This is a great video. It addresses many issues newbie piano buyers will face while venturing forth into uncharted waters who have no experience with what they are getting into. Years ago I could go into any small town and find a mom and pop or chain store music store. Today you have to travel many miles to a big city to find a piano store.
If you want to buy a used instrument on something like Craiglist, add a 1000$ of what you paid. Half to move by professional and half for tuning and adjustement by a professional technician. Play it for 2 years and if you stick to it that long, upgrade. First piano (acoustic or digital) < 1000$ Second
Such great advice. Thanks guys. As a longtime hobbyist who's spent 50 years trying to play guitar, piano, and accordion (note the word trying), so much of what you say can be directed towards all my instruments. You guys rock-- next time I leave SC to visit Austin-right after the Alamo, I want to visit Alamo Music.
so i bought a baby grand piano on marketplace for $500. just needed tuning and a regulation. so you get lucky sometimes. I also got a 1917 heintzman 55 inch upright that needs a full restoration, so do your homework and get a tech to cheeck it out

Hello. I am in the market of buying a used upright. I found a Yamaha m1e and a Kawai cx4, both in pretty great shape. Which one should I get?
Looking at a Yamaha n100 - outdated but cheap…thoughts?
