I knew you were a Christian when I saw your dad and your brothers, also when I saw your beautiful family. I just bought a VW t2 and restoring it right now. I’m inspired by your story so much. Blessing!
Great story nice video! Where's the other updated video from the progress? It seems to be coming out great so far on the body work! Wow! Nice find! Iam sure you and your family will enjoy forever great memories on this lovely bus!
It took a long time to find a samba some 30 years ago. Most were in bad shape. There were no replacement panels available. No internet either. I still own it. You have/had the jewel in the crown. Best of luck on your next one.

Just a guess...JJJ boys are doing your metal work? Your bus is in good hands!! Cant wait to see this bus finished. Ignore the bad comments....that paint looked crispy. I thought it would of been worse. Great work so far!
JJJ didn’t do the metal work. It was done at 317 Custom Vee Dubs in Chilliwack. It was quite the surprise when we got it back from media blasting. The top section looked like it was welded to the lower section with piles of chewed up bubble gum. I was really surprised that the roof didn’t break off.
@@johnniebalfour1666 It's always a crap shoot with these buses. Yours looks like it's on the way to have many more fun miles on the road. I drive mine as much as I can. Somewhere there's a 57' 23w missing it's top.
well guy's you have my respect for such a job , restoring and put back in his old glory, i love this van , i wish i could do the same , unfortuniatly i have so many issues to solve.., but i hope , i still keep hoping that i can do such a project when i'm retired, (1yearmore), because this is my ultimate dream, the engine of this van is so awesome, its like a spurring cat!!! and you have my respect for such a great job..............

This bus is by no means as bad as some I've seen, and certainly just needed the right people to work on it. Id say it found the right owner. Goodonya as we say here in oz.
Those things are as scarce as rocking horse shit. They are worth a fortune. Mike Wolfe from American Pickers was after one of these on one of his programs.

What are your plans for the engine are you going to rebuild the original engine and reinstall it back in the bus or are you going to subaru engine swap it?
Wish I had a shop like that that work on my bus vs the one that welded in some parts and bondo’d the rest. Always better to do it right. Somebody in the future is going to hate what they find but oh well.
The thing with old cars like the beetle, muscle cars etc is that parts are available, both second hand and aftermarket parts. Let that sink in.. after market parts. This is a good thing for DIY's and regular people that want to keep regular cars that became classics. Fast forward to today and this is a problem to modern manufacturers, that old cars ARE able to be repaired increasing the 2nd hand market which represents otherwise massive loss in New car revenues. This is because of availability of after market parts, tools required for repairs are not commonly available, people are legally able to make repairs and independent repairers are able to repair. Manufacturers then turned to stamp out the 2nd hand car market by: Limiting ability of third party repairers Denying ability of OEM manufacturers to create after market parts Denying would be independent manufacturers from recreating parts by copyright laws Creating specialised tools Denying 3rd party repairers access to the specialised tools Legally locking use of specialised tools by copyright laws. Legally locking repairing own cars (see right to repair laws which was challenged). The beetle and contemporary cars of the 60's,70's, 80's and even most 90's cars got through the noose, however all newer cars are caught up in the noose. The only 2nd hand market are the ones Manufacturers want, essentially the models they choose to keep parts supply support for a very long time. These cars are usually the ones that are special, low volume and were expensive to begin with and only for the rich. Regular cars that become a long time classic and able to be restored and maintained by the regular person is now long gone.
