I was thinking the same thing. You should try out a drone. There are a few that will automatically follow you, but I think they're quite expensive.
But even if you just flew it up ahead of you then walked past it. You wouldn't have to keep backtracking.

Being able to setup a tarp and get out of the rain while still being able to do your job is gold. There is no real explaining the joy and satisfaction being out in the wilderness/woods/outdoors and being under a tarp that sheds water away from you while you listen to the rain hitting the tarp. To be able to use the rain water off of the tarp for coffee is an added bonus. A camp chair or stool to sit on and keep your butt off of the wet cold ground, heaven.

That blind coffee will give ya a "Rock Hard Rooster"! Here's a tip for your wraps... first off, don't over fill it, but more importantly fold up the bottom similar to how you make the foot box in the Nemo Puffin Blanket, then wrap each side in. Seriously great work in making this video. Real immersive. Reminds me of an area I grew up in in northeastern Indiana. Used to love spending time walking through the woods even in weather like that. I no longer care for the cold weather, but I do actually enjoy even riding my motorcycle on wet days like that, as long as it's warm. Most guys won't even get on their bikes in the rain! I sent you an email earlier. Peace and love.

Luke - thank you so much for taking us along on your trips. I SO wish I could do this but alas - I got old and now have health issues. It makes me think that you are doing what I would have done if I had my young life to do over. Good - Healthy - Fun. I have to tell ya tho - I would STILL watch if you just held the camera -- You don't need to put camera down - walk back - walk past - walk back - get camera - repeat as needed. So for every trip where WE walk 10 miles - you walk 20... I guess I should thank you tho because it does cause for some cool videos -- Again - thank you for taking us along...

Good show, Luke! I always marvel at the amount of gear you carry (even when we had the horses, we wouldn’t have considered a table or chair), but I remind myself you are testing gear, not making a long march. Some of those items look great for car camping.👍 You are in more open country than here in the densely forested Pacific Northwest with its heavy underbrush. But I enjoy your rain videos because I live in the land of cold rain. Carry on!

My AquaQuest 10'x10' Safari tarp has done everything I've asked of it & then some. I have no doubt it will outlast MEeee. A HOT meal out in the boonies when it's cold, wet, or windy beats anything I can be served at a restaurant.
I'm quite knowledgeable about the Stevens-Townsend-Murphy party that crossed the Sierras into California (all 52 members survived & reached California) 2 years B4 the ill-fated Donner Party & when I'm out camping & with the equipment I have I always think that IF anyone in the Donner Party had what I have their story ending would have been much different.

Hey Luke, greetings from another NC resident (Mooresville area). I lean toward being a bit of a gear enthusiast. I really enjoy your videos and being so close I would love to check out some of the places you frequent. It would be cool if you could provide map locations for some of your adventures that are open to the public. I would like to take my son on some weekend adventures, maybe shed some pounds in the process of making some lasting memories before he is too old to hang with his Pop. Much appreciated and again I really enjoy your videos. Blessings to you and the Mrs and thanks to Madison for her service! God Bless!!!

Love the continious pitter patter of rain in the background :) With similar weather around here i might actually go ahead and do a rainy overnighter tomorrow myself!

I wish i had just half of your motivation. I have to be honest, those conditions would be hell to me. Cold and wet, i shudder just thinking about it!!!

The exhaust on the Tundra sounds awesome! My 2011 FJ Cruiser has just under 80K on it also. We should be driving both vehicles for as long as we want to:)
