The original's also less break prone. I've seen a ton of people have broken clips straight out of the box, not even messed with and already broken with Zap Astro, and they didn't fix the hollow rocket boosters, for something people are spending a lot on you'd think Hasbro would've done better.
I loved my Zap Astro Megazord! I love the size and look. So much fun. My #1 ideal Zord would be a 14" Zap Lightspeed rescue megazord, that zord is one of my all time favs in the show, and the toy is great (especially when paired with supetrain) but the small size of that zord always made me wish there was a big one! :)
You did help sell me on this Astro Megazord. I wasn't collecting the ZAP line, but seeing this and how much detail they put into it is making me want to at least collect my favorite zords.
It's certainly a very cool looking thing, and very shiny. If you like the size, then you'll really like this release. It's a good lookin' Megazord for sure. I wish I could have spent a little more time with it. I totally didn't get my own footage of the two cockpits 😕 We didn't have a chance to eat before the con, and this was towards the end, two more minutes and Mia was going to take a bite out of me! Looks like I didn't totally figure out the arm articulation, and I didn't have the sword, blaster, mini figures, or extra hands. I know more cool poses are possible that I didn't have a chance to get to.
That Shodo Super Megasilver, though...sweet mother of Obelisk, Osiris, and Ra...that dull gray is maddening. It's like Bandai Japan took a page from Takara's playbook; the MP18+ version of The Transformers Masterpiece Streak (aka Bluestreak) is slathered top to bottom in that exact shade of gray which replaced the actual silver of the original MP18 version. Like...it's SUPPOSED TO BE SILVER... Yeah, I don't see why Hasbro felt the need to alter the Astro Megazord transformation...especially considering they didn't alter the transformations of the ZAP Dinozords & Dragonzord. But between that and the QC issues I've heard about it, I ain't very hopeful for a Delta Megazord to go with it (or a Astro Delta Megazord combination).
Darn, wish I could have been there to help. I’m a Transformers fan too so I might have been able to look at things from that perspective. Only problem is the several thousand miles of ocean between us! Really fun video as always guys! Always brightens my day seeing new Bruno and Mia stuff 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Now, THAT, is a $200 toy. If ZAP goes in this direction, they'll be worth it. I will pick one up. So, impressed with this toy unlike the MMPR Megazord and, Dragonzord which were an $80 value toys, sold at $200.
Size wise, aren't ZAP zords meant to be 1/144 scale? If so, the Megaship did have to be that size.. the scale is why I picked up ZAP Dragonzord. Its the same scale as my Gundam & displays well with the..
It’s okay Bruno, I couldn’t afford the Astro megazord either ( still can’t but I’m ok with that plus I don’t have shelf space ) glad you had a fun time at ranger station, ( plus got some great costumes in the background of your video) ps next time you play around with the Astro megazord have Chris help you that’s probably why hasbro Bruno proofed it
Well, a little more of a problem when it's our job to make videos about these things, and we can't pay for the products people come to us to see reviews for. Like, if you own a grocery store but can't afford to stock the food, that's a bit of a problem... (which would be solved if a few more of your customers would come visit your store that they say they love and hope will remain open...)
I do wish people would stop trying to explain scale to a model railroader. 😕 I let everyone know what Hasbro was doing with scale when the ZAP Megazord was first announced. The Megazord stats are a little known fact that can be found online and some toy boxes. On TV they're suit actors who are all the same size. Nearly every Megazord is exactly the same size, with a few exceptions where they made an effort to show a drastic size difference (Serpentera, Pyramidas, Super Train, Delta Command, etc). As a toy, it's large. Maybe that's fine, but it's quite a size difference. Regardless of box stats it's hard to accept Astro Meg is really that much larger. There are things I like about that particular release at that size, but I also hope Hasbro thought ahead. If they're really sticking to 1:144 scale, well, Serpentera would be taller than me. There would be a number or enormous Zords, and adult collectors already have pretty full shelves these days.
@@MMPRtoys I figured it the original post was more for other people who viewed this video and weren’t aware it f that fact. I completely agree btw. I don’t like how big it is either. Would have been nice if it was the same size as the original toy and was much cheaper imo. But I’m also one who doesn’t care for the smaller ranger figures either. I just want a fun megazord I can mess around with.
I can see why it would be pretty cool, but given it seems to lack A LOT of it's weapons, I don't really think I would get it, I mean IT ALMOST DEFEATED BRUNO!!!!!!!!! HOW??!!!!!!!!!! so thank you for another great video, hope you guys are staying safe and healthy and, Good Night #MMPRtoys #teambruno #teambrumia
I moved at the end of June and was trying to put this thing back in the box, and let me tell you, this is way more impressive than what I went through, lol. I had to watch a few astro megazord unboxing videos to figure out how the hell to revert back to the megaship.
This is normally something I'm pretty good with... but this gave me some trouble. The side I started with really didn't seem like that part of the leg could twist. Eventually I realized the other side could, so they'd both have to, and then forced it. Then it went. I already knew people had issues with clips breaking so I was really trying to be careful.
Astro Megazord is a giant Rubik's cube, Bruno!!! Doing the Zord to ship transformation at the Convention drew a lot of fans and attention!!! Keep going, you should be stumping the toy, dude!!!
I always use instructions when transforming, i don't wanna break my stuff lol Hope ZAP does a Turbo Megazord and Mega Voyager. Legacy Ninja Megazord was pretty much perfect, so the only thing ZAP could do to make it better would be to add more articulation.
Cool video. Don’t feel too bad, I had trouble transforming some of the Dino fury zords. The pictures instructions don’t help much. Ranger station looks like a lot of fun. 😊
Haha, I’m actually all for larger size mecha, and apparently the larger size is because they’re going by the actual scale set by Super Sentai’s official stats/concepts, making Galaxy Mega bigger than Daizyujin. Officially according to RangerWiki, Galaxy Mega is 55m tall while Daizyujin is only 41.5m tall.
Yeah, I covered the scale pretty well in past videos. I'm a model railroader, I appreciate the scale... but really, on TV the Megazords are all the same size, usually. Sometimes they made certain Zords appear much bigger, but they were almost all guys in suits around the same height, so it's hard to see Megazord & Astro being so different in size. Yeah, you really have to find those stats things to even know that, you wouldn't get it from watching the show. I would rather they were closer in scale, but at the same time it's kinda cool at that size too. I don't know. Had the original been that big I don't think I'd be able to have it on my current display shelf. I think it would be too big.
Omg you are so lucky able to attend such awesome gathering.....I would die to be able to play with the ranger toys. Never have a change growing up huuubuu
Loved that Bruno, don't you just love the power ranger fans,a special breed, still can't believe you don't get any discount or freebies,it's criminal, who better to sell the goods than the man himself 👌🏼👏🏼
Can't afford the channel anymore. We spend more running it than it makes. So, now I'm doing compilations, reviewing at Target, conventions, etc. Doing my best to keep the channel alive, hoping more people will eventually show up. 😕 We've done about as much as we can w/o viewer support now.
For me I wish the ZAP line had a set size that way all the Megazords can be displayed together a look good standing shoulder to shoulder. Like the suits ripped from the show and shrunk down. Think Gokaiger Battle of 199 Heroes
If you haven't seen Ranger Station from last year, that's up both on this channel and the vlog channel. This event we got back from on Saturday night, Astro Megazord is the first video I finished editing from the event, more footage always coming.
I prefer the SMP version because it's not too big, and its fits really well with the Movie Monster Series and the Ultra Hero 500 series, especially with the both of them made by Bandai.
I don't think I'm ever going to transform mine when I get it out of the box, I think I'm just going to keep him in spaceship mode. What were they thinking with overly complicating the design like this? Also I absolutely love these at conventions looks, you're totally in your element when you've done this and the mmpr megazord Bruno :)
That wasn't an issue on this one. I'm not entirely sure what causes that on some copies but not others. Saying "handle carefully" doesn't even seem like good advice, I've had a few things snap on me when I was barely doing anything. Wish I had something better than "hope for the best." My hairdryer trick really will save so many figures, but I'm not sure if that'll help with the clips or not...
I never was able to get this megazord as a kid so I got one immediately once I saw this was available lol I will say the transformation is (obviously) a ton of help to understand how it can and can't move, but if I had to do it out of box like that blind...I would need a new one once I accidentally break it lol
ZAP tried to reinvent the wheel, and low and behold we ended up with Coke II, the Bandai Legacy stuff were works of art, all this ZAP and Soul of stuff seems needlessly over-engineered to say "see we're better because we're designed differently needlessly"
Oh man that was all well worth the chuckle. Yeah that hip is a little tricky because you don't expect it an it doesn't look incorrect even though it makes sense it has to turn. I love the large size. It's very impressive. Of course I own the Haslab Galactus. My sense of scale has been changed. Still the reasoning for making it so big I think is the wrong approach. Build quality - For me nothing's broken on it. My first ZAP megazord the Trex broke at the ab crunch. My replacement couldn't crunch and I didn't even bother trying to fix that. I think ZAP Astro Megazord is much better. On one hand all the exposed screws feels like a step back but also I like to be able to get into it if I need to. I think I might print out some caps for it. The clips though I feel should have been left in the past or replaced with more durable metal clips. Those parts all broke on me for the Bandai zord. I do agree that there are some things about the Minipla that I think could have been used for this big guy.
The size is a bit of a no win situation. If they stick with the scale, it has to be that huge going off the official heights. If they stick with the height of the Dino Megazord, they have to abandon sticking to 1:144 scale. For the Dino Megazord it worked out great since it was just about at 1:144 scale already. Most megazord's offical heights are actually closer to the Astro, so if they continue the line and keep the scale, they're all going to be these big, huge things and the Dino Megazord will be the small one in comparison.
It's a thing from Power Rangers in Space so I love it by default. Mine is in the mail so I'm excited to get my hands on it. Although some of that arm articulation looks concerning in its design.
wish i could of attended! looks fun, and thanks for the review on this one, i was on the fence about it for a while, I think ill pass unless its on a good sale
Ranger Station is in Oaks, PA. I thought it was a good con last year, but this year seemed like there was even more stuff. NY's not far from PA. If next year is as good as this one, I'd say it's worth a trip. Mia and I have had very full days in NY and got back to PA by 11pm. Totally doable in reverse. Much closer than PMC!
Wouldve loved to see a proper deep dive video but I can understand not buying a expensive figure that you arent completley sold on. I think the ZAP one looks great and miles better than other alternatives but I can understand the frustrations you dealt with. Not super user friendly. On a side note are those Shoto figures really small? For that price with all the accessories and the whole team I imagine they cant be Lightning Collection size
For many years I bought everything whether I wanted it or not. It was for the channel. People asked us for reviews, and we did 'em. Our viewership has gotten so low we can't afford to run the channel now. That's why lately I've been reviewing toys at cons, Target, and posting compilation videos of past work we've done. This unique, creative and insanely labor-intensive 16-year-old channel costs us many thousands of dollars to run, and we rely on viewers showing up to be able to keep up with the demand. That's why I've been giving so many calls to action lately, from watching videos for free to tipping to joining us on Patreon. We might not make it to the end of the year if things don't start to improve. We've got all of the same expenses as a normal toy reviewer, and then we run the channel as a film/animation studio, and the cost is... well... no longer sustainable, to say the least.😕
That could be a Patreon video. I've done so many videos already and they're really repelling viewers for some reason. 😕 Maybe some day we'll start a diorama channel that just focuses on that. People over here really aren't having it. I've been showing how we build our sets on both channels since about 2011/12, they're really not doing us any favors. But, if you want to request something on Patreon, I can post new things there.
@@MMPRtoys yes I've thought about joining to be honest been here for so long and if the viewers who are on patreon get that special vip request then that's awesome I'll join today and see how it goes Thank you Bruno and Mia keep up what your doing the rough times will end and you guys will prevail dont forget your the best power rangers toys channel probably best toy channel on UA-cam
That Astro Megazord looks awesome! I like the scale personally but I can see why others wouldn't. Would be nice to have lights and sounds though. I also agree that its a bit more complicated to get it into megaship mode or megazord mode then it should be. Regardless excellent videos as always! ~Charcoal_Ranger from Canada
Just got the 1998 Astro shuttle and megaship in pristine condition with working electronics from eBay today and I can say it’s definitely preferable over this new one.
missed the boat on the whole minipla astro/delta was really hoping to find them somewhere close to retail but all the prices i see are up there now. Like how this look but just cant get over the size
Nearly forgot about this coming out soon. Weird that hasbro is rumor to pause on pr filming and toys and it’s not because of the strike. It seems that hasbro transformers and joe movies aren’t performing as well, so they’re cutting back.
Unfortunately I did not get to go to ranger station this year due to work and other things going on. I wanted to go and I wanted to meet you guys. Hopefully we will get to see each other next year and I can meet you next year
I didn't ask for them, I'm not an instructions person. It was nice of them to let me film with their copy. I prefer to figure things out on my own, and if I already knew how to do it, this would have been a different video. Since I couldn't be home at my studio and make a more creative video, the focus here was how long it took several adult fans to figure out the legs. Otherwise it would have been a much shorter video. Workin' with what I got these days.
@@napoletanopictures1994 I'm not sure that helps unless you can go back in time and ask Marcus to bring the instructions over to the table. I appreciate the thought, but I'm a big-Bruno, I can ask for instructions on my own. It's certainly a thing I know how to do.
Hasbro has shown us anything at all is possible, and of course I've heard the rumors about them taking a break from the line. I really don't know what to expect. Sales can also determine future things. Sometimes things are planned but the first thing sold so poorly it resulted in the cancelling of future things, and sometimes things that were meant to be a one-time deal were so popular that many new things followed. I try to stick to what's here, and then return when new things are announced.
I’m not a fan of the legs either but I think they are like that so the legs can kick out in the front. I’d rather have it easy to transform like the original. I feel like I am inches away from it breaking. Feels like they prioritized it just looking cool as a statue
The legs do get easier to move over time. Also the zap line is going for 1/144 model scale which is why astro is so gigantic in comparison. If they continue the scale lots of megazords in the future will be this size or bigger
I know all about scale as a lifelong model railroader (plus Hasbro made a big deal about that and it says in the listing I've linked below). But still, it's weird seeing Astro so huge when the main Megazords are generally similar in size in the toy line, and on TV they're suit actors, so, regardless of mode, the Zords are generally all the same size on TV. It's only if you're able to find those stats that you see how big they should be. If that's the size of Astro Megazord, I imagine you'll be able to have Pyramidas double as a storage closet, should they get to him. I'd rather the Zords were a little smaller, especially if they're doing a lot of them. Helmets, weapons, large Zords, tons of figures, people will run out of room real fast. Having said that, I also think it looks good in that size, its a pretty impressive looking thing.
@@MMPRtoys I completely understand the preference in smaller Megazords especially when it comes to space for everything from helmets figures etc. I'm a collector myself and can totally appreciate that take as space is scarce. I do enjoy though Astro being big as he is do It gives off a nostalgia vibe of like getting it as a kid and how the Megazords felt so much bigger.. Also I'm a bit of a sucker for stuff in the 1/144 or 1/100 scale as I'm a avid Gunpla builder and Having a Megazord in those scales really appeals to me in that aspect.
Funny story that’s my Astro megazord that your reviewing at there booth to make a long story short I was at Fayetteville comic con this year and bought one from them and a part broke and they were kind enough to exchange it out for a new one.

Saying "handle carefully" doesn't even seem like good advice, I've had a few things snap on me when I was barely doing anything. Wish I had something better than "hope for the best." My hairdryer trick really will save so many figures, but I'm not sure if that'll help with the clips or not...
@@MMPRtoys mine just has stress marks on all of the tabs. Blowdryer trick helped until I transformed it then the stress marks came back
4:10 yo, is that Prawnhorn Gem?!
It is!
The legs were one of the hard parts about the ZAP Astro Megazord. That is why I just keep it in ship mode.
But overall you look like your having fun
I never was able to get this megazord as a kid so I got one immediately once I saw this was available lol I will say the transformation is (obviously) a ton of help to understand how it can and can't move, but if I had to do it out of box like that blind...I would need a new one once I accidentally break it lol

The way the legs moved where so weird I activatly pinched my finger on it was well
ZAP tried to reinvent the wheel, and low and behold we ended up with Coke II, the Bandai Legacy stuff were works of art, all this ZAP and Soul of stuff seems needlessly over-engineered to say "see we're better because we're designed differently needlessly"
So many familiar faces in this video
astro megazord mind: I cant feel my legs..
Pretty good video 10/10
It's a thing from Power Rangers in Space so I love it by default.
Mine is in the mail so I'm excited to get my hands on it. Although some of that arm articulation looks concerning in its design.
Awesome video Bruno!
wish i could of attended! looks fun, and thanks for the review on this one, i was on the fence about it for a while, I think ill pass unless its on a good sale
Awesome video
If they're going to be at the same location next year or if they travel to NYC, I'm so gonna go!!! Definitely want that Astro Megazord.
@@MMPRtoys no way you both were here?!?!
I have a request can we see how u make backgrounds for the shelving I'm trying to do one myself
@@MMPRtoys yes I've thought about joining to be honest been here for so long and if the viewers who are on patreon get that special vip request then that's awesome I'll join today and see how it goes
Thank you Bruno and Mia keep up what your doing the rough times will end and you guys will prevail dont forget your the best power rangers toys channel probably best toy channel on UA-cam
I hope the delta megazord gets a release.
He is so shiny!
Thank you! I've been exfoliating! ...oh... you mean the Megazord...
@MMPRtoys No I meant you! :) #teambruno #skincare
I got it on tokullectibles and it's a great edition to my collection
Nice! 👍
This looks way better than their dinomegazord!
This one certainly feels fancier and heavier.
@@MMPRtoys hello bruno
missed the boat on the whole minipla astro/delta was really hoping to find them somewhere close to retail but all the prices i see are up there now. Like how this look but just cant get over the size
Looks like those particular minipla are getting a re-issue. I saw preorders for them over on Hobby Genki.
@@Banazama thats awesome thanks for the heads up
👏 Congratulations!
Nearly forgot about this coming out soon. Weird that hasbro is rumor to pause on pr filming and toys and it’s not because of the strike. It seems that hasbro transformers and joe movies aren’t performing as well, so they’re cutting back.
I like how they gave the mini black ranger a skirt
Unfortunately I did not get to go to ranger station this year due to work and other things going on. I wanted to go and I wanted to meet you guys. Hopefully we will get to see each other next year and I can meet you next year
3:20 He said It 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Perhaps they should’ve given you extractions first of how you play with it
I didn't ask for them, I'm not an instructions person.
@@MMPRtoys oh sorry just trying to help you, although it does look kind of big and bulky then the 1998 version
@@napoletanopictures1994 I'm not sure that helps unless you can go back in time and ask Marcus to bring the instructions over to the table. I appreciate the thought, but I'm a big-Bruno, I can ask for instructions on my own. It's certainly a thing I know how to do.
@@MMPRtoys Sometimes I wish I could have a Time Machine to go back in time to let him know that, Plus “big-Bruno” hahaha classic man
Do you think they’ll do the delta megazord to ?
Hasbro has shown us anything at all is possible, and of course I've heard the rumors about them taking a break from the line. I really don't know what to expect. Sales can also determine future things. Sometimes things are planned but the first thing sold so poorly it resulted in the cancelling of future things, and sometimes things that were meant to be a one-time deal were so popular that many new things followed. I try to stick to what's here, and then return when new things are announced.
Love this video Bruno.
so which you will you pick? old or zap?
6:24 wise words😏
