I'm entering this field alone too and I'm so happy because I identify so much and feel that wind of hope (even though I know it has its ups and downs, of course) but videos from people like you (and I identified with you so much, I also wanted to do fashion ahaha) make me feel more welcomed. Thank you for existing, you give off a very sweet and kind vibe that makes me want to be your friend aaaa

I've been having an emotional breakdown since this afternoon because I'm anxious about what to do with my life, and then your video shows up in my recommendations and reassures me 🥹
I'm currently doing an Associate degree that I don't want, with the hope that I can use it as a stepping stone to get into the Bachelor's that I actually want (Psychology)... But you see, I'm a creative person and I've spent a lot of time in the past teaching myself art, graphic design, video editing, front-end web development - all the stuff 😅 The problem is, I feel anxious whenever I spend time on those things now - because I don't really have a strong support system and I keep fearing that someone is going to tell me I'm wasting time, or that practising my skills doesn't matter since I'm not making money from it, or that I should get a summer job... etc. These are all things I've been told repeatedly at home, and it's been taking a toll on me mentally since it's from someone who I really care about and want to make proud.
I purposely have NOT been trying to get a job this summer because:
    1) I'm a bit traumatised by some bad job-hunting experiences I've had over the years (and the one job I got basically fired me for a stupid reason and disregarded all my hard work) and...
    2) Getting a full-time job right now will only make it harder to work on graphic design, which I've been trying to get into as a freelancer recently. I know some people balance the two, but it's difficult for me at this point in my journey.
It's been really rough, but a friend of mine who has been working as a graphic designer has started the process of launching his own design business and he's welcomed me to be a part of the team, so I have some hope and I'm just trying to stay positive and improve my skills. Still, it's very hard to move forward when you don't feel supported by those closest to you. It's heartbreaking for me to the point where I feel physically ill...
Anyway! On a positive note! I'm glad I got to watch your video, and I'm really interested in seeing more stuff from you since you seem so nice and relatable 🥹 Wishing you all the best as you continue your journey with graphic design and Fashion Business! ✨🫶✨

Wow, I felt so connected with your comment. In my case, I feel anxious when I try to do projects because my head loves to make me convince myself that I'm not really good and that nobody likes my designs. I even unconsciously compare myself to others, I look with envy at some designers' projects because I'm like "God, I wish I had done that."
But well, it's like you say, it's a matter of being positive (even if it's difficult) and keep practicing.
PS: If that person you want so much to support you makes you feel bad. Try to talk to them about how bad their comments make you feel, because the reality is that you're not wasting time, you're learning (always) about something you like, so that's not wasting time. But, if that doesn't help, don't be discouraged!! You'll find beautiful people who will be there supporting you in what you like. (My English is not very good, sorry.)

@@lizbooks I think comparison in professional and even social terms is a good thing, it’s almost our innate part for “survival”. We compare to learn about our vulnerabilities or advantages and become better! Just take your time, enjoy the process, look up to your peers and professionals a level above you! You are doing great, I’m sure, so don’t let yourself feel discouraged! ❤️❤️❤️
