Don't throw it out just because it needs a repair! This is great information.

There are two other videos so far I’ve done on this quilt. I’m not done yet. Maybe 2022 will be the year. Just search “Jeri b repairing a quilt Part 2 and Part 3”.

You never showed HOW to do it. That would have been great to see.

How did the restoration turn out? Is there another video?

I’m in the middle of recording a second video. I didn’t keep up with it as I ran into some frustration and problems but I’ve got it out again trying to work out the problems. I hope to put the update video up in a week or two as I’m still working on it. Thanks for asking!

I was given a quilt by a quilting friend who was also given the quilt by somebody today. It looks worse than yours. It is a queen size, all hand quilted. The batting looks the same as yours, the batting is so thin. So much of the top is damaged, the fabric is wore out. It really looks like it had been in a washing machine for 30 years or more, There are diamond shapes that are wore out in lines which I can replace, but the main white circles have sporadic wearing. The whites I have are much brighter than the original white. My boyfriend says that I should throw it out. But I have a strong moral value when it comes to handmade items, they should be restored. Especially after the amount of time and energy and maybe a lot of money, that it took an individual to make.

I still haven’t finished repairs to mine but a couple of months ago I put it up on a quilt ladder, mostly to remind me to work on it, and I enjoy being able to see it daily. You could maybe soak your white fabric in a weak tea or coffee to dye it to look old (start first with a small scrap) but I would just use the white fabric as is. I think quilts are charming when you can see they’ve been restored and repaired. Good luck to you.
