    Today is, in equal parts, a recipe day and a rant day. Good news is, it’s also a short one, so it’s not all that bad. It’s winter solstice, so the shortest vid of the year on the shortest day of the year makes sense.

    Thank you so much for “spreading” your wings. This has been a super weird Christmas for me, because.... I usually have at least a couple of days off before Christmas because school lets out around a week before. Well, not this Christmas. We get the 24th off. That’s it. It’s Tuesday. When am I going to have time to get my tree up??? Wrap presents??? Bake cookies??? Just such a weird Christmas.

      I’m so sorry! This has been a weird year; had to shut down the website just to get a few minutes of peace during this time. Damn it, we deserve it!

    Our soaps are just great in general for stains. I pulled white panties out of the washer that were stained. Rubbed some 100% olive oil soap on there and bam. All clean

    I 100% understand it’s soap, but in the back of my mind I’m thinking about oils staining the shirt. Probably because I have a lot of PTSD stemming from splash back while cooking/frying in my favorite shirts lol

    I wonder if letting my coconut dish soap sit overnight is why it always wants to crack.

    I will say that I made a batch of rebatch that just didn't turn out well, very crumbly (I wasn't paying very close attention to it and I think it overcooked). It contained soaps with anywhere from a 2-5% SF and I use it as a detergent booster or straight up laundry detergent. I don't notice any oils on my clothes, if anything maybe they're slightly softer as if I were to use a fabric softener. I like it and it's better than tossing it out, so in my not so educated but trial and error opinion, a little SF is fine for laundry. Not as a stain stick though lol - stick to your recipe for that haha

    It would be very cool to make them to fit a deodorant dispenser if some sorts to hold them

      Cool idea! These were for a zero waste store that requires zero packaging, but pouring into tubes would be great!

    Nice. I forgot my citric acid in my dish soap 🙈. My water is very hard. It’s now working well for me 🤣. Do you think I could shave it, add citric acid & water? I love deep dives.

    This is so cool, thanks so much for sharing this!!
    I'm wondering, was your hand feeling a little numb? I noticed it was quite red and had an elastic around your wrist so I was like trying to catch your attention to tell you but I guess you didn't hear me! 😂

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  2 роки тому +3

      Ha! That was so nice of you to notice! I actually have weird reactions for several days after dental work when they do the numbing thing, and they’ve been working hard on keeping my teeth in my head after the tumble. So it’s water retention following that. Hopefully I’ll be done with all of that on the 29th! 🤞

    Do you have any recommendations or suggestions, for a good soap making book for beginners?
    I've been doing m&p for several years, but am very interested in cold/hot process soap making also.
    I've got one book, but I'm a little "turned off" because the author just heavily bashes the use of micas, "unethically" harvested oils & so on.
    I just want something to teach me without jamming someone's personal beliefs or "politically correct" opinions down my throat while I'm trying to learn something.
    Thank you😘
    I hope you and your family have a Blessed and beautiful Christmas🙏💖

    Whar is the shelf life?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  2 роки тому +1

      Hey! The shelf life of soap? Well, if you live in a country that requires expiration dates, they tend to go by the expiration date of the oils, which is roughly a year. In the US, we have no such requirements. Many soapers have soaps that they made decades ago and are still great! Have fun!
