I have 10 playthroughs and 2 honor modes completed, I just played a playthrough with 3 friends who knew nothing about the game and used that build. This build has so many answers I never felt like I had nothing I could do in a situation, we completed them, they had a lot of fun with the game, I had a lot of fun with this build. Thanks for the build sir!
I love doing that trick with an Abjuration Wizard carrying the Force Ward shield. Drop a nuke on yourself and your enemies, take zero damage while they all die.
Hearing main menu theme made me feel so adventurous once again. I'd like to delete my memories about this game (not about how to play it tho) just to enjoy it once again in its purest form
Oh yeah! 100% agree! Both about the music and being able to redo it! If you have not played it I think Larians other games are good too, but not sure how well they have aged.
I love your choices of Bows at the end. Everybody just goes with the Titanstring meta or the Dead Shot but you actually gave the Hellrider Longbow and Vicious Shortbow a shoutout 👍🏿
Thank you very much for this build and all the videos of your journey with it. I am obsessed with this build now, I tried it out on a solo-tactician run to get familiar with the mechanics and play-style and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. The cold mechanics throughout Act II were surprisingly effective, so much so I lamented having to change itemization in Act 3, but I did it anyway. I did use the spear of night and I ended up using broodmother's necklace/ring of regeneration to add even more poison damage to it and it's completely bonkers how much damage you can do with all the damage riders, especially on crits. I also discovered that the duelist's prerogative does almost as much damage (maybe 1-2 points less on the max end) as the spear at the cost of 2 AC with no shield and the cool darkness abilities so I don't have to do a 'kill the Nightsong run' if I don't want. I've replayed this build in my last two runs, once in another multi-player evil honor mode run and ended up being the front-liner for the party, and am currently doing a good run through with the rapier in Act III as a duelist. I started another solo run as a cleric/swords bard/warlock running the same items and idea but with the scoundrel ring for control. Again, thanks for this, big inspiration!
Oh you're most welcome and thank you so much for the comment! It is great to hear that you found it as awesomely fun to play as I did! Good input on the items. I missed picking up broodmother's necklace if I remember correctly so I never looked into poison and such. When I made the video I had not read up on duelist's prerogative but that's a good point you bring up. People do ask occasionally about a non DJ Shadowheart solution and I usually recommend Nyrulna as an alternative. Will try to remember your comment next time someone ask! Thanks again for your comment, it is so fun to hear! 🖤
One suggestion I would make for this build is the Band of the Mystic Scoundrel ring. It's found in Act 3 when a character is sent to the jungle in a backpack next to the dead body at the camp site on top of the cliff. When equipped, it allows you to cast any Enchantment or Illusion spell as a bonus action during any round in which you also hit an enemy with a weapon attack. Combined with the Helm of Arcane Acuity boosting the saving throws of your spells, this let's you go all in on powerful control magic like Command, Hypnotic Pattern, Hold Person, etc. which lets you end encounters virtually on the first round: Hit an enemy or enemies with an attack, cast a Bonus action Hold Person upleveled with Warlock to snag multiple enemies, then lay waste with free crits.
8-16-14-8-10-17 1-fighter, defence 2-cleric, war domain, sanctuary 3-warlock 4-warlock, command (from warlock), (agonising and rappelling blast) 5-warlock, pact of the blade, hold person 6-warlock, GWM (or ASI), Darkness (or mirror image) 7-warlock, hunger of hadar, devil's sight, fireball 8-fighter 9-warlock, counterspell 10-warlock, wall of fire 11-warlock, other feat 12-warlock
Just completed a solo honour run using a similar build. I went Great old one rather than fiend as fears inside hunger of hadar is a win button. I also ended up dropping sanctuary for create destroy water as wetting people in HoH doubles it's cold damage and then firing in an ice arrow makes it almost Impossible for enemies to get out of it. Bow of the banshee with arrow of many targets also works wonders for fearing inside HoH.
Great run and build, bravo ser. Currently using this for my HM Durge playthrough with a darkness party (shadow monk, necro wizard and gloom ranger) lots of fun!
I finally beat Honor Mode earlier today. Took me 49 attempts(RNGesus hates me, and I kept having the most cursed runs imaginable.) Been wanting to attempt a Solo Durge run for fun once I had my golden dice skin. This is definitely going to be my new build.
I started watching mid-act 2 and I couldn't figure out wth the build was spells/cantrips/melee. Very interesting build. Wish I could enjoy any other build than TB monk, it ruined me.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been looking for a build to try and am eager to give this a shot! Too scared to go solo but who knows, might try it one day! Thank you!
Oh you are so welcome! Very happy to hear that you're eager to give it a go 🖤. If you get stuck somewhere I hope my solo play-through can serve as a reference for you (even if you don't run it solo ofc :)). Good luck!
Great idea for a video and a nice way to summarize and close(?) the run (unless there's more post-run videos coming? :D). Seeing how I've watched (I think) every video from this run, I wanna do a summarizing comment, too :). Hope it's not too long ;). It was the second playthrough of BG3 I fully watched (after your previous one ;)) and it felt in a way "special" being there "as it happened". Also, being able to discuss tactics and exchange tips, was fun, too (I was the viewer who mentioned Elemental Wrap for Conjured Elementals. Hi :D). BG3 aside, mad respect for engaging with pretty much every comment, in a meaningful way, too. As far as I understand you're going to do another solo HM, right? Can't wait to see that one, too :). I learned a lot from your videos and I think they're a big part of why I'm actually getting much better at playing more strategically, instead of hitting everything with AoE spells and long resting after 2-3 fights because I'm out of spells, lol. I actually just successfully finished my first HM Ketheric/Myrkul fight today (although I'm running with a full party). No spell casters, only an open hand monk, a battle master fighter, a throwing barbarian/eldritch knight and an... assassin/gloom stalker/fighter (Astarion can put out like 90 dmg in round 1, it's crazy). Any spells come from scrolls, if necessary which is my first time playing (almost) only non-casters :). I keep using your videos as reference, too, before some boss fights, to see in action what to prepare for :D. Tl;dr: thanks for all the uploads, for lessons I learned, and for engaging with the viewers :).
❤ Thank you so much for those words, loved reading that!! It’s the last video from this run, I bought a new SSD two days ago so I can save videos for longer and maybe do highlights or similar stuff later on. I’ve learnt a lot from comments so I’m super happy with that. Still remember that elemental warp tip 😂🎉! Congrats on finishing that fight, it’s really rough and the one I personally dread the most! A lot can go wrong there real fast. That party sounds really strong. I prefer casters personally but I do have a weak spot for shadow monk 😂. Again, thank you for the comment 🙏🏻
This build was inspiring for me to learn and try solo runs, so thank you and huge congrats on you honor mode victory. Subsequent to playing your build all the way through on tactician, I ran a 7/5 oath of vengence GOO warlock, also as a durge with spear of evening and bhaalist armor. Also a hugely satisfying run, but it would be somewhat hard in honor mode, as it’s missing things like sanctuary and sleight of hand was lacking. Thinking out loud, I think a pact of the blade warlock that’s a mix of 5 paladin, oath of vengeance, 2 fighter, 1 war cleric, and 4 warlock GOO pact of the blade would make a good solo build. Planning to try this next. I would desperately miss Hunger of Hadar, maybe give up the fighter dip to get it, not sure yet.
That makes me happy to hear! Thank you for watching my shenanigans :D Pal/lock is a fun combo but I've played it too much heh. Hunger of Hadar is just so damn strong, it's nuts.
Thanks ! I love your videos, it's a big help for players like me who are scared of Honor mode =) When you talk about Sanctuary and Hunger of Hadar, which one should be cast first ?
lol all the misses at the end of the build showcase. seriously though you may have convinced me to try a similar build on an upcoming duo HM run, it looks like a blast!
I thought it was really funny when it happened but was not sure how to incorporate it until now :D. I really enjoyed this build, it is versatile and yet really strong. Good luck with your run!
I just got to fighting Gortash with this build on solo honor. For some reason I felt crazy and didn't deal with the steel watch, I just flew up to the roof and started fighting. got left with 2hp, and one of the npc's used dominate on me, and then the steel watch and all the NPC's started fighting Gortash and ignored me, so I survived and killed Gortash with them, then picked them all off XDDDDDDDDDD
Good question! I use it to throw potions, bombs, buffing potions and so on. It can also trigger/skip cut scenes for you like the barn in act 1. I use it for example in my Myrkul video and Buthir.
Hello, really like that fire/shadow build ! I have a question though, are the cleric and warrior dip that necessary? If I understood correctly, you take the warrior dip for the CON proficiency. But you can get it with the 3d feet if you go straight warlock 12 without sacrificing any warlock level. As for the cleric dip, you take it for Sanctuary, which I understand, because it is a Nice life saver. But are those 2 dips worth the loss of a 3d spell slot (imagine 3 fire balls), a 3d feat (war caster or resilient CON), another cantrip and another eldricht invocation?
Hey! Good question. I'd argue that it comes down to play-style and what you value from a build. As you say going pure warlock will allow us to pick up CON and unlock the 3rd spell slot. We also get heavy armor, 3 bonus melee attacks, action surge and second wind (although maybe not huge but it's there). I value action surge and sanctuary higher than that third spell slot personally but there will of course be people who prefer the spell slot. One thing we lose is Lifedrinker, which would be 6 damage / melee hit with 22 charisma. With Bhaalist Armor equipped I'd argue we already do enough damage and can afford to bring in extra utility and other skills.
@@FriendlyLich good point, I am convinced :) My favourite build btw, it is so much fun, so thanks for that Last question, do you mainly play 2H or with a shield?
@@jeanlouis6782 You're very welcome, glad to hear that! I mostly use 2H since I just like those kind of weapons in general. I do however equip a shield once in awhile. Specially if there are a lot of enemies in the encounter.
Hey i've just stumbled upon this guide and quite amazed how you was able to pull this off. I get why you take fighter and war cleric dip, but i would like to ask your opinion about just going full lvl 12 bladelock for lifedrinker invocation. Is it worth it and does it feel good to play?
Hi! Glad to hear that you stumbled in here :). I have not yet ran a 12 Warlock so I can't honestly answer, but I can provide my guess. Besides lacking fighter/cleric stuff we'd get a lot of good stuff from the last levels of warlock. I think I'd go Gith or Half-Orc. Also would like to add that it is 100% doable to solo the game with, just need to use other strategies. I have started a mono warlock pact of the blade run off-stream but she's only level 4 so far, so I can't really give you a better answer, sorry! Hope it helped at least a little. If you want you can check out www.youtube.com/@Stonepot113, s/he is currently running solo blade lock. 🖤
@@FriendlyLich Thanks for the insight. I'm just a big sucker for free on hit passives that's why i was curious. Plus i've also saw you spam Circle of Death on Raphael fight, which 12 lvl warlocks can cast without use of scrolls. My only gripes with mono class is what i want to use a heavy armor and i can't really wear it without wasting a feat for it or waiting till act 3 for raphael armor. :( I wish they had life drinker passive at lvl 11 rofl. Oh and also what do you think about vampiric touch spell? Can just use spell slot once and then use it free every turn, heal from it can proc Hellrider's Pride gloves too. :O
@@SorrowHead agreed about the heavy armor part! It just feels good to use imo 😂. I really like sanctuary and rest potions, super strong for long fights. I read somewhere that life cleric 1 will work good with vampiric touch but I haven’t really played around it. I like the spell thematically but not sure how good it actually is.
@@FriendlyLich Got it, thank you for answers man, i will lurk on your channel from time to time, very good information and also enjoyable gameplay, wishing you the best!
@@SorrowHead No problem and thank you, glad that you dropped in! I want to keep it as a sort of reference deck for various fights in the game. So players can look up a fight if the have trouble with it or just want a different strat.
Good question. We'd miss out on con save proficiency, action surge and the war priest charges. I don't think I'd trade smite for that but I have not either given it a lot of thought. But that's my spontaneous thoughts about it at least.
I’ve taken a lot from this video picked seldraine drow I’m at lvl 7 atm so I’m lvl1 fighter 1 cleric ( picked eilistraee) 5 warlock. Going as a one handed sword fighter. I’m torn with the last 5 levels I want to go 6 levels in fighter for the 2 feats and extra attack and battle master really torn. I like the idea of having pact of the blade 2 attacks that stack with fighter two attacks and then the war cleric bonus attack the action surge
@@FriendlyLich enjoying the build so far gotten to act 3 I’ve picked up Dullists prerogative does that mean I can drop war cleric is for the bonus attack because of the bonus action I get with the weapon?
@@ashiy8310 been awhile since I read that item but I believe so. I value sanctuary very highly but if you’re not soloing then it’s not as big of a loss
Sure stuff! You could use Nyrulna with this or the Selune version of the spear. You'll lack the aoe darkness on hit though but it's probably doable without :)
@@FriendlyLich ah amazing, thanks so much - been watching your progress and i'm gonna use this for my Dark Urge HM attempt - any other tips for the build? (non-solo)
@@gnarlygnomez Hmm, maybe not related to the build itself but examine your targets and check if you can make good use of poison. For example Gortash got 10 con and no proficiency, which makes him a prime target for that paralyzing mucus poison :)
Using a very similar build but using the Selune spear here. I think it comes down to action economy. If you can open with an arrow of darkness from invisibility then you may use the surprise round and have a similar effect as Shar's spear. Or if you don't mind concentrating, use darkness spell. Or - if you are using a group - have someone else cast darkness :D
Great guide! I have a question re your damage numbers. How are you clearing 65+ on piercing damage alone? I can see 1d8 from dual handing the spear, an additional 1d6 if obscured, 3 from enchantment, 6 from cha and 10 from gwm. Doubled for aura of murder thats like 66 on a max damage roll but youre getting 60+ and even 70 on the brain on a non crit and i cant figure it out! Only asking because i want to replicate something similar and need to undertsand the math!
Hi! Thanks for checking in the video! Been awhile since I fought the brain and just want to let you know I'm not really good with math 😅. I know I had that Dolor bow equipped that add 7 piercing dmg on crits at least. Both 70+ are crits if you look careful, the color makes it a bit hard to see but it's there. Highest non crit I (think) saw was 60. Enchanting the weapon with Elemental Weapon (from the act 2 glaive) also provide it with an additional +1 enchantment (on top of the +3 already there). I'll let you know if I come up with anything else!
Ah I totally forgot about the dolor bow. +7 definitely makes sense, thanks for your prompt reply! Love the build and it's inspired me to do a solo HM warlock!
I have both read that you can get it with and without her. Last thing I read was that you cannot so I brought Shadowheart for the conversation with Nightsong. I'm fine with doing companion quests as long as it does not involve fighting.
You can’t afaik. I decided that companion quests were fine as long as it did not involve any fighting. So I ended Balthazar early to be able to bring SH to Nightsong :)
@@FriendlyLich I did it solo and got the spear. You kill aylin but she rezzes instantly as you aren't the chosen one so the spear does not get the ability to permadeath aylin. Then release aylin and I got the shar spear as a reward. This may have bugged though as I haven't seen that info anywhere else.
bro i was doing this build when i found an weapon called Belm in jaheiras house. It gives you an shar spear attack with bonus action per turn. You can just go full warlock for life drinker and 3 feats. ASI ASI dual wielder.
The cleric dip nets us 2 things. First, and imo, the most important is access to the spell Sanctuary. The second is that we also get the War Priest charges.
@@Unforgiv3nSandman Ah I see. When using effects from items/scrolls and such you will use your latest added class spell casting modifier. So if you go Cleric -> Warlock you will use charisma. But if you instead go Warlock -> Cleric -> Warlock then you'll still use wisdom.
So what will be next for you? Another solo character? Or you will give yourself some time to rest and relax from bg3? What another big game is on your target? I have started playing Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes , it's a great Japanese roleplaying game with turn based combat and 100 heroes to collect.
Hey yea I'll be going again with a druid this time. I havent played bg3 for awhile, just been slacking with editing and uploads so I'm starting to get the itch again. I hope another crpg will get released but with the current state of the gaming industry who knows how long that will happen :/. I'll check out that game, thanks for the recommendation!
@FriendlyLich if you are a PC player I know no rest for the wicked is great game out there and rogue trader from owlcat is a warhammer 40k crpg if you like warhammer.
I played Wrath of the Righteous quite a bit. Solo ran it up to the siege on unfair but it was too hard to be fun imo. Great game though! I’m waiting for owlcat to release more patches for rogue trader before I purchase it. 😅
@FriendlyLich I know , they make great games like crpgs but they have more holes in them than cheese 🧀 haha , what about Pillars of Eternity? I tried Divinity Orginal Sin 2 before Bg3 and this game is bloody hard!
@@Ashayia1986 haha yeap! Looking forward for it though! I did play DOS:2! Loved it but it was a while ago! Not sure at all how it has aged either. Did you play it recently?
do you think it's worth killing the nightsong for the spear as it messes up alot of questlines? can you work around with another weapon or does it have to be the spear?
You could run with the selune version of the spear or pick up Nyrulna. Both should work although you will miss out on the darkness effect on the Shar version.
Can you write me, how did you do ~60 dmg by using Shar’s spear? Because due to my math you should deal less dmg and im very corious what im missing. Btw great build i really wanna try it
@@FriendlyLich Okay, no makes sense, i didnt notice that bhaalist armor buff. Thank u so much, now i need to try this. Have you ever conaidered to make a build based on paladin? I really would like to watch one
@@antoniszymanski6082 it’s not super clear so I get it 🤘🏻. I’ve been contemplating both mono paladin and that mega popular bard/pal. Which one do you think you’d like most?
@@FriendlyLich Im still learning about multiclassing (from your videos btw, so thanks 😉), but i was thinking about pal/cler or, as you said, mono paladin. I cant wait to see your decission.
Im a little late to the video, but im level 7 and while i dont feel terrible, i feel like its often better to just dump both my eldritch blasts into something instead of swinging my sword. I have usually a 50-65% hitrate with the sword so it feels like half my combats are just wasted. Am i doing something wrong?
I think you can get the ring of protection if you save all the tieflings but I’m not confident. The spear can be replaced by nyrulna. I don’t know if you can get the Bhaalist armor in a good way though. It’s still a solid build, just not as powerful.
so you start with 1 level in cleric then 6 in warlock right off the start and respect at 7? somehow it shows my primary stat is still wisdom after taking a couple levels in warlock and my command skill scaled off wisdom and not charisma. what did I miss?
That is the correct leveling order yes. So, two questions. You're casting the warlock version of command and not cleric? Also, if you check the combat log and compare the save dc to your warlock save is it correct? If you only check the tooltip it will state "WIS" because it's a wisdom save for the enemy with your warlock spell save dc as difficulty. Hope this solved it!
@@FriendlyLich ok thanks I got it figured out. Also another question. When you have your weapon bound it will scale off charisma so you don't need to use strength anymore? No more hill giant pots after level 4 or when your charisma is at 20 or are they still helpful?
@@mightythor-9286 Exactly so strength will only help with other stuff. Carrying capacity, athletics and such. You're better off with bloodlust, resistances or something like that.
@@FriendlyLichsorry one last question. After your play through would you suggest any other gear? Helldusk gloves over dex or maybe the tower shield over kerherics. I’m not sure if they are better or not. Also you were popping the brain for like over 70 dmg per poke. How you hit that hard?
@@mightythor-9286 No worries. The main damage comes from Bhaalist Armor which doubles piercing damage. I would pick up new gloves yes. There’s so much gear in the game to explore, some pieces fundamentally changes a build 😅
@@mango7735 I never got the gloves from House of Hope but those would be better. I used dex gloves at some points to get a bit more initiative but mostly used flawed helldusk if I remember correctly
The last added class (not level) will be the one used. I hope I’m wrong and that it’s been patched but I don’t think so. Will check it out once I can play today!
Is it okay to play caster EB build with this setup for solo? or Padlock maybe ? I only cleared honour with stealth archer (which is broken) and i want to clear without stealth cheese.
It will not be sorlock crazy but you can rely on EB (repelling and agonizing invocations) and then finish off monsters when they come close to you. I've done quite a few encounters with only Hunger of Hadar + EB. Fun fact, if you use Hunger of Hadar and then Sanctuary it will not break upon damage :)
I’ve played this similarly as a padlock. Obviously a slightly different build without sanctuary, guidance, or action surge, but still pretty close in other areas like battlefield control.
Hey, I wrote this to another person asking that, let me know if it's still unclear. "When using effects from items/scrolls and such you will use your latest added class spell casting modifier. So if you go Cleric -> Warlock you will use charisma. But if you instead go Warlock -> Cleric -> Warlock then you'll still use wisdom."
I took them all. But I’d go luck of the far realms first and then pick up cull the weak. After that move on to volatile shield and stage fright. Black Hole in the late game
Like if your last added class (not latest level up) is cleric then you will add your widow modifier to it, which will be way worse in comparison with charisma in this case. For example: Warlock -> cleric -> warlock will use wisdom modifier Cleric -> Warlock -> cleric will use charisma Not that we want 2 levels of cleric, it is only to highlight how it works. Hope this helped!
The extra attack if you get a kill/crit works. The build mostly use two-handlers though. When you add cleric you’ll get wis as modifier and when last you add warlock you’ll get charisma.
@@FriendlyLich No it doesn´t give you a modifier. Same if you start as warlock and dip into fighter you can´t wear heavy armor. Thats the reason why people multiclass with the same modifiers like lock/sorc/bard/pala and not lock/wiz. The only way to get a modifier is the feat that allows you to use magic from a school of your choice.
@@FriendlyLich Nope. I tested your build yesterday and you can google it for yourself. How to get a spellcasting modifier as a fighter. It only works with the feat. The exception in your build are pact weapon and eldritch blast. They get a modifier from eldritch invocations and bind weapon. The rest not.
@@ohya2570 Not sure what level you are but in general try to setup AoE opportunities at choke points. Once done try to keep enemies inside it. Cloud of Daggers/Hunger of Hadar. If enemies get out you hit ‘em with ye trusty pact weapon. I got a whole playlist here on UA-cam with fights from every act if you want to see it in action. Good luck!

I finally beat Honor Mode earlier today. Took me 49 attempts(RNGesus hates me, and I kept having the most cursed runs imaginable.)
Been wanting to attempt a Solo Durge run for fun once I had my golden dice skin. This is definitely going to be my new build.
Big congrats and I must say that’s dedication! RNG can be frustrating for sure.
Glad to hear. Good luck with the run! \o/
Love to see the build. Very clever
Thank you! Makes me glad to hear that you think so :)
I started watching mid-act 2 and I couldn't figure out wth the build was spells/cantrips/melee. Very interesting build. Wish I could enjoy any other build than TB monk, it ruined me.
Going to save that one :) started honour solo with a warlock thanks to you !
That makes me happy to hear. Let me know how it goes! =)
Good luck!

Thank you very much! =) Happy hunting!
Congrats mate you did it! And ty for the build I’ll surely try it ❤
Thank you 🙏🏻
Congrats again! Can't wait to see what you think up for the next one :)
Thank you! Hopefully it will be entertaining (to watch and play)! =)
Great video. Short, to the point, and very thoughtful.
I wonder what your play would look like with a whole optimized party 😎
Thank you!
Who knows! It's been quite sometime since I last played with a full party :D
Thank you for watching my shenanigans :D
Pal/lock is a fun combo but I've played it too much heh. Hunger of Hadar is just so damn strong, it's nuts.
Thanks ! I love your videos, it's a big help for players like me who are scared of Honor mode =)
When you talk about Sanctuary and Hunger of Hadar, which one should be cast first ?
Glad I could help! You cast HoH first and then Sanctuary. You can do it in the same turn but it’s important to do it in the correct order. Good luck!
This is the next build im using it looks like so much fun
I loved it personally. Like most builds the first levels are a bit slow though. Enjoy!
@@FriendlyLich I thought about doing as shadow heart and just going full sharran since the main weapon is the shar spear
Great idea. I’ve entertained that thought too :)
Now to watch it all again in one big marathon

Really nice build!
I'm glad to hear that :)
lol all the misses at the end of the build showcase. seriously though you may have convinced me to try a similar build on an upcoming duo HM run, it looks like a blast!
Haha wow! Man please tell me you recorded that!!🤣

@@FriendlyLich Awesome build btw, thank you!
@@qq911 Only recently started to record so I know what you mean. Super fun to hear that you've been running with the build!
looks good so far but can u explain me why u use Mage Hand? I've never had úse for it
Good question! I use it to throw potions, bombs, buffing potions and so on. It can also trigger/skip cut scenes for you like the barn in act 1.
I use it for example in my Myrkul video and Buthir.
amazing and very creative build!!
Thank you! Glad you like it =)
Hello, really like that fire/shadow build !
@@FriendlyLich good point, I am convinced :)
My favourite build btw, it is so much fun, so thanks for that
Last question, do you mainly play 2H or with a shield?
@@jeanlouis6782 You're very welcome, glad to hear that! I mostly use 2H since I just like those kind of weapons in general. I do however equip a shield once in awhile. Specially if there are a lot of enemies in the encounter.
Thanks for this!
My pleasure!
Shot for the breakdown bro too good!! 🤙
Glad you enjoyed it =)
What is the advantage of going fighter and cleric vs paladin? Devotion Paladins get access to sanctuary and smites
Good question. We'd miss out on con save proficiency, action surge and the war priest charges. I don't think I'd trade smite for that but I have not either given it a lot of thought. But that's my spontaneous thoughts about it at least.
@@FriendlyLich Thanks for the quick reply!
If you want to for the second extra attack (non HM of course) then I'd pick up fighter 6 too :)
@@FriendlyLich enjoying the build so far gotten to act 3 I’ve picked up Dullists prerogative does that mean I can drop war cleric is for the bonus attack because of the bonus action I get with the weapon?

is there an alternative to the spear? i don't wanna take SH down that route. Congratulations on the solo!
Is the phalar aluve strong enough to use for the entire game? The sacrifice needed for the shar spear is too great 😢
I wouldn't solo with it for the entire game. You can pick up Nyrulna in Act 3 instead of the Shar spear.
@@FriendlyLich yeah I’m still a noob so I won’t be soloing just yet, but ok I will get that once I get to that part of the game. Thanks!
@@Cashh973 We have all been new at one point:). Keep it up!
i got a quick question do we have to use the Shar variant of the spear ? or is the Selune Variant ok as well ?
You can definitely use the Selune spear or Nyrulna. No Shar's darkness ability but it should be fine without it honestly.
@@Dewjman23 No problem! Super fun that you enjoyed the build and got inspired! Good luck with the run :)
So how do you get the shar's spear of evening without shadowheart?
I have both read that you can get it with and without her. Last thing I read was that you cannot so I brought Shadowheart for the conversation with Nightsong. I'm fine with doing companion quests as long as it does not involve fighting.
How did you get Shars spear solo? Congrats on the W 👊🏻
@@Boradan01 Nice!! I got to try that 💯🖤
High elf mandatory? Or can i use any race as long as I have the profiencies for shield and weapons?
It is not a mandatory selection, actually anything's fine since proficiency from War Cleric covers everything you need
bro i was doing this build when i found an weapon called Belm in jaheiras house.
It gives you an shar spear attack with bonus action per turn.
You can just go full warlock for life drinker and 3 feats. ASI ASI dual wielder.
Oh Belm is a nice weapon. You'd get a bit more damage but lose utility and burst, could be worth it!
I am still confused with the Cleric dip...is it required? I didn't get the explanation in the vid
The cleric dip nets us 2 things. First, and imo, the most important is access to the spell Sanctuary. The second is that we also get the War Priest charges.
@@FriendlyLich I get that part - but you mentioned something about it using wisdom modifier that got me confused
@@FriendlyLich thanks for clarifying!
@@Unforgiv3nSandman no problem, hope it made sense :)
Did you play it recently?
do you think it's worth killing the nightsong for the spear as it messes up alot of questlines? can you work around with another weapon or does it have to be the spear?
any recomendations?
You could run with the selune version of the spear or pick up Nyrulna. Both should work although you will miss out on the darkness effect on the Shar version.
@@FriendlyLich i plan to use a party that uses darkness and see through darkness with darkness arrows etc. so i hope that compensates a little
@@nickykoers3541 That should be good enough :) Good luck with the run!
is it possible to obtain the spear of night while solo or is shadowheart required to be with you during the questline for it?
It is not possible unless you bring Shadowheart there.
I found an older comment where someone claim that it is possible to get solo. However I have not tested it so I don't want to make any promises.
Can you write me, how did you do ~60 dmg by using Shar’s spear? Because due to my math you should deal less dmg and im very corious what im missing. Btw great build i really wanna try it
The Bhaalist Armor doubles damage from piercing to enemies close to you. Also got GWM.
Hey! That does sound too low. What's your charisma? What weapon are you using and did you bind it?
How would this build differ for a Resist Durge?
If I didn't want to steal the idol or kill Nightsong?
I think you can get the ring of protection if you save all the tieflings but I’m not confident. The spear can be replaced by nyrulna. I don’t know if you can get the Bhaalist armor in a good way though. It’s still a solid build, just not as powerful.
@@FriendlyLich I haven't read up on Bhaalist. I could just lean into adamamtine scale and shield...maybe
so you start with 1 level in cleric then 6 in warlock right off the start and respect at 7? somehow it shows my primary stat is still wisdom after taking a couple levels in warlock and my command skill scaled off wisdom and not charisma. what did I miss?
Purely curiosity, but why did you choose Tiamat?
There's two reasons. One is that it's one of my favorite bands and I think dragon's are awesome :)
what do you think would be a good level to dip into if i don’t want cleric?
Hmm, I would probably add another fighter level and pick up battle master in that case. Precision/push/riposte maneuvers
@@FriendlyLich i see, and did you stick with helldusk gloves? or are there better mid/late game options?
@@mango7735 I never got the gloves from House of Hope but those would be better. I used dex gloves at some points to get a bit more initiative but mostly used flawed helldusk if I remember correctly
What do you mean you’ll get wisdom modifier instead of charisma on items? I don’t
@@FriendlyLich Thank you
@@scheia101 You're very welcome =)
I’ve played this similarly as a padlock. Obviously a slightly different build without sanctuary, guidance, or action surge, but still pretty close in other areas like battlefield control.
is there a reason why my melee is doing such low dmg even when i have it pacted?
At lvl 12 with Bhaalist armor?
Why is it mandatory to take 1 level of cleric before taking warlock I still don’t really get it.
Hey, I wrote this to another person asking that, let me know if it's still unclear.

Quite new to the game , what does it mean by needing to go Cleric before warlock otherwise you will get a different modifier on items ? thank you .
Like if your last added class (not latest level up) is cleric then you will add your widow modifier to it, which will be way worse in comparison with charisma in this case.
For example:
Warlock -> cleric -> warlock will use wisdom modifier
Cleric -> Warlock -> cleric will use charisma
Not that we want 2 levels of cleric, it is only to highlight how it works. Hope this helped!
It should have contained more crit fails, since it was 50% of your rolls XD
Hah next run I can do a critical highlight reel. Bought a new SSD so I can save my vids instead of deleting em to save space
@@FriendlyLich Sounds like a good investment and idea!
Well. Starting as fighter means you have no spellcasting modifier for your warlock spells. and GWM does NOT work with one handed weapons.
