yes it’s better to filter…yes both are same river sand is used for construction….but in some parts river sand is banned so here in Bangalore we don’t get river sand for construction so here it’s grey sand
your already using vermiculite which is very highly nutritious ...zz is currently dormant ...neem khali is more of a fertilizer than insecticides ...it will create mold in the soil..remember all the fungicide effect insecticide effect is squeezed out while making oil ..what left back is just compost kinda material which is very nutritious excess will turn out bad

It also destroys the habitat of aquatic animals and micro-organisms besides affecting groundwater recharge.

Construction sites are not legally accessible for me in my territory and the rivers here, well, we only have one 100s of miles away. Plus I cannot find course sand at my local rock quarry and buying it at the hardware store/garden store or ordering it on line is very pricy. Sigh, guess I'll just have to pay the pricy price. if you want you can add three teaspoon ..not tablespoon ..but three teaspoon of vermicompost to one pot that's ok not more than that and don't use any other fertilizer at all for at least a year
Nice... I noticed that small granules of dried red garden soil in Mumbai tends to break up and gets clayed up in the potting mix (I tried it). This then holds a lot of water for too long before it's dry, especially in monsoon. However, good thing is that I managed to get a few kilos of mountain soil. In what proportions do I mix sand and mountain soil. Is it necessary to add clayey garden soil? I'll be using 3-4 inch plastic pots kept in my east-facing window grill.
oh ok...so the thing is try using 10 per cent garden soil...the reason is that sand doesn't have anything in it like nutrients or water-retaining properties it's just there to make the mix lose Porous and well-draining that's it...same for mountain soil but mountain soil may contain some nutrients ok do one thing use 60-70 percent mountain soil rest sand and do a test and see...the reason why I use garden soil one for natural nutrients secondly Bangalore is very dry but Mumbai isn't so let's try maybe one pot go without garden soil and see how it works first...def the succulent won't die...but let's see what happens if you feel the succulent is getting dehydrated then add some garden soil on top very little

yes it forms a very compact composition very difficult to roots to grow ...i have been researching about how to break down clay ..its a very slow process but organic ...that is introducing compost ...the liquid that comes out of the compost if been used over a long period of time ...it conditions the soil and the clay breaks down making the soil breathable and fertile ...over time the clay will be lose and you will have a very crumbly soil ...i experienced this with my soil in foliage plants i have been using compost tea from long time and i noticed the red soil that had alot of clay composition while re-potting i noticed the soil was more grainy and didn't stick together like before

yes it’s better to change …do it once but after that don’t change again.. yes 10 days is not an issue but the water clogging is an issue that can lead to problems so it’s better to change to gritty soil

just read in the comments that its just the construction sand. As per my experience the construction sand is in grey colour and its quite fine , it does not have the small stones in it as you showing in the video. Please guide.

I have crick or tiny stream sand on a very hilly timber farm I didn't know to separate the fine sand thank you!!.

Plus our farm land has sand but clay & mix so makes sense as it compacts..hard to dig farther than 8 inches down

You can absolutely grow succulents in fine sand. Compost belongs on the surface.
