- In 1963 the early roots of The Yardbirds involved his dad's Blues records to give this very young band their unique Blues sound which Giorgio Gomelsky used to replace the Rolling Stones
RIP Top Topham
Rock in Peace -Top, you should join your mates in the R&R HOF.

So with Top another Yardbirds member left us shortly after Jeff 😔.
This guy is a good guy, i get to hear him play his guitar almost everyday in person now, he is very good
I credit Top with developing the whole "Rave Up" sound that the Yardbirds brought to British rock and roll. His dad's record collection which included Charlie "Yardbird" Parker, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley and a huge collection of post-war Jazz and Blues really shaped their sound.
The birdies always sounded better when doing rockin' blues or psychedelia, their pop stuff like "For Your Love" was ok to pay the bills, but their great music is deeper into their album cuts.

No regrets hey sanderson thank you for your raw blues....
RIP Top
I really felt for him with those last words. He would have gone a long way and probably instead of the holy trinity of Page, Beck and Clapton. It would have been the holy quadruplets 👍
I wonder though. If Mr. Topham had kept his place in The Yardbirds, then maybe Mr. Clapton would never have got in, nor Mssrs. Beck and Page. Instead of holy quads, it may have been a sacred solo…
@@Kowasi I doubt very much that Top would have stayed with the Yardbirds anyway - given the way their music evolved. If it wasn't strictly Chicago blues then he wouldn't have endured it for long.
Lives in Notting hill. Were my relitve lives...Same build....lol
the best YARDBIRDS GUITARIST
Too bad he couldn't stay because he being 16 years old, his parents wanted him to finish art school and thus grounded him from performing with rock bands until he was finished.
Looking back at his Yardbirds days, he recalled "I was only 15 years old then, three or four years younger than the rest, and there was no way my parents would let me go out five or six nights a week to play music, even though I was bringing home double what my father was earning. I was going on to Epsom Art School and my parents wanted me to take it seriously. Eric Clapton was the obvious person to replace me. Later on, I didn't regret leaving because they'd moved away from the blues music that I was interested in. Even if I'd stayed with them to become professional, I think I would have left later for the same reasons Eric left."

Parents got him to leave because they wanted him to continue his education. So Eric Clapton came in.
Looks like Roger Taylor.
Seemed to have a bit of a problem with Chris.
