@@davidferrara1105 I'm jealous. What an experience that must have been. We don't have anyone like these men today. They played for the love of it. You can see it on their faces when they perform. Yes, they made careers at it and had to be businessmen, and that's fine, that's part of the job. But today it seems like people put the career first and the playing second. And the product isn't the same.
@@andybaldman So true, their love for the music was primary, and it showed. All of these men are legends and I consider myself lucky to be able to listen to them now.
I was very fortunate to work with both Oscar and Joe, when I was Norman Granz's Pablo label manger in the UK during the '70s. A phenomenal experience. I had to attend all of these TV shows, and had a ball.
The conversation they have over the changes at the end before the last head was one of the best moments in jazz. The way they responded to each other just made me cry. God damn.
@@BrunoNeureiter Not necessarily like that, Peterson repeats just a few notes IMPROVISED by Joe Pass and then goes on his. What does guarantee a line is not imporvised usually is two (or more) instruments playing in unison; i mean, an arrangement, obviously
Peterson & Pass were impossibilities from the first time I heard them. But Pedersen & Drew were the foundation of the building. I think the 4 of them together is a privilege to all who get to hear them.
I, my young daughter, and my wife, were at the Royal Festival Hall, London, UK for this concert. It was the second time that we had seen the Oscar Peterson trio, 'live' and, believe me when I say, "the pleasure was ours. In his absence, and with the most respect. I always reffered to him as. That sounds like a great memory, !!and hey, do you mind if I ask when that was? I was never fortunate to get to see either one of these guys perform. 🎶🐦

I saw beautifully talented people at the Royal Festival Hall in London. One thing that I remember, is when OP played a run on his piano and Joe pass, sticking his tongue Out, repeated it on his guitar. Brilliant professionals. A lovely evening out, amongst some of the finest musicians to have ever lived.
Never ever will there ever be the likes of O P and his command of the 88's. Rhythm worked their tails off on this one. And what can be said about the guitar player -FANTASTIC, and thanks for the post
*Do people understand how much talent is on this stage?? These men are mythical now. But they used to be real people. It blows the mind.*
Thankfully Aunty Beeb knew.
@@TheSpikehere True. Very true.
i saw Joe in 1991 solo..he was god

These guys seem pretty comfortable on their instruments.
Lol
Best comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah I think they’re alright
Ha!
They do each seem to be familiar yes. They’ve probably picked them up at least once in the last couple of weeks. I’d say four months maximum.

Oh no, you "had to"! What a shame! That must've been dreadful!
Maan, that's so great! I'm happy for you!
Memories to cherish! 😄
Thought this didn’t exist, thought 2 of the greatest jazzists of all times would play together. Now I know how heaven feels like
I like the smile on Joe Pass s face when Oscar Peterson takes over the line from him. Beautiful
That smile is called Meier Baba speaks
Joe knows he's a genius, but Oscar is a god.
i cant even do the leg thing xD
Lol! Greatest comment ever!
I might have the face thing
LOL
Seriously guys, just try it, its frekin impossible!
You guys are so hilarious , I enjoyed you all more than the music . God Bless You all
Jazz at its best! Joe Pass sounds incredible as does Oscar and the band
The conversation they have over the changes at the end before the last head was one of the best moments in jazz. The way they responded to each other just made me cry. God damn.
Absolutely incredible when oscar peterson repeats joe pass' line at 3:13...
You can see Mr. Pass smile right there too
Also the way he picks up Mr. Pass’ line at 1:44
@ImNotGanondorf other way around
@ImNotGanondorf if they repeat something, it means it's not improvised.

Doesn't get any better than this...
No. No, it doesn't. Ever!
Mason Ashe agree 100%
Play it at 1.25x speed lol
How could it? Genius!
You’re all right. It actually made me forget to breathe! I keep coming back to this one 😊🎶
Do people realize that this is so rare,? Who care's in 2023? We do!
NHØP should have also been in the title. He was the Jaco of the upright
With all due respect to NHOP, I'd say Scott LaFaro was the Jaco of the upright
@@SaltosAxe ever heard miroslav vitous?
Did anyone ever hear of Jimmy Blanton , Oscar Pettiford or Dave Holland?
Oh my, so many great people to listen to and so little time to live :/
I guess i need some extra centuries!
With all due respect to everyone, why do we need a 'Jaco of the upright?' This is straight ahead jazz.
turn off the internet, we can all go home now.
this is just incredible...
Amazing!
Joe Pass must have subscribed to Guitar Wisdom

Omg , just noticed 4 of them are gone , but their music and the Legacy goes on forever .
After watching this, I don't think I can be " just friends" with Oscar and Joe. They're out of my league.
same.
Absolutely unbelievable, how incredible would it be to have been in the audience that night
I think so too👍.
Oscar a Canadian and Joe Pass American showing how Jazz knows no borders.
