Great coverage again lads, rig worker myself however next couple of years planning to get on the ERRV or PVS Nice to see the other side being the one who chats to the boats all day!
This is an ERRV (Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel). It’s always surprised me that there are so few of these type of vessels in the American oil fields.
@@Bigwavemaster1 They rely on the U.S.Coast Guard for needed assistance. The CG has helicopters and several bases around the Gulf of Mexico, and all the coasts. I imagine Mexico has something in place for their interests in the Gulf.
I don't know the footage on the small boat, but it has the same design as the Coast Guard 44ft. Search and Rescue (SAR) boats, minus the sweet turbine engine. The design of the 44ft. boats allows them to do a complete roll, and right themselves. They are used in heavy seas for.that reason. In the U.S., generally the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and from Massachusetts, up to the north eastern states, and of course, the Great Lakes.✌😺
Awesome.....reminds me of in my time on the USCG.doing law enforcement on the high seas ....getting on board a vessel to do a LE Boarding fm a 17 ft Zodiac....only a jacobs ladder.....and a good grip....
And you guys called us SAR crews nuts?? LOL Formerly one of Uncle Sam's Confused Group, myself. Ran SAR out of Base Galveston in early 80's. Point Hope was our LE cutter. A big strong, and sturdy vessel. Interesting to watch. Gorgeous sunset! You guys are such hard workers. Stay safe and may the Lord protect you on your journeys.⚓👍🙏
I worked on an ERRV in the early 1980's specifically built for the task like this one. I look at the converted trawlers I see that after Piper Alpha seemed to be the solution for standby vessels and I just shook my head.
It was Piper Alpha that changed the industry. The Cullen Report laid out strict guidelines which meant that most converted trawlers were no longer acceptable.
