One of the best songs from Lemmings! I always considered the Sega Genesis port to have the most well-arranged music of all the Lemmings ports. Whoever did the arrangement on that version really nailed it.
Maybe it differs from version to version, but i think the Pchelbel's Canon song in Lemmings has the correct chord progression, only transposed to C. Could be wrong though...also 7 years late to the party 😅
Lemmings! YES! I loved this tune and game - spent many an hour ripping my (then young) hair out trying to rescue those little buggers. Brings back memories! thumbs up :)
dash8brj I have the game myself since 1992 when my dad built a 286 back then with a Sound Blaster 1.0 installed and it came with some games, like Lemmings for DOS. The diskette still works and I use the joystick to use the commands for the Lemmings.
This song was also used in a game called Pac-Guy (specifically the Christmas edition), which is a sort of Pac-Man inspired game. It also steals tracks from Star Wars and Megaman.
Very nice. I can't wait to see all your future videos that will without a doubt be amazing like always! You have an amazing time doing this stuff because I'm sure your having as much fun as i am. :D
The AMIGA one of the track was so much better but for a keyboard version I guess it was a good idea to base it off of of the MS-DOS one as that was the closest to a Yamaha chip because it was one I guess baseing it off of the Megadrive one would have worked too.
Top work! This video reminded me that I have (or had) all of the Lemmings music as .mod files on some old Amiga floppies. The mods were actually taken from the Acorn Archimedes version of the game; not as good as the Amiga version but much much easier to rip. After some rummaging around in my dad's attic I found a few of the disks and took them home. Checked them for mould and they seemed ok. I got myself a "SuperCard Pro" to copy the disks to my PC but during reading various mechanical failures occurred, resulting in most of the magnetic material being scraped off the plastic disc.
There's one song I definitely correlate with this game (it was the only song you'd hear on the Psygnosis PSX demo disc which had four Lemmings levels on it), ... Can-Can as made famous by Jacques Offenbach :)
Okay I found out why it's called Pachelbel's Canon. Apparently it's just a name that was given to it by some sites, but isn't actually its official name. In the files of the DOS version, it's just called lemmings1.mid.
i played lemmings when i was young on my dads quadra and later also on a g3. good times. I always like the cancan 8-bit version and didn't even know it was a classical song until much later.
...Let's Go! Lemmings music was actually good, you didn't even need to turn it off to make the game bearable. Just last week i heard the strange science item that there's a type of ant that explodes itself as a tactic and they mentioned the game Lemmings in reference. Maybe Bombardier Ants is the name?
I had a really cheap keyboard as a small kid. I might find it somewhere in the basement but I don't think i will. ---- I know you've created this channel for "shitty" keyboards but do you think you will review actual keyboards and synths on this channel someday?
8-Bit Keys That's cool. I also thought more that direction. "Vintage" is a very strechable term though. For example: When looking up the MC-909 on Ebay for example (especailly on the German marketplace) it is often described as "vintage" or "retro". WTF! Some of these devices are not even ten years old!! I'm so frustrated about this. Anyway, I would really appriciate something along those lines.
I suspect they called it "Pachelbel's Canon" because it uses the same (or a slight variation of the same) chord progression, and all the rest of the song is basically an improvisation over that basic chord progression. I can kind of understand why you missed it; the chords from Pachelbel's Canon have become so commonplace nowadays that they don't really stand out as being from that piece anymore, especially if you listen to a lot of music. All the same, the name is still lazy (and possibly misleading). If every song that used this chord sequence called itself "Pachelbel's Canon", there'd be literally hundreds of songs with that same title.
I loved the song! I listened to both versions of the Lemmings song and they were both great! Admittedly I haven't played the original Lemmings. I did play a version called Pingus on Linux which was like Lemmings but you were trying to get penguins to safety.
I've thought about getting the sa76 to play in bed or on the couch or on vacation. Any other one you could think of ? Something light, 49 ish keys that's new and decent size keys maybe even sensitive keys?
Transposing... Wait, isn't there an octave switch on the SA-76? If not, I might want to try to circuit bend an octave switcher onto the one I bought in the future.
After listening to this song a few times I realized it does have a resemblance to Canon in D. The chord progression is the same, but the melody is different. Compare the rhythm in this to the bass notes in the original song.
Excellent stuff! It is the ground bass from Pachelbel's Canon, just with the actual canon parts replaced by something else, so that makes it... not sure what, but calling it Pachelbel's Canon really doesn't seem right!
0:44 Actually, the DOS version doesn't give it names. Its "official" name, at least in the Windows and SNES versions, is just "Lemming 1". 1:44 The more he goes on, the more it sounds like the Amiga version.
I have the Casio SA 77 which is exactly the same as this one (same look, same instruments with the same number,...), I belive the only difference is that mine has a European Mainland AC Adaptor because I'm European :)
Hi Mr. 8 bit. Are you going to putting the sheet music on your website? Also didnt they create a C64 keyboard that overlayed the C64? Yse that for a video!
+Jack Johnson - Actually, I'm no good with sheet music (either making it or reading it) Plus I don't actually have a website setup. But one of the things I strive for in my videos is clear presentation so the viewer can see exactly what keys I'm pressing on all of the different parts of the song. So hopefully anyone who wants to learn the song can do so just by watching the video. And Yes, there was a keyboard that overlayed on the C64. A friend of mine used to have one of those back in the day. I do not currently have one, though.
Lemmings had great music.

It´s the Pachabel´s Cannon!
I have the Casio SA-76

That voice aahs are much more familiar for me
I like the VL-1
i can see why it was called Pachelbells canon, Because there are several parts of it played in the background
I wonder how he can not hear that, it's quite obvious :D
Cannon Rock
Favourite version is PlayStation
cool video :)
This video is 6 years old but where did you get those lemmings sprites on the thumbnail
thanks but i had already make this video withh this song like it alot
the Mac version on Mac OS 9.2.2 on a iMac g4 lamp model sounds amazing
Is this skull some sort of old school humanist thing?
man that brings back memories , lemmings was so addictive in the day.
São Paulo
The lemmings soundtrack brings back so much childhood memories.
Very cool. :) CASIOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo.......!!!!!! :)
Lemmings! YES! I loved this tune and game - spent many an hour ripping my (then young) hair out trying to rescue those little buggers. Brings back memories! thumbs up :)
tell me about it, used to have one on the apple computer back in the 90's
dash8brj I have the game myself since 1992 when my dad built a 286 back then with a Sound Blaster 1.0 installed and it came with some games, like Lemmings for DOS. The diskette still works and I use the joystick to use the commands for the Lemmings.

how did you pronounce tchaicovsky?
This 50 dollar keyboard from Amazon? A friend of my mother’s has one of these.
Very nice. I can't wait to see all your future videos that will without a doubt be amazing like always! You have an amazing time doing this stuff because I'm sure your having as much fun as i am. :D
😅😅😅😅😍😍😍😍Hohoho merry Christmas 🎄😘🎅💞💖🤗🎊💗🎁🙂☺️😉
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How to record audio???
Trio did da da da on that little keyboard, i think
I mean... Oh boy, that's a man Who absolutely knows his stuff

Wow, I think the Amiga version of this track is particularly weak, actually. I hate that it doesn't go up all the way at the end.
the amiga version is killer
I have sa76
lovely !

Legal né
Adding the sound cloud channel! Great memories from playing lemmings in the PC and in the Amiga
Loved Lemmings and its soundtrack. Originally played it on the Mac Powerbook.
Seems the name was a tongue in cheek joke about how it very nearly rips it off.
The "Voice Ahhs" sample sounds like it's taken directly out of a Fairlight. Hell, so does the synth bass.
I have one of these keyboards, and they are very nice.
The ground bass from pachelbel's canon is one of the core bits of the song, you even play it in isolation at 1:55...
Okay I found out why it's called Pachelbel's Canon. Apparently it's just a name that was given to it by some sites, but isn't actually its official name. In the files of the DOS version, it's just called lemmings1.mid.
Look into the Casio HT-700. Great 80s keyboard
Thank you for posting. I appreciate it.
Audio Evolution is a solution.
that was sweet love the lemmings game back in the day
The MSX cover of your intro is GREAT !
I experimented Audacity
i would like you to do a review on the sa-76
can you please do a full review on this keyboard
He said he intended to in the very video you're commenting on :P
in brazil this keyboard the price is R$390,74
You know what 80's and 90's Yamaha PSR have that Your new Casio SA keyboard didn't have. The systhesizer and YM3812
i played lemmings when i was young on my dads quadra and later also on a g3. good times. I always like the cancan 8-bit version and didn't even know it was a classical song until much later.
I definitely hear a large portion of the Pachelbel's chord progression. It's not exact, but I can see where they found the comparison.
Well david is a boomer, it has to sound EXACTLY like the original or it shares no similarities with it.
A cool episode would be to compare the music between most of the machines at the time.
Fry’s Electronics probably loves you, Mr. 8-bit man. Hope they help pay your mortgage!
Again: do the Zelda theme on the Casio PT-80! Or on your "new" Casio VL-1.
In the store the keyboard under the one you bought (in the green box), is the one I own, lol
3:21
Haha what a tune, so many memories of playing Lemmings on my Amiga.
Very nice done!
Definitely some Pachebel in that baseline. the main melody changed a lot but the baseline is definitely from Pachebel.

I know you've created this channel for "shitty" keyboards but do you think you will review actual keyboards and synths on this channel someday?
+derLPMaxe Maybe.. but they will be vintage professional synths if I do.
8-Bit Keys That's cool. I also thought more that direction. "Vintage" is a very strechable term though.

Sounds like a General MIDI arrangement. I wonder if they shared some samples with Roland.
Casio always shared the same Sounds from Roland and some others just for some of their Keyboard models. They had to cheat I guess?
I loved the song! I listened to both versions of the Lemmings song and they were both great!
Admittedly I haven't played the original Lemmings. I did play a version called Pingus on Linux which was like Lemmings but you were trying to get penguins to safety.
Both versions? There are at least 20 versions of the Lemmings soundtrack.
I've thought about getting the sa76 to play in bed or on the couch or on vacation. Any other one you could think of ? Something light, 49 ish keys that's new and decent size keys maybe even sensitive keys?
The bass is canon...
We are using this keyboard in music-theory in school!
Who is checowski?
That is not how you pronounce tchaikovsky(sc) - chy(as in cry)-kov-ski
Awesome vid! Keep up the good work! :D
Transposing...
Wait, isn't there an octave switch on the SA-76?
If not, I might want to try to circuit bend an octave switcher onto the one I bought in the future.
The stylophone would fit perfect
After listening to this song a few times I realized it does have a resemblance to Canon in D. The chord progression is the same, but the melody is different. Compare the rhythm in this to the bass notes in the original song.
it starts at 3:20
How did you record this to your computer?
use a stylophone
If David Murray could have it on his unboxings but...
This has some resemblance to "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis (1995)...
very cool
Excellent stuff! It is the ground bass from Pachelbel's Canon, just with the actual canon parts replaced by something else, so that makes it... not sure what, but calling it Pachelbel's Canon really doesn't seem right!
You can press two buttons (Tone and Pattern) together and tune it down 99 cents (99% of a semitone). It'll work.
i have that keyboard and use it sometimes
0:44 Actually, the DOS version doesn't give it names. Its "official" name, at least in the Windows and SNES versions, is just "Lemming 1".
1:44 The more he goes on, the more it sounds like the Amiga version.
What are the notes on the keys? does it start as F,G then so on, or C,D,E?
Let him sleep... my baby 😡
This keyboard has the same sound chip as the casio ht-700 synth
It's PCM though, not analog
you are the best!!!
i just want her to sit there playing while all them all walk into the ocean and fail to float.
i forgot how to play key instruments.
You should try the Casio CTK-491
I have the Casio SA 77 which is exactly the same as this one (same look, same instruments with the same number,...), I belive the only difference is that mine has a European Mainland AC Adaptor because I'm European :)
Why are you looking at the DOS version??? The Amiga version is the original and should have been used.
Hi Mr. 8 bit. Are you going to putting the sheet music on your website? Also didnt they create a C64 keyboard that overlayed the C64? Yse that for a video!

Jack Johnson No efense, but, your coment could use some editing...
Omg memories....... memories everywhere...... :O :D
What cable do you use to record the song?
can you do Proyect x on the amiga with several synths with your friends maby i think that would be awsome
1:02
!!! I used to work for Fry's Electronics, I quit on April 13th!
Was it a Friday?
Nope, Wednesday.
That place sucks as a salesman.
madcat789
...not surprised!
3:43 - There is a wrong note played there...
voice 74 sounds like "choir aah" on yamaha psr 320
A lot of the sounds are licensed from yamaha though
Casio Loops N' Trax
Butterfly
Do a review of that keyboard.
Lovely, should have been longer than 41 seconds though.
