Fabulous! I love how easy you make it. I've been looking for a video to share with collectors who buy my framed art prints and this is perfect :) Thank you.
Great to see you back. Given that you have the jig with the screws in it, why can you not just put jig on the wall on the centre point, and give it a gentle tap. Then the screws will mark their own positions and save all the measuring?
Always check your videos if i have a project coming up, and this is perfect as I am about to hang a picture. It is a rather heavy piece, and tips on screws etc?
Glad to help Drew. If you have a stud finder, see it you can find a stud to anchor it into (with a screw or nail) since it's heavy. If not, I'd recommend using wall anchors that will open up inside the wall and make the hanging point more. secure. Best, DFJ
It's easier and safer for the work to remove the wire and use the D-rings to hang. Just make sure the rings are at the same distance from the top. Simple L-hooks with one nail are enough to hold that piece and make minimal damage to the wall. I hang works for museums and collector's homes and would never use a Sharpie on the wall. Pencils only! I also keep any marks to a minimum. It hurts to see you draw those long lines on your wall. Your jig is a great idea if you must hang on the wire. I usually use the groove on the mini levels for that purpose, which comes to about 9 inches between hooks.
David, thanks for jumping in and sharing your expertise and wisdom. This is one of the great things about this medium - getting to interact with our viewers. Thanks for stopping by and taking time to write. Best, DFJ
Agree with above. Somewhere I picked up that people tend to hang art work too high, and unless in a particular situation, the horizontal mid line of the work should be at 56 inches from the floor.
Talk about making a simple job complicated. I can hang that picture in five minutes.Determine the picture height. Determine the center of the wall. Measure down from top of frame to hanging wire. Mark that distance from picture height on wall. Nail a picture hanger at the spot. Hang the picture, level and put piece of putty to the frame corner to keep it in place. You are done.
Doesn’t anyone know how to use an art hook 25 35 50 pound art hooks….? No wonder why my art installation business is booming everyone here makes these extremely easy installs needlessly complicated… a 36” level…2 art hooks..a pencil(optional)…& a hammer…that’s it.

Any link for the jig? I'm ready to make it now, but wanted to see if I could just copy yours.
I spoke too soon! Did some more digging for y'all: ua-cam.com/video/BkLVmRgycWA/v-deo.html
It’s a very sophisticated and confusing way of hanging pictures. Keep it simple...geez.
Where's the making of the jig video?
Well presented; thank you for sharing.
DIY way to hang pictures. No pro would do this on site though. Just use a ruled 24" level to do everything you've done here.
Thanks for commenting. best, DFJ
Last time I drew on the wall I got scolded by my mother. I was five!😝
Too much measuring. Level and center your jig, and transfer the screw locations to the wall. Use longer screws on your jig to mark the wall.
Thanks, Allan!
I'm getting anxiety just watching this thing...... too sophisticated for me.

There's a bad echo or is it just me?
The Dad I didn't have
Seems needlessly complicated.
Thanks daddy
Way too complicated, no normal person would ever do these instructions or is that crafty.
