few times with it. And the other one, I am not sure if the 2 trucks were pulling back the SUV with a chain, if they did, people stay away from the snapping point, if that chain brakes many know what can happen.

That's a pretty bad one. Glad they got him out alive. I did a TC while I was with heavy rescue at SBCoFD. Two door coupe lost control & wrapped itself around a rural mail box with the I beam stuck in the ground with 4 male victims. Driver easily extradited, 1 DOA, two rear passengers were trapped. Took awhile to unwrap the car from them. One eventually died enroute. Next day, we learned that they were all related (brothers/cousins) and was coming back from a funeral. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Now the surviving driver would no doubt harbor this for the rest of his life.

Everybody is afraid of snakes, but I don’t get it. The fear of getting trapped inside a burning car is way worse, just imagine you are driving with your loved ones but Then a semi truck crashes into you, flips your car upside down and your loved ones are dead. Not only did you just crash your car, your seatbelt gets jammed but, wait fire starts and you see the corpse of your loved ones burning and you have to smell the scent of your family’s flesh cooking. Now it’s up to you to get out of the car but you try as hard as you can to break out of the jammed seatbelt while the fire gets closer and closer to you, then you start screaming for mercy that you don’t burn alive and the car explodes before your flesh starts cooking

It showed him in what looked like a potentially hopeless predicament then, *POOF* he's on a gurney, on the way into an ambulance! I cannot be the only one who comes here for the PROCESS?? To see how they puzzle and prize the twisted metal away without further damage to the human??!! To pull the truck out from under, and roll the dash off the gentleman; maybe removing the roof, or not. Will they take him out the top, or the door? Which pillars will be cut and in what order? Will seats come out, doors come off? It's a fascinating PROCESS... and this video LEFT IT ALL OUT. sigh. Maybe next time.
