Dear Adam, half a month ago, I have watched one of your video by chance and I was impressed with what you are doing. Helping out shelters and pets there, increasing the chance of adoption with beautiful photos must be such a great feeling you have. As I am a photographer as well (never tried pet photography before), in my area (Almaty, Kazakhstan) I have contacted several shelters. They loved the idea what I had on my mind. I will have my first volunteer photo shoot in 3 days and so excited about it. I owe you a special thanks for giving me this idea.
That’s amazing! I’m so glad I could inspire you! Please let me know how it goes!
Having watched your videos, both here and on the Westcott channel, I started volunteering at my local shelter, doing photos for them. It went over so well, that when they got a grant to purchase a custom adoption/vaccination vehicle, I was asked to create the design and do the photos for it! It is an awesome thing to now see my work at different events around town, and knowing that I get to play a small part in finding homes for these awesome dogs. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
You have no idea how happy this makes me. That’s why I do it too!!!
Thanks Adam! We’re going to be doing our first shoot for a local shelter in a couple weeks and we’ll be visiting them this week. I’m not sure if they’re going to have much space for us yet, they definitely won’t have a dedicated room for us. Any advice for working in cramped spaces?
That’s awesome Jeremy! You’ll have to do the best you can with what you’ve got. Let them show you the available spaces they have and I can help you asses from there. Ideally the space isn’t too far from the kennels but if they have to go outside first before coming to where the photos will be, that will give them a chance to go potty. If you want to take photos of the available space and email them to me at adam@agoldphoto.com, I can help you asses.
@@agoldphotopetphotographyst5683 you’re awesome! Thanks so much I’ll be in touch after we visit on Tuesday.
how can i get started doing something like this for shelter dogs? how do i approach? how do i know which shelters to ask? ;o; pls give me advice if you can.. im use to setting up sessions with owners but ive never attempted shelters as much as i would love to because i want to help dogs get homes too.
We actually have a course in our website that covers all these questions and more. Check it out at agoldphoto.com/education/live-online-course-adoptable-animal-studio-photography/
