Can I just say, I've been subscribed to you for a while now (now that I think about it, probably almost 3 years ?!?!) and it's been so amazing seeing your account grow and your SFX improve!! I feel like a proud mum, even if I'm younger than you (': keep up the good work !
By far the BEST tattoo cover demo I've ever seen!!! Thank you!
THIS IS SO HELPFUL WTF THANK YOU. for shows and film theres so many directors who hire actors with tattoos they dont want to show. ahhhhh thank you thank you thank you
Wow! You did a fantastic job matching his skin tone! It really comes down to the final step before the illusion is convincing.
Also, I was wondering, what exactly is PAX paint? I thought it was partially acrylic based since it can be applied to badcaps? So is there any harm to using it on the skin?
I think this is your most helpful matching skin tones video so far! I'm totally going to try this at home!
Love the extra touch with the freckles!
That's a cool tattoo by the way!
Thanks Witte! Yeah it's a Dick Smith recipe that uses Prosaide as a base, with acrylic paints - usually Liquidtex as they don't use any dangerous pigments but hues instead, and a matte medium. Whenever I've made my own it's come out patchy and not had much coverage, flaked off the skin, and you have to put research into the acrylic paints you're using to make sure they're skin safe, 'non toxic' is not enough.
So I much prefer using pre made pax's, the MelPax is really nice cause it's quite creamy and has great coverage and didn't flake off like my home made one did. Also you know it's safe for skin, don't have to do a lot of research into paint ingredients :)
Huh! I had no idea that there were skin safe acrylic paints! I agree. Totally not worth the risk. It's much easier to get pre made. Thanks for the info!! :D

Very nice tattoo cover up tutorial!
Queen of color matching
dude
your channel has inspired me to start doing fx makeup
Amazing job, I recognize that tattoo, Alistair 😊
This is AMAZING.
Wow this is amazing! I have to cover my tattoo for work, and I work at a pool. Is this safe to apply to tattoos on a somewhat regular basis? And how does it come off?
This was so cool :3
:D Discworld tattoo! awesome!
Hi! This was very useful! I was planning on buying Dermacolor until I saw this video. So with Pax paint I wont need to use a powder, setting spray or anything else to set it and make it waterproof, right?
can you do a video on brow blocking?? I'm studying makeup design and production at the moment and i'm finding brow blocking rather difficult (to make look good anyway)
Yay the Death of Rats...Terry Pratchett is my all time favourite author. Still haven't read The Shepherds Crown, saving it.
Death of Rats has always been my favourite character, which is why I got him tattoo'd to me :P
I didn't give Pratchett permission to die. How could he :(
I just found that Miscellar water works the best and even on a 3 days old thick crusty layer..lol, to remove the Melpax paint and it leaves the skin nice and hydrated!
Hey! So I bought the melPax paints. they cover my tattoo AMAZINGLY, but I have one on the crook of my elbow, when I bend my arm, the paint looks all scaly and wrinkled up. Is there any way to avoid this? I literally only applied the paint, but maybe I used too many layers, and didnt' use the mattifying cream. Would this help? Or maybe applying it with an airbrush? I need it to look realistic!
this is fantastic! I thought his tattoo didn't have the reaper at first!
I have a sleeve tattoo but I would like to cover it for 18th century reenacting events. How does this fare during hot, sweaty situations? Since my sleeve goes all the way up my arm I’d be worried something like this would transfer to the cuffs (usually just past elbow length).
I have issues with my brush taking off what I already applied. Do you have any tips for preventing this? I do let the first layer dry before I add more layers but still have problems with it dragging the color.
Will hairspray seal it if its an inner arm tattoo? It rubs off all the time
discworld tattoo ❤ nice cover-up too
Glad you like it :)
freakmo how do u make a Life cast do u use Ultracal ??
your videos make me want to buy all of the stuff you use but then I realise I'm broke as hell xD anyway as always amazing video

Can we go to the pool without it washing off?
Dude, it's a tattoo of the Death of Rats! SQUEAK. 😍
Death of Rats has always been my favourite character, which is why I got him tattoo'd to me :P
moxiemason Pratchett has some of the most amazing characters, and Rat Death is right up there with the best of them. I'm also pretty fond of Binky... 😍
Lay
freakmo i need your making a silicone mask

Do criminal record next!

can you simplify the optimal way for us to hide the tatoo? thank you

It's from an Australia store, Scotty's Liquid Shine Eliminator scottysmakeup.com.au/products/bk11lp
Aaaaaand if you don't have all that professional makeup, how do you cover it up for work with simple things?
Thisnamestillsucks you look for a different tutorial on UA-cam lol. This is an sfx makeup channel so obviously this was not meant for everyday use by normal people. She is just showing how it is professionally done for film, television, etc. No need to be snippy.
Kayla Williams I wasn't being "snippy". If she knows how to cover up a tattoo professionally, I'm pretty sure she has a basic idea of how to do it with regular makeup which would be useful to people who don't have a lot of money for products like she's using. I believe you're the one who's being "snippy".
She did show you how to do it in very basic terms though. The general principle is the same color correct with something with an orange undertone if working with black/blue ink,and cover it in a skin tone shade that matches you. You can use whatever you want(liquid/cream/powder foundation or concealer, liquid/cream color corrector, eye shadows, liquid lipsticks). Not that hard to figure out substitutes by yourself.
This is an sfx channel, of course she is going to show you a more professional way of doing it. That's the whole point.
blargh blou I've seen many SFX channels say, "well if you can't afford to do this project, you could use to do it!"
At the end 4:38 there's Kryolan Dermacolor used at the bottom which is a concealer regularly used for tattoo coverup, but it's still kinda expensive, you can get a mini palette of 16 colours for $29 www.frendsbeauty.com/dermacolor-camouflage-mini-palette-d1.html. They're quite pigmented so you can cover it up in a few layers and set with powder and setting spray, but they can transfer a little and don't hold up as well or as long as the pax or alcohol paints :)
I'm not sure about which concealers are heavily pigmented for this at a drugstore price, I think there's quite a few other tutes on youtube that might be helpful. I have the dermacolor 16 colour palette in my regular beauty kit as my main concealer, it works really well on most skin types and covers a lot, so I've not investigated many other options after finding that.
doesn't Dermablend already make a good tattoo cover?
That's what I used at the end as a creme concealer, I've found it transfers and doesn't look as realistic.
I don't know if you are still reading these but here goes. I found one of your videos on another chanal with no credit to you. I did not report this video because I was unsure if you had given permission to them to use your video or not. The video I'm referring to is a how to use liquid latex tutorial you uploaded about a year ago. the other chanal seems to have uploaded your video shortly after you did. the chanal I am referring to is called Mould Crafts and the video in question is called "How to use Liquid Latex to make Halloween Scars" and is an exact copy of your " How to Use Liquid Latex" vid. I hope you see this and that I am mistaken in believing this to be blatant plagiarism.
Does it work for scars ? 😊
You know what I've actually never tried! If they're not too raised or textured I'd imagine so, otherwise the texture might come through.
I wonder if putting latex or something over the scar would help with blending it into the skin (if it's too raised)
I will investigate! Are yours textured/raised?
looks awesome but since there's the black outline of the rest of the tattoo wouldn't this be more obvious if you were to try cover an entire tattoo?
Is that a disc world tattoo??
IT SUUUURE IS!
My pet rat is called Allistor and he came to me when you said it haha.
Lol XD that tattoo i love it mouse death from death takes a vacation by Terry Prattchet
wow but *how*....
is there an easy way to cover tattoos up for work and stuff for people who don't know how to do all this stuff? a way that doesn't involve paying 7 million dollars for kat von D's coverup?
LeCarey Mitchell She didn't even use any Kat Von D in this video...but yes, there are. All you have to do is a simple UA-cam search for "how to cover tattoos". Pretty easy.
Kaeti Ingram 1: I know she didn't use kat von d. 2: I have searched other methods, but, what I am requesting is a method from HER because I respect her talent, skill and like what she does. she mat have another tip or trick that isn't already exposed via other youtube sources. 3: not sure whether you intended your response to be incredibly rude but it was.
LeCarey Mitchell I know I'm not Kiana but the Pax Paint is made up of Pros-Aide and Acyclic Paint which is quite quite affordable and easily applied as shown. The veining and undertone colours are optional so just the basic cover up should be quite easy :) sorry if this isn't helpful
I also forgot to mention you can make your own Pax Paints which is fairly cheaper than buying it ready made.

How long it last ? Is there no method to cover up like this forever, something which does not come off?
*_this is perfect for a job interview for that weird goth kid_*
the first time I got to be first
I don't have any tattoos.... Came for the Terry Pratchett tattoo...
Glad my tattoo drew you here! :P
