This dramatic piece is based around the plainsong acclamations of “Lumen Christi” (The Light of Christ). This is proclaimed three times at the start of the Great Vigil of Easter, when the new fire is kindled as a symbol of Christ’s passing from death to life. The increasingly insistent evocations of this simple melody are contrasted with lively sections depicting the joy and drama of the Resurrection.

Fabulous!! Great to hear this piece in the 'big space' that Ely Cathedral provides. Wonderful sense of articulation and pace, makes the piece stand up and walk.
