- Become a part of this camera (closes in August): igg.me/at/ffco...
Quick-and-dirty unboxing of the partially fan-funded Canon 800D that's going to play the role of main camera around here from now onwards. I was very positively surprised by the usability of this camera, compared to the rest of my arsenal.
Thanks go out to all that have contributed thus far (and any who choose to contribute in the future). The formal thank you perk will be delivered once the campaign has finished, in order to get everyone in on it.

Great! I'm glad you were able to get it so quickly. I look forward to seeing it in use.
I still use my Rebel T6s quite a bit, but the 800D has some real improvements, including the new Digic 7 processor.
im sorry but did u sniff the fucking camera
If you do not breathe in the smell of new gear, you are missing out.
FFcossag ehm idk bit weird
his telling the truth
yeah i was like wtf is wrong with this dude
4th viewer, I have never been so early! haha. I have a Canon EOS 700D DSLR + 18-135mm IS STM, and had the same feeling with the display, so I just flipped it and left it like that ever since I got it.
Yes, the lens is so quiet!
Never had a proper camera before this one, so I had nothing to compare it to, but it still amazes me that it is so quiet. The focus ring is like an encoder, you can spin it round and round all day. It has a very nice feel to it as well and glides sooo smoothly.
For the models after the 700D Canon decided to redesign the battery, so where the 550D, 600D, 650D and 700D had the LP-E8 battery that you could borrow from someone that has one of those older versions, if you found yourself in such a situation, you cannot with the newer models. The display seems to have some kind of glass over it (Corning Gorilla glass, perhaps?) which is what I wanted to know before buying the camera, but I could never find that info. I thought it was plastic, but it is glass, which was relief. :)
Yeah, I noticed the encoder thing with the lens after a while. I'm not really a fan of it since you can't achieve a true 1:1 ring-to-focus ratio. However, it does do a good job at sturdying up a cheapish lens since there's one less thing to be affected by shoddy external tolerances.
omg 3 years warrantyz!!!✌👌👌
I just bought one these a couple days ago and so far so good 👍🏼😍🔥
Oh my gooood, I need that camera!
this video helped me! keep it up! you are the best!
Alright, thank you.
Hahah everyone smell the gadgets if a new I love it.. gadgets smell good..

I have it last week yohoo I really like it.
SOUND RECORDING EQUIPMENTS PLEASE TELL ME...AWESOME QUALITY .
This was done with a modified BM800 microphone feeding into a Panasonic VX980 camcorder.
was that like an A.S.M.R????¿¿¿¿
hi
Looks like a nice camera, not too sure about the video framerate (user-selectable options perhaps?), but the picture quality from it seems pretty good... :)
What about the video framerate? It shoots 24, 25, 30, 50 or 60 FPS as desired. I have no idea what all my exposure settings, etc. were for the little test snippet in this video, though.
luckily you use PAL
When it comes to computers & streaming video, PAL, NTSC & SECAM aren't really a thing any more, used to be when encoding from analogue to digital (most of my vids on this channel were shot with a couple PAL Sony camcorders, one analogue, one MiniDV, so had an original resolution of 768x576, 'til youtube messed with it and turned it into NTSC-sized 640x480), these days it's about the framerate to match the local lighting, so for example, 50fps for 50Hz countries, 60fps for 60Hz, that's about it... :)
That makes some sense. Thankfully, light flicker will soon be a thing of the past.
I prefer 60 FPS, cause most LCD monitors work with 60 Hz and 50 FPS would lead to micro stutter.
Your graphics great
What ! no red 8k camera !!!!!!!!! With its 900 USD handle !
Well, I mean, if we can get enough people to send me money, I'll *totally* buy a RED 8K camera with a $900 handle. :^)
this channel is not linustechtips m8 hahahaha
make it happen
Its still a great Cam 😍💪🏻👍🏻
Pls suggest me which is good 800d or 200d mark ii for youtube vloging or instagram photography plssssss suggest?
The 800D is a better camera overall.
@@FFcossag lens for 800d it's offer 18-55mm is it ok?
@@FFcossag which lens should I buy for 800d?
Good review
Nice gear!
Its good..??
I also have one of those old horrible lenses on my EOS-20D, except for that it's fucked. My EOS-20D works fine with a newer lens off of a friend but only gives me Error99 whenever I try to use it on the 20D. Main part why it's broken is that I accidentally checked if earth gravity still works using that camera a couple of years ago and ever since that happened, the autofocus wasn't doing its job anymore - it switched over to "NOPE, Error99"-mode now though......
...and nothing of value was lost. ;)
FFcossag eh, kinda sorta? I still miss having a working DSLR for taking pictures though....just using my Sony Z3compact phone ever since cause that's the best working camera thing I have now. I'll probably get a new DSLR some day, but I wanna have one that can do 4K Video as well and those are expensive....
Oh, I definitely hear you on the niceness of having *a* DSLR of any description - nothing can beat full tactile manual controls. I just wouldn't shed any tears over that lens, is what I'm saying.
FFcossag Yep, although just getting a new lens for my ancient camera is kinda sorta more expensive than just getting a new camera with a new lens.... which is why I haven't bought one yet. Can't find a good enough excuse to go buy something really expensive right now though.
You can get those 18-55s for like $50 on Ebay though, lol. Better than nothing.
does the kitlens on canon 1200d fit on this?
Probably, although the EF-S 18-55 IS STM is easily worth getting.
Where it ismade?
some are made in japan and some in Taiwan....both identical models...i suspect most will want the japan made version even though canon assures they are identical!
Christopher Crosby Mine is made in Taiwan. Really bad build quality...
@@lichking5797 I bought one and discovered mine was a Taiwan build and mine has no difference in quality to a friends who has a Japanese one. As Canon stated they have identical Quality control standards and are built from same parts using same production techniques. I would suggest that if you have one with build quality issues you return it under warranty explaining what the issues are and if valid Canon will no doubt respond, after all they have their reputation at stake
Ahh, enjoy it! Makes me really miss my ancient Nikon D40. Perhaps I should get a DSLR again...
Thanks - and trust me when I say that I am enjoying it. I just did a video on it, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that the 800D cuts the camera mongering time in half when compared to my Panasonic HC-VX980 for setting up manual shots.
I dont know about the 18-55 but my 24-105 has no is in video mode
I believe that's up to the camera, and it's one of the reasons I got the 800D; it has some pretty brutal crop IS options on top of the optical IS, if you're shooting video.
ok, so the 800d is basically a rebel in the us. Great cameras, but my 2 year old 6d doesn't have IS in video mode. But it sounds like youve done your research as always.
I just checked as I was walking through the workshop, and the 800 definitely allows for both body and lens IS in video mode. I'm not that surprised that the 6D would be lacking in video features despite its higher price segment; it's based on a much older generation of technology.
yeah it more for photogs, being the lowest cost full frame and all. Nice purchase and I am looking forward to future vids!
Canon has better photo quality but for filming the Panasonic is better
From what I've seen thus far, that is not at all the case. The only thing the 800D lacks vs. my Panasonic HC-VX980, is 4K resolution. Performance seems to be quite similar in most other regards, with the 800D having a VASTLY superior UI. To answer your previous (deleted?) comment about why I didn't get a 70D, the 800D seems to be a bit more modern all-around. Newer sensor, newer processor, newer everything and more AF points.
Nice camera ff :-D, im sure you will have to explore all the settings before using it.
Get it just the way you like :-)
There is indeed a fair amount of things to play with.
This guy has the most amazing voice and accent . I want to marry him
Can you please mail me the old 1000d
Sorry, that camera has been repaired and repurposed.
Just 999,90 EUR? I guess I'll get one if it's really that great. :)
I'm not sure I'd describe it as "great", but it is considerably better than the rest of my cameras.
I mean price and performance seem pretty much decent. Noone really needs 4K video yet (says someone who rocks a Dell UP3216Q...), it's just nice to have. I love the sharpness on 1080p, it's like most 4K videos downscaled to 1080p which is amazing for a sensor that can only record in 1080p. Can you do a 60 FPS example video? Can it actually record 60FPS in full progressive scan or just interlace?
Well, technically I suppose it is 4K downscaled to 1080p, since the native res of the sensor is well above 4K. What matters most is probably sheer sensor area, though. And yes, it should do 60 FPS 1080p You kind of do expect that from such a modern camera. (although I'm not 100% sure if you can switch between 25/50 and 30/60).
No niver moind vat it iz gutt .
