You've found real gem
Debatebly their best song is " Prithibi ta naki choto hote hote " which was later remixed by Pritam (ofc) as " Bheegi Bheegi "
Then I must say you are yet to explore Mohiner ghoraguli my friend.😊
@@Abhi_1996 well i've heard almost all of their songs , but personally yk Prithibi ta is one classic for me ... cuz I grew up hearing that, so it has a different place in my heart
Only thing pritam can do
Popular doesn't mean best,
though it's one of the greatest song they have.
Most popular song maybe, best I don’t know. Every single one is a master piece
Please check out more iconic Bengali bands like Cactus which have songs like Halud Pakhi, Bodhu Re and Mon! Listen to the studio versions first since concert recordings are not always high quality. Love your reactions and commentary!
+1
Cactus is my favourite.. Pota's voice is something else..
They should also check out bhoomi, fossils, chandrabindu and others
The lead vocalist of Fossils, Rupam Islam is actually an apprentice/student of Gautam Chattopadhyay. But the relationship was more like Abhimanyu had with Dronacharya. No direct lessons. Learning by just watching.
Who Informed You Of This BS ??
@@surpagal Nachiketa said it while Rupam himself was standing beside him in a Bengali TV show. Rupam himself too said it at the Soul Local festival last year before signing one of his songs. I was present there.
@@jaydeepsen4769 - which TV Show ??
@@surpagal I don't remember it but you can search it in UA-cam with Rupam fight with jury
Nah bro! he was not, but he definitely was a big fan of Gautam Chatterjee, they spent time in musical discussions and they planned to make some music together but it never happened as he passed away. And I got this information from Rupam Islam himself on Rupam On The Rocks SEASON 1
I am very happy man , you are discovering almost forgotten and not known to many bengali rock. 🤩
Why do they matter so much to you?
@@amalendusarkar9969 they are emotions , nostalgia , if you haven't heard them then u won't understand
I want to say to both of you, thank you!! The first song in Arko's voice brought tears to my eyes as we as a state are going through a tough time. A nostalgia of childhood rushed through blood. How I wish old days would come back. #wewantjusticeforrgkar

Probably most bengalies can sing... it's a fact. Very rarely you will find bengalies out of tune..❤
Yaa..
Mostly right
Not really. The far you go from Kolkata ,or bigger cities people don't care much about Rock .
I'm from a village near Medinipur & I discovered this whole rock genera after moving to Medinipur in my late teen days
@@ayanmandal7470 he is talking about singing capabilities not only rock
hafta agree here. Bong without Song ... nyaah !!!
... and tune? Isn't that a genetic gift for everyone ???? those generations of Tabla, Harmonium and Bisharod trainings to children for generations. Rock is just another "rock" - right?
These guitars and drums are new - but the new bongs are still leading here too.
Bengali rock is lyrically the most beautiful With political , social and spiritual hidden meaning in them. Also the most mature sounding ; not just some loud lead guitarist or double pedal continuously rampaging on. Just the right amount. We are the pioneers of Indian rock. There are many who would say that they are not an Indian rock band but a rock band from india . If you know you know.
Goutamda is our god...and he started an revolution...in 70's Bengal observed a bloody revolution by Naxalites...who they were very very brilliant students of Bengal...but...anyways...Comrade Goutamda love you...✊️✊️✊️
Baul music is basically West Bengal's Country music but better 😊
Its mostly from the Bolpur - Shantiniketan region known for its kashbon.
@@jaydeepsen4769 I'm disagree with the statement, well , Baul samrat Purno Das Baul belong to Suri even Ratan Kahar belong to Suri (however he is not a part of Baul-sampraday) , so if you consider Baul phenomenon is only in Bolpur this is a wrong idea or statement , I would say, Baul root is even larger than Birbhum , it is spread across the both part of Bengal, from Murshidabad, Rajshahi to Medinipur , Khulna or might be it cover even more broader area. And if you want to tag Baul with country or folk this is also untrue , coz it is the cultural, spiritual movement started against castism, Islamic extremism etc.
O my god...!!!!!!! Goosebumps all over my body, tears in my eyes.. love from kolkata and a Bengali.. ❤
All Bengalis can feel that..
You found a true gem, and you glanced over Subrata Ghosh singing Neel Sagore, another gem, if I'm not mistaken, Gautam Chatterjee passed away before he could record that song, and Subrata Ghosh had only heard Gautam Chatterejee sing it once and after so many years he sung it in that video, but he sang it with slightly wrong lyrics in one of the stanzas, but his version became so popular that everyone now covers the song keeping that mistake in the lyrics. Subrata Ghosh corrected the lyrics in an interview and on the comments of the video you played at @08:45
All this is to say that Moheener Ghoraguli and Gautam Chatterjee's influence on Bengali Music is incredibly far reaching.
I'd recommend checking out "Sohorer ushnotomo dine" by Garer Math, Subrata Ghosh was the lead singer.
Arko Will be always remembered by all Nepalese too for his folk fusions....
I hope you check them sometimes...!!!
"Bheegi Bheegi" from 'Gangster'by Pritam has been taken from Mohiner Ghoraguli's "Prithibi ta Naki"
ua-cam.com/video/TLoICmZ44gw/v-deo.htmlsi=wJ9StxMyIH12k9r6
bheegi bheegi was from the movie gangster
@@rishavsengupta7595 my bad! thanks for correcting 👍
They were In my uni last year, and the first footage you saw, it was in my college.... I was there shouting my lungs out 😂😂😂
That’s amazing!!! That’s why I love this community! Tell me more bout it!
@@Waleska-Herrera So basically, the lead singer Gautam is on if our alumni's (from Presidency University, Kolkata) along with one of the guitarist if I am not wrong. So that is why most of our fundraisers and fests and even various cultural events invite them, because this college is a heritage which is almost 210 years old now, yet we still like to preserve our Bengali heritage and cultures. And who better then Mohiner Ghoraguli.
Kon university??
@@Waleska-Herrera: Calcutta and North East India are pretty big on Rock, Jazz and Blues. There's an annual festival in Shillong (in Meghalaya) called Cherry Blossom - where Akon et. al. will be in the lineup in Nov. 2024.
You should also cover "Usha Uthup". She started at a bar called Trincas at Park Street, Calcutta. And she went on to record over 100 Albums and has sung in seventeen Indian and eight foreign languages. 😇
Heard it first time....however love this song so much, so needed to add to my library immediately and have to explore this band😍.....thanks to you guys for presenting me with this new band.🙌
You can also check out fossils band
Every other bengali person is a music maestro 😂😂😂😂 they sing so well , they play so many different instruments 😂😂😂😂
They were one of the earliest rock bands from Bengal.
No. Actually "Underground Peace Lover" (created in 1972 in Dhaka) was the first Rock band with lyrics in Bengal. Mohiner Ghoraguli was created in 1980
This gentleman’s name is Arko Mukherjee, who was singing. He is a legendary underrated person in India and Kolkata as well. I have attended his concert and live music show. He is so good! And can sing in many different languages as well
Check out Anjan Dutta and Kabir Sumon.
WOW!! What music! This is one of the best discoveries in music I have heard in a long while.
And it is Near about 50 years old ...😊 gem ❤
Absolute Goosebumps. I grew up listening to these songs and they're in my veins and arteries that made me who I am as a person. For us Bengali's culture is a very important things. Watch more videos related to this. You won't regret it. ❤
Thankyou. Only a small slice of bollywood followers will know about Mohiner Ghodaguli and origins of rock in India in the 70s in Calcutta. Bangla rock bands hv a scene, which hasnt yet evolved in indiepop or other languages, basis my limited view. "Bauls" were wandering minstrels from 15th century onwards linked to the "Bhakti" movement, & the baul-jazz-blues-rock is a genre by itself. The bollywood rip off from Mohiner Ghodaguli "Prithibita chhoto hothe hothe" was on a song in the film Gangster (Bheegi bheegi se hi raat). Thanks again. Unexpected.❤
Vocals are actually from baul culture in Bengal. But the instruments the of jazz culture
Glad to know these masterpiece present in india 🇮🇳 love from up 😊
Cause once one of the great singer(arijit) said kolkata crowd is one of the surila(melodious)crowd😊..not just kolkata Bengali crowd in general
What a find!!
Mohiner Ghoraguli is Legendary. But even many indians will agree that If you want to see the real Rock music scene. Check out Bangladeshi rock music
I am Bengali.. I am from India🇮🇳 kolkata..

Thanks for covering the iconic band .. this is one of the reason to be proud as a Bengali
Irrespective of India or Bangladesh, every middle class Bengali family knows this song about the proletariats..... Reflecting our romanticism towards Marx and Engles

And also in this particular show, which occured at academy of fine arts, Kolkata; I worked at back stage... Also the stage and light designed by again one of my elder brother Joyraj Bhattacharjee...at last... Thank you... Bengali music is a gem mine... Explore more...
While Mohinir Ghoraguli is one of Kolkata/West Bengal's iconic band from the 1970's rock and roll era, I don't think there was anyone more emblematic of that period's excellence than Pota.
Here he is with one of his most famous songs, "Kalankini Radha", a song that, unfortunately, glorifies patriarchy. The composition and Pota's rendition, however, are flawless.
Efra, you in particular, will be interested in the sound of the "ghunguroo" (anklet bells) coming in off-beat at the third count of each bar after the first verse.
Don't miss the bass guitar work and backup vocals.
ua-cam.com/video/O1sVmvQE2XM/v-deo.htmlsi=KBS7p_PZr5q_n2GM
What!!!kalankini Radha glorifies patriarchy!! Have you listened to the whole song?😅
@@samratsarkar1257 have you ever heard the term "Kalankin Krishna"?
@samratsarkar1257 Both Radha and Krishna were married to people other than each other, Krishna to Rukmini, Radha to Krishna's mother's brother. Both were adulterers. Yet only Radha gets the accolade of "Kalankini."
That is the very first and most damning indicator of patriarchy.
Second, the lyrics of the song keep telling Radha what to do, as if she doesn't have a mind or will of her own, "don't go there", "don't do that", etc.
I'm willing to wager it is a male prohibiting her from exercising her free will. No such "guidance" for Krishna, who is just as guilty (Kalankini) as Radha is.
Sounds like 1,00,000% patriarchy to me.
Or perhaps because you believe that you, as a male, have a right to tell women what to do, you are a closet misogynistic patriarch yourself.
Your inability to recognize patriarchy when it is slapping you in the face is evidence of your misogyny.
@@nirajgupta3019 sir I think you misinterpreted it in a prejudiced way. please rethink 🙏🏻😅
I cant believe my eyes,
please do more reaction form Bengali bands .
It is amazing you people find our gems and enjoying. This band was ahead of their time. It got huge public liking from late 90s.
Guys the songs are by the Band Mohineer Ghoraguli, although the artist singing is Arko Mukherjee.
Thank You for listening to this.... absolute mavericks they were... Mohiner Ghoraguli! Love from Kolkata ❤
If u want to hear Original Arijit Singh, please listen Ariji's new Song "AAR KOBE".. It's will make u cry and the lyrics, uff goosebumps guarented

Emotion..❤. Bengalis and true music fanatics from Indians would understand. You hit the right chord guys. Now it truly makes sense subscribing to you for these many years
First Adventurous Rock Bank which was ahead of time to be recognized by the public and hidden under the curtain of the popularity of Other Musicians who successfully broadcasted their music like Salil Choudhury, Hemanta Biswas, Nachiketa Ghosh etc. and many other Legends of that time
For us Mohiner Ghoraguli is not a band it is pure emotion.....❤❤❤❤❤
True Indian Rock started with Bengal.... Period
Glad you found it, they are one of the pioneers of Rock music in Indian subcontinent.
It's a song about the lower income people group who works most but didn't get paid as well as they deserved.
Proudly a Bengali ❤...... Thanks Guys for this reaction
Check out also Dohar(folks band)
i'm really thankful to you guys for rediscovering our forgotten gems...
Moheener Ghoraguli- was an icon of West Bengal, India- their songs are still very popular in pop culture.
One of the clips around 8:46 min , was in my living room in Milpitas California 😊☺️!
Please check out Cactus, Prithibi band.. Those Rock bands are also emotion to every Bengali Specially who were born in the 90s.
Songs like Holud pakhi, Mon, Bodhu re from Cactus and College from Prithibi are great.
just so you know "Mohin's horses" are actually seahorses. Look at their logo. It's the symbol of fusion of styles and creative resistance against dogmas.
Some misunderstanding somewhere.
Mohiner Ghodaguli (literally translated as "The Horses of Mohin") was a Bangla rock band formed in the early 1970s which is now disbanded.
The video perhaps is not showing Mohiner Ghodaguli but Arko Mukherjee, another iconic singer of Bengal who is indeed singing a cover of "Mohiner Ghodaguli:.
Please react to Aishwarya Rai crazy Kiya re song from Dhoom 2 ❤️
This song is about the class struggles of the working class and about loving life...
And therefore, most of the people relate to it from their lives...
The depth of lyrics is just amazing... and the cacophony of this will be felt if you ever visit Kolkata, and is able to speak with the bands, and the people of Bengal!!!
"They were musically forward" that's the correct observation
Pls make a part 2 of Indian drama ost reacting to these....
1.Tere liye(male and female)
2.Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon( title track, Rabba ve)
3.Phir bhi na maane badtameez dil( song - Mere nishaan, Yaadein teri)
4.Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai title track
5.Ek duje ke by Antara Mitra(from yrkkh)

Amazing you guys discovering one of the OGs in Bengali music ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Modernization of Music and the Amulgamation of Indian Music with Western and Oriental Music was Done First by Bengalis in India. Hence the Type of Bollywood Music you hear now... The Path was laid by Bengali Music Composers. No One Can deny It in India. Even Mexican or Spanish Amulgamation was done by Bengalis. You better start first listening to Progressive Old Rocks of Bengal... You will at a certain point forget it is a Bengali Song all together.
Fossils
Chandrabindu
Bhoomi
Name of Bengali Bands ❤ .
But most famous is Fossils!
Bcz we Bengalis Relate to their songs too much. Still today they make us go crazy ! Google most famous songs fossils. And Fossils live also.

Wow, that sounds incredible!
Here, i want to let you know if you remember one of Indonesia's artists, Alffy Rev, who made Wonderland of Indonesia that you've had reacted last year, is coming back with another incredibly mesmerizing music video. I would love to see your reaction!
You must listen all of their songs to know about them, How they had merged western music with Indian genre,
They were ahead of their times
I'm so glad you've discovered Bangla rock and its pioneers! You need to do a deep dive into this genre. It would've been even better if you could understand the lyrics because a lot of Bengali rock music has very meaningful lyrics that are a commentary on social and political issues.
When You'll check Bangladeshi bands You'll be surprised to watch their talent & contribution in the music industry. ❤
Bangladeshi bands are just copy paste of western rock music with Bengali lyrics. Nothing innovative.. very mediocre
Gautam & crew was minimum two & half decades ahead by thinking , by living , by believing.
'Neel sagore' by Gautam Chattopadhyay is something else👌❤
Thanks for this reaction video. You do have touched one part of the Bengali soul through the songs of Maheener Ghiraguli. The songs have become almost a cult for the band music lovers. And off course Gautam Chattopadhyay started a new era in Indian music, though, may be every Indian does not know or acknowledge this fact. Thanks again to both of you.
Finally the OGs of Indian rock
Bengali is the sixth most widely spoken language in the world and lingua franca to around 300million people around the world . Bengali is primarily spoken in the Indian States of West Bengal and Tripura and the nation of Bangladesh . There is a sizeable Bengali diaspora in Spain and we love Julio Iglesias .
love from India kolkata West Bengal .
Thank you very much for bringing Bengali songs to the world❤
I love this song, the vibe and everything about it.
As soon as you played the video, I stated singing the hymm. That's how we are connected.

The song depicts the feeling of workers in those early industrialization period
You missed the song " Prithibi ta naki chote hote hote". The guitar lead is out of this world.
You've found a real gem from the sea music ❤ keep up the good work
Hey guys! I would really love to see ur reaction to FELIP's Myx Live performance yesterday. He sang a couple of songs from 7Sins.
Please react on Bengali Baul song. It's a type of Bengali folk.
Indian bengali rock bands are very much influenced by Baul songs.
This brings back a lot of nostalgia
Lots of Love from Bengal Kolkata ❤
