Thank you for the props. Having lived this era, worked in radio/communications in this era, the back seat stories and tales I could tell you. I like your large sample size of the blends. Some not my bale, but I recall having to play them. You read that right. Its the obscure, B sides that turn out better than the highlighted single, is what I researched. I can furnish you with nuggets, two inches of dust, tunes that even the V loggers here and now, do not have. It was a glorious time. Please continue this work. People like myself won't be around to give input much longer. And if people like you fail to keep this era alive and well, then when we go, the music follows. Don McLean may have been onto something. Always my support to people like you

St Peppers came out in 1967 and that changed everything. I was 7 in 1967 and my big sister took me to the record store and I bought my 1st 45 it was all you need is love and Baby you're a rich man.. Hendrix, Stones and the Doors were all amazing..The Beach boys had released Pet sounds and almost disbanded when Sg Peppers came out..lol The worst song of 67 is a million times better than any music in the last 15 years..ha ha

I can only agree with half of the songs offered, there were so many other great bands in the years from 1964 to 1970, e.g. the Animals, Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Tich, the Move, the Moody Blues, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, just to name a few, and the other bands like the Stones, Beatles, Doors, Who, Mamas and Papas e.g. had more hits in 1967 as mentioned here.

The sixties in general, and this year in particular, provided an amazing "explosion" and selection of different creative sounds and songs! 2023 and you have to feel sorry for the current modern wannabe pop stars, because whatever music they attempt to create nowadays, has already been done before, it is what it is! It's tough, or just a lot harder, to be truly original anymore!

I was 14 years old in 67, 67 was the last good year I had as a boy, next year my older brother crashed his car and he died in a nursing home, in 69 my father was killed in a car crash. Our family was poor before my dad died but after he died my mother and I were homeless for awhile, we had to live with my older sister and her family for a couple of years, but there are many people that had much harder lives than I did, so I'm not sorry for myself. Yes 67 was a great year for music, I guess.

A big year for some of my favorite groups, like The Buckinghams. Three songs in the count. Tremeloes had a couple, so did The Seekers and The Hollies, as did The Doors; even that band from Liverpool had a few in the mix. We even had the Pre-Fab 4! R&B was cookin', Motown was at its best, and bubblegum was finding its legs. And it was fun to see Petula, Frank and Nancy, and Tom Jones and Engelbert. We even saw that flash-in-the-pan Rolling Stone group. Wonder what ever happened to them!

I don't care how many letters they sent...the morning came and the morning went...you ain't goin nowhere.
can you elaborate on living each day as though it's your last..? seems like it could go both ways.....you could be really reckless and do crazy things because there's no tomorrow.... or maybe more positive and make up for everything you neglected ,,honestly, I don't think I could do it....

Amazed the 3 Australian songs, Easybeats Friday on my mind and 2 songs by the seekers made the top 100. Four if you count the Bee Gees who came to Australia as kids and went back to England as successful artists. In 1967 the Seekers performed an after noon concert in a park in Melbourne 200,00 people turned up

In the sixties my father raced sports cars and we were always on the road days and nights. The AM radio was almost always on and I knew every song on the top forty. Even at the races, in the breaks between practice and races the songs were playing on the track loudspeakers.

Such great memories of when I was 15. There were a small number songs that I had never heard but that doesn't surprise me. In the days before radio stations in Australia al syndicated together quite often there were songs that were popular in the southern states that didn't get air play here in Brisbane, so it isn't surprising that while most of the songs got air time here, there were some that never made it over the border or from overseas.

I wonder if this was a British compilation. There was a song by Lulu I hadn't heard, and she was always more successful in the UK than in the US. And there was a succession of female artists, new to me, that I'll have to investigate.

All the VJ's calling for obscure, old, songs they never heard of, pass this link around to all you can. And 1968 right on the menu beside it. Memories, Billboard and the Top 100 mags, the "bubble gum" still sticking to the bottom of my shoes. When I had a full head of hair and it wasn't white or grey.
