Cindy, if shadecloth was nailed on the outside of pallets, the pigs cant pull it off. The open front gives enough fresh air, but otherwise cold and draughty. Think about the mats, and straw the edges. But floor imperative to be dry, and clear so newborns all have a chance at a nipple...to survive. Add a bundle of lucerne for comfort food.
Good to see Giedre and Andrius back at Bela Pedra, with Ray, after the first visit when they first arrived in Centro. G and Andrew are so nice and so funny 💖. They are such good neighbors with Ray and his wife. Very good of the guys to team up to take down your trees that escaped Luke's chainsaw. They did great. G made a very good mushroom rock spokesmodel for the cover of Bela Pedra magazine! 😄 Will this team get some of your very pretty cinnamon rolls or a piglet? Guffy seem enchanted with the kune kunes, what a good boi. I liked how your kitten came over to greet the visiting doggos, that's the sociable one😺 bc you said the other prefers to stay back & observe. So cool you got to see Raymond as and Sandra on their home turf. They've been so kind to help many of you in Centro. Lu and Daddy are so cute 😍.
great community indeed! Not only did they fell the tree, but even chopped it up. And most importantly, everyone seems to have had a great time together, cinnamon rolls being a part of it. Your shots of the Netherlands looked a lot like our land in Germany right now: lots of mushrooms I don’t know anything about, autumnal light shining through the trees … Sorry for the little one, he seemed to be a fighter
That was nice to have G and Andrea's to chop that big tree down, now you have plenty of winter fuel. It's so nice to see friends looking out for you.❤🏴
Cindy you have such nice neighbours. I follow their chanels too. Lots of 😘😘😘😘😘🤗🤗🤗 for all of you. Peace, health and enjoy every moment when people ara together❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Enjoyed this off-grid crossover immensely, especially with Guffy❤. All of you have a wonderful sense of humour, which is a requisite for farm life. The Excalibur experts😂😂.
@@CindyVine If you ever find yourself with a surplus, Carissa & Iwan seem to buy wood several times a winter. Others too, i'm sure. Maybe you can invite them over to glean sections of Bela Pedra which would help your tidying round (fallen/felled tree limbs and such)? Baked goods will be icing on lure! 😊
Hi Cindy, thinking about the loss of piglets...one gets indoor and outdoor carpeting. It's firm but has no loose fibres. Perfect for a floor on the birth boxes.Maybe local supplier or Amazon / Temu. You won't need much. Perhaps straw pokes little eyes and gets in the way. Also to cover the pallets with green shade cloth imperative. Will keep draughts out and just kinder for birthing mum and babies. Why are the floors muddy? A good cover of thick builders plastic then the outdoor rug 🙏🏻A trench dug around the outer area where water is seeping to drain away. Stones lying around and wood all can be used to prevent mud happening in birth boxes.😢 You can't afford to lose piglets. Do you have lights on area as some were stolen previously as I recall. 🐖🙏🏻
Cindy, i see online a pig farrowing mat is use by members of American kunekune assc. It makes good sense...at least floor dry for mother and her offspring. Think about it.🙏🏻😢
I dislike seeing tree felling without adequate clothing..previous life of carting foresters to hospital with bits of body messed up. Chainsaw trousers and safety footwear are a must in my humble opinion. I'd say gloves too.
@embracethechaosPortugal Hi, I can tell you Ray has had a telling off for not wearing his shin guards, he did have them with him, but I wasn't there to remind him, regards Martine.
Should the livestock and pets not be kept well away from those felling trees and splitting lumber? You would never forgive yourself for allowing mr. greeen shirt (show off) to unsafely chop some of the pieces, if he hurt himself! The back of the second axe can be used to hammer the first axe through the piece. A slege hammer and wedge work better on fresh harvested wood. Thoughts from ex loggers in B.C., Canada. No "like" today.
What an amazing supporting community there is in Portugal!! I love it. The axe cutting group was especially impressive!!
The best!

The shadecloth the pigs pulled off was nailed to the outside. The pigs don't eat lucerne, they turn their noses up at it.
Fussy lot!😂
It's nice to see G and Andrew on your farm 😊
They are a fun couple!

I had shade cloth on the houses but pigs destroy it. If carpets were a good idea all the pig farms would use it instead of straw.
Awesome neighbor.
❤️👍

I will think about importing them from America.
The piglet passing has broken my heart.
It was very sad!

He did have gloves and good footwear

Oh rip piglet.😢
🥲
Ofcourse cutting small bits on your own land is a bit different, but here in Portugal the landowner is liable for any incidents.
👍
Sorry about piglet.
It was sad!

We did make sure they were out of the way and thanks for the tip!
