Thank you for providing such a great source to learn, Sir. Btw, I have a question regarding the analysis results in VOSViewer. I ran an analysis of Co-authorship with the unit of Authors. For the purpose of capturing the whole picture of co-authorship, I selected the minimum number of documents of an author of one, and when the notification of showing the set of items, I chose No. This made me end up having the results of all clustered authors. Some are colored in grey while others are colored in other than grey. What I am still confused about is the difference between those who are colored in grey and those who are colored other than grey. I was wondering if you would be willing to explain. I would really appreciate it.

Dear Muchson, I will check the manual and try a similar analysis to investigate this situation. Sincerely,

Thanks a lot sir, Sir if put a csv file from scoups data base, for co-author analysis only one author with name, citation, documents, link strength table appears. Instead of two authors collaborative work. how we can resolve this?

Dear Naman Phutela, than kyou! Check in Scopus in the "export document settings" if the option "include references" in ("other information") is marked. I would try to include all information possible.

Dear Simran Karla, this analysis should work for Scopus as well. Could you provide more information on the error you have? Do you receive a message from Vosviewer? Are the options unabled (impossible to click on)? Best regards,

Hi Arifahahmad! Based on the concept of co-author, I guess single authors do not have co-authorship networks.

@@AcademiaInovar oh isee. but i don't know how to explain it in discussion.in my case, i have 1 author linked to a grouped authors (composed of 6 people).

Dear @arifahahmad6293 . In this case, the 6 authors compose a co-authorship network. You may find and focus on the specific author in the co-authorship network that Vosviewer would generate.

why nobody ever talks about which normalization method to use? There is basically no documentation about comparison etc. and they often lead to completely different networks! I think that without considering this aspect, VOSviewer is basically meaningless.

Dear Alessandro, the Vosivewer manual sheds some light on it, which cites other papers published by Van Eck (the creator of Vosviewer) detailing the normalization methods (Van Eck, Waltman, 2021) (link below).
      See pages 21-22:
"[9] Together these two techniques provide a unified framework for layout and clustering. We refer to Van Eck, Waltman, Dekker, and Van den Berg (2010), Waltman, Van Eck, and Noyons (2010), Waltman and Van Eck (2013), and Van Eck and Waltman (2014) for more information about these techniques."
For the record, most people apply the default option, Association strength:
"Association strength. If this option is selected, the association strength
method is used for normalizing the strength of the links between items.
Apart from a multiplicative constant, this method is identical to Eq. (6) in
Van Eck and Waltman (2009). This option is selected by default."
