It's Aaaah- Vee. =D I love what they did to this to switch it up. It's originally from their performance on the Sing Off. They blew the judges and audience away with that low end bass drop. They changed the beat to reggae.

Aw-vee. Actually, Avriel, but we almost don't need to mention that. If you go far enough back into Greek, then it's actually Auriel, as if he is named for one of the Angels. That would not really surprise me, either. :)

This was the song that introduced me to Home Free. Been a Home Fry ever since. You should see their funny sides, like with the Butts Remix, or their version of All About that Bass.

I love that patented bass slide out, that Avi does at the 6:44 mark. No one does that as well as he does.

the reggae beat is such a trip on this, as it's SOOO unexpected. They totally make it their own, and that G1 that Tim hits at the end....is jaw dropping...and he holds it here for 13 seconds, I've seen them twice in concert and each time he held it longer

Have you heard pentatonix, dance of the sugar plum fairy? Got some really high notes from Mitch, and some shocking bass notes from Avi

Home Free does occasionally wander off the Country music reservation. In Boyz to Men's "End of the Road" a Country twang is still somewhat in evidence. But try Helplessly Hoping, Auld Lang Syne and Mayday for a walk on another side altogether. Each of these three is a vocal and harmonic masteriece.

I think you would like Home Free singing "God bless the USA" with the original writer, Lee Greenwood, of that song, and US Navy singers. They sing this song at every concert, and the audience always stands, like it was the National Anthem. There is even a behind the scenes of the making the video.

They perfectly ride the line between remaining true to the song and being true to their specific sound as a group. :)

Watch the "sing off" episode where they sing Ring of Fire live.....Avi is a friend of the group, and Tim helped Avi with his really low notes.

Welcome to Home Free. They do all genres of music. They do pop, R & B, religious and country. Lots to explore. They just did a cover of another Johnny Cash song Folsom Prison Blues where Tim goes super low. Keep reacting and enjoying the spice!

There are live recordings of Home Free doing this song during a concert, and the newest version with Chance is pretty d**n good

Hey Scarlet 👋! I love what you have to say. If you wanna hear even deeper, Tim Foust (Home Free’s bass) does an amazing cover with Peter Hollens, Misty Mountains. Look out for the camera shaking at the end 😱😱

They modernize a song without changing it to the point where you hardly recognize it anymore. You still know it's the same song that the title says it is. They've done that to quite a few. Take Me Home Country Roads, Thank God I'm a Country Boy, Fulsom Prison Blues... Too many to remember right now. LOL Thanks! ^_^

Yes. Avi, the Pentatonix guy make the note C2 of the piano. But, in the original Pentatonix song called "Love Again", Avi does A1 of the piano. It's really powerful.

Avi Kaplan. Ahh-vee, like ahh-choo. Original bass for Pentatonix. Basso profundo delight of millions, and identical twin brother of Tim Foust. Ah, ok, I may have been lying on that last statement. ua-cam.com/video/qWvY88ihwBg/v-deo.html

That part you commented on certainly isn't the lowest Avi goes... but it might be one of the biggest jumps that he (or anybody) does. That's what a 3 octave drop or something? And he makes it seem easy.

You mentioned covers that are completely different being hit or miss. I'm curious what you would think of Postmodern Jukebox. They cover modern songs in retro styles, like Radiohead's "Creep" in a 40s nightclub style, or Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass " in the style of the Andrews Sisters (like "Boogey Woogey Bugle Boy).

    • @ScarletKnight

Ah I am so sad, I recorded my reaction to their Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy but it was blocked on youtube :( It will be on my Patreon though. I will keep listening to their music though because I am a pentaholic.
My fundraising has not been going great so far because the beginning of the month I failed to really push it and I have been slammed with school but I recorded a few videos yesterday and they will be posted through the week until I am back on a normal schedule again that mention my fundraiser. I was able to raise $12.70 last night on my twitch stream so its a start and hopefully I can raise more throughout the month. I will also donate something at the end of the month as well.

yeah it kinda does. I am also just now exploring them. This is the 3rd song I have heard from them so I am just getting familiar with them. I didn't even know country a capella was a thing. At least they are accomplishing their genre's sound.

Some covers shouldn't be done. This one for me had it's moments. Boop is the ending lol. Not the beginning. Thats the o.c.d. in ya. Bop is the beginning. I peeped it before you said it. As far as the song. Sounded like a cheesy Baptist barber shop quartet. Not for my Playlist for sure. But I know everyone has music they prefer. As far as the group. They aren't bad at all. But hey to each their own.
