  • La Crosse is easily one of the most beautiful places to enjoy a Wisconsin summer. Its climate and geography make it the perfect place to be outside. If you’re looking to explore all of the tributaries and backwaters, then you must experience the Onalaska Canoe Trail. Looking for a historic Mississippi experience? Book a cruise on the La Crosse Queen, which has been a favorite since 1976.

For two-wheeled land lovers, the cooling Region is the ultimate biker’s dream. The 24 miles of scenic pathways on The Great River State Trail are perfect for families and bikers of all ages and abilities. La Crosse’s bicycle-friendly culture makes it the perfect place to get outside and enjoy the many trails with family and friends. La Crosse has some older mountain bike trails in Upper Hixon along with 6 newly added miles of family-friendly trails called the Gateway Trails on Grandad Bluff. Outdoor Recreation Alliance maintains these trails so that they can be enjoyed by many.
It wouldn’t be summer without fairs and festivals. Riverfest, held the week of July 4th, at Riverside Park is filled with family-friendly entertainment, food, fun, and fireworks! Looking for a camping and music experience? Country Boom in West Salem is one of the best country music festivals in the Midwest. Also in West Salem, the La Crosse Fairgrounds is a racetrack that hosts an annual interstate fair along with drag racing and NASCAR stock racing from May - October. Looking for an authentic, homegrown, small-town kind of summer festival? If so, then Kornfest in Holmen is the place for you! This festival celebrates the heritage of the local community in Holmen through parades, kiddie rides, beer, and music.
