Raining today (December 23rd 2020) in The Netherlands, so lets watch an older video of BikeBlogger, riding in summertime. I wish I could ride this trail one day, looks so quiet.
Thanks for the video. Nice to see that at least the Katy is being maintained, even if the roads aren't. It's probably the biggest thing I miss about living in the US. The MKT from Columbia to McBane is a nice spur off the Katy.
I know you don't want to drive that far... but I would like to see the next leg of the KATY Trail. I just got done watching this complete video for the second time.
I know, it's becoming a whole day thing though and it's hard to find that much time at the moment. Cycling to work is easy because it actually saves me some time because I can get a little fitness along the way rather than waste the time sitting in a car.
This is part of the trail is my favorite. Especially during high heat. The section between Bluffton and Portland is like riding through a forrest. Great Video!
I like that your riding a Wal- Mart bike showing you don't have to have expensive bike to get into biking. I think it is funny that you have a lot of trolls giving you crap about Wal Mart bike especially when it is commuter and gravel bike. I'm surprise that you're using a road bike on gravel but it doesn't appear that you have any problems. I just bought a Felt Verza road bike and worried about riding on gravel roads with it.
Great Video BikeBlogger! Tomorrow i'm purchasing a new bike (since mine got stolen) and i figured it was a sign saying I should move to a Road Bike. The bike i'm getting is indeed a Walmart bike, but I figured it's something to start with.. The Genesis Road Tech. With is pretty much as the same caliber as the Denali, but with a few differences such as shifting.
Looks like they are going to finally connect my city (Kansas city) with your city on the Katy. Rumor has it also that Kansas wants to get connected. Rail to trail will be involved.
Wow. 2 hours. 15 miles back to back. I'm a new subscriber and I'm impressed. As I knew I would be. I did more than that once. Lasted till morning. What's your longest ride?
Great video Bikeblogger! Really enjoy the Katy trail videos! Have you considered doing a weekend long ride on the Katy Trail and do like a 4-8 your video? 😁 That would be really cool! Be careful out there my friend, take care!
SolarReturn Thanks, SolarReturn. I have considered it, but more planning would be needed. I'd love to be able to just jump on the bike and ride as far as possible though.
BikeBlogger There are quite a few B&B along the Katy, or even better maybe you could ask your subscribers along the trail to couch serf. Less prep. US kids would benefit from more education at school and less team sports at school. Most other countries have sports, but they are out side of school and there aren't fustrated coaches pretending to be teachers.
I watched the whole video and feel entitled to comment. bike blogger, I love your videos! wow. I ordered a purefixcycle, but I'm from houston, and there's cars everywhere.. I hope I can ride like you!
Tarzan Sean Thank you, Tarzan Sean, comments always appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the video! Cool to hear you got a bike. Start slow and see if there are any trails or quiet streets around your town then progress to busier roads as you feel comfortable. You'll get there. ;)
Great video racer, It reminded me of rides I did, Way way back when I was 17 teen, And men were men and women had not been invented, We chassed after the Holy-Grail, But Lord Monty Python beat us to it. Any who, Our Grail was London to the City of Bath 100 miles, And back, On a bicycle, In one day. 200 miles, I made it in 16 hour's, 15 m.p.h. I ended in great shape coming down the great north road in to London. I have spent the rest of my life chasing women.
I found the secret of turning lactic acid burn in to adrenalin, And just ride away from the wheel takers. Let your cadence find you. If the fast men follow you, You have their measure, It's satisfying to see them turn around and head for home, Nights of victory.
In one of your videos that you make next, could you talk about what is the best, cheapest speedo that has distance you have rode, calories you've burn, ect. please and thanks. Keep up the awsome videos.
Hello Tylerbrown Vloggers. I use a basic wired bike computer by Sigma. It is discontinued but the newer models should be just as good. I talked about it here ua-cam.com/video/49VP4xpU76c/v-deo.html
The GMC Denali is a Wal Mart bike, that's where I bought mine in 2005. I think it's technically made by Schwinn or something but as Wal Mart bikes go it's surprisingly reliable. I did a few century rides on mine and a handful of races. The frame is sitting semi disassembled in the storage shed. I'm tempted to someday build it up with some really high performance parts just for fun lol carbon wheels and stuff. I just think it would be funny.
liked this video alot. Definitely had some really funny moments. loved the "no offence to any higher being" lol. some things do look cut and paste out in the trails xD
I finally took the plunge and bought a 25" GMC Denali bicycle from Walmart for $168 plus some change and tax. Its one of the few low cost bicycles with a large frame. I'm going to toss the handle bars and put straight mountain bike bars on it. I may also change the stem. Every time I research the GMC Denali on UA-cam these long ride videos of yours show up so I end up watching part of them. Its too bad you got rid of this bicycle, but I understand why you did. I think it would be more interesting to see you riding a low cost bicycle from time to time that almost anyone can afford to purchase. I just had an expensive bicycle frame crack on me, and the manufacturer warranty was only for 1 year, so I am out of luck. Amazingly, this low-cost GMC Denali bicycle comes with a lifetime frame warranty for the original owner of the bicycle. Unfortunately the warranty doesn't transfer over to a new owner if you sale or give the bike away. We declared our independence from Great Britain and not UK. I don't think there was a UK back than.
Hey, BB. I just received the Fall 2016 edition of Rails to Trails magazine, and they have an article (featured on the front cover) on the Katy Trail. I thought you might be interested. If you don't get the magazine, you can view the story at railstotrails.org.
realsc00ter Hello, realsc00ter. I think I took the stickers off first thing when I got the bike because I don't like logos/ads. You can use something like Goo Gone to help. You can also use a hair dryer but be careful not to damage anything - not recommend on the wheel rims.
Hi Elizabeth Kelley. It could be one of many things. The saddle is too low or too high and the height needs to be adjusted because otherwise you might be slipping around (the right height is when your leg is fully extended on the downstroke with your heel on the pedal - so when riding with the ball of your foot on the pedal your leg is slightly bent on the downstroke). The saddle shape is not right for your body. ua-cam.com/video/ZVC9E7Gw-18/v-deo.html As you ride more your will develop the muscles to ride longer. Special clothing is available to provide some cushioning.
Saddle height is not really an issue for how the saddle feels (edit: I mean in getting saddle pain or not). Saddle too low means too much stress on the knees, and you feel it in the upper leg muscles. Saddle too high means rocking of the hips, not good but not really an issue in how the saddle feels. Saddles need to give support. A too thick soft layer is especially bad as it will cut off circulation (in the soft tissues). The best is proper, i.e. hard, support around the sit bones. I ride almost always Brooks or other leather saddles, no problems at all, for short rides of a a few 100m to a shop, to up to 170 km in a day. Further essential are to select the right saddle shape and width...
+GTW 3Bagger Lots of resources though, yeah? It's amazing how much of the deep sea is unexplored. And that which is explored is often kept private by companies.
+Andrew Lavallie Nah, it's my GMC Denali 'road bike' which is more of a hybrid bike with road geometry. More on it in this video here ua-cam.com/video/yXUw5J9mWIw/v-deo.html
Nice. I really find these videos therapeutic.

I love watching when I do my stationary bike workouts!! thanks

It's my first real bike, but there aren't any bike lanes here, like none :/ :/
Tarzan Sean Thank you, Tarzan Sean, comments always appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the video! Cool to hear you got a bike. Start slow and see if there are any trails or quiet streets around your town then progress to busier roads as you feel comfortable. You'll get there. ;)
BikeBlogger what also inspired me to do this,
are the ALTA bike models!!! have you seen them?
Tarzan Sean Can't say I have, but the spoke pattern is pretty cool. All singlespeeds look awesome IMO. :)
no the models in the ads, their legs ! do you think you could get legs like that cycling?
I rode that section of the Katy trail just a few months ago.
@ Greeling Avarice My longest ride on film is probably my other Katy Trail video linked in the video description above.
Are you from missouri? I'd love to meet up for a ride together sometime if you are!

Miscalculation not 15 mph - 12.5 mph.
Awesome! That was great to watch.

you are entertaining. keep up the good work
That's almost as long as my commute, 31 miles round trip. But I'm on roads (mostly rural 2-lane) and WAYYY more hills.

Katy trail miles are tough miles because you never get a lot of momentum on that chat gravel.

i ride my bmx on the Los Angeles bike path average speed about 2.5 m.p.h. finish line is firestone.
If you are looking for a great light set that is USB, check out Cygolite.
hey man i have that same bike!! how did you get the stickers off?

BikeBlogger thanks bro. love the videos. I have a 50 mile cancer fund raising ride coming up and these videos motivate my training!
I can't ride very far because my butt hurts too much! How/what is the remedy?

looks very flat.. I'm from Scotland. not so flat. makes cycling quite hard
A bike path that's nice, very lucky.where I live they are putting in a lot of chip n seal roads.they don't like cyclist.
I want to know tire width.
I live in a van down by the river
Right on.
Dude, no land under the North Pole to claim.
