Not quite a sample. Dolby was credited as writer and producer on the Whodini record, which preceded his own solo work (if recalled correctly), and the music was the theme to Magic's radio show here in the NY area before the record (again, if I remember correctly). Mind was blown by his mention of Mr. Magic, here, when I saw this on a VHS release back in the eighties. Made me dig out the record (Mr. Magic's Rap Attack 45RPM).
A good reminder of what a great voice Thomas has..
Brilliant voice and an incredible man
this song is so underrated
That is THE best Bass break solo I have ever heard.......
RIP Matthew Seligman. We lost him from COVID-related complications a few months back.
@@robdisner Sad news indeed. I loved his bass sound ..from "Living in Europe" to "Radio Silence" king of the "Ghost Note".
Matthew Seligman R.I.P.
@@profpiehead7559 also heard on Thompson Twins "In the Name of Love"
Nasty
Re-release this Thomas - has much relevance in these current times? Oh, and love that Jupiter 8.....God rest its soul.
Loved whodinis magics wand !
Whodini used this as a backing track and the song was huge…….bass is sick!
That's "Magic's Wand" by Whodini released at around 1982, isn't it?
@@metternihi0146 this is double wow, yes you are correct but Dolby produced their album, I didn’t know that either until just this min.
I love you Mr. Thomas. Thanks for helping through asleep nights of study
Love that he shouted out Mr Magic!! The Memories!! I wonder what drum machine and effect he used on the intro to Mr Magic's wand by Whodini
man I love you tube......once again, the awesome Thomas Dolby

@@GeorgeIsaacsZzz I did not know that. This is a classic beat
