    Hello!
This is very nice level design, simple and do great work as a "Proof of Concept". Someone already mentioned that abilities from your video are too different from the in game abilities. But I still would like to watch other levels for other characters.
I would really appreciatea video from level design process of Death Match map for Overwatch gameplay

i'd love to see a "grandmaster" course for one of the heroes who already have a course. as opposed to being a challenge with learning your abilities, it could be a routing challenge to be able to complete it at all.

I think it's totally possible to make a very difficult level, but it's kinda going against the purpose and direction of Hero Mastery mode.
Sure, it can be done, but would it teach anything about hero abilities or moves?? If not, it brings little value to the game.
As a player I would like that too. However, as a dev I would not consider adding a hard HM level, since Overwatch's main focus is on online battles and PVP modes first.
But I'm not working for Blizzard, so maybe they have another plan :)

even if this is a level-design oriented video, i find quite disappointing how surface-level your analysis of Pharah's gameplay is.
the abilities you coded in look nothing alike to the actual gameplay: the hover-jet lasts indefinetly (one of Pharah's main mechanics is managing her very short airtime), the rocket deals too much damage, you're not supposed to move during Barrage...
it kind of influences your level design and you end up designing a course for your own gameplay and not Pharah's. this wouldn't fit in the actual game.
i would've also liked to see a more thorough analysis of your process of level design, as you basically skimmed through it in a few seconds and just proceeded with the walkthrough.
this format has alot of potential, so i encourage you to keep on working on it!

      Thank you for your feedback!
You are right; I left Pharah's abilities as prototypes. There are no cooldowns, med-kits, enemy HP, AI, and other features. The whole level is a first pass and doesn't represent the final game experience. It's a prototype meant to serve as a concept for future iterations and improvements. However while building the level, I considered the actual game experience and had Pharah's abilities in mind. For example, Area 1 has a hole to teach players about the short Hover Jet duration, as I mentioned in the walkthrough.
I understand your point, and I should explain my design decisions in more detail. I kept the video short to keep it fun and avoid a lengthy tutorial. I will try to find a better balance in my next videos.

@@kirbuyanin honestly, there isn't enough long-form Level Design content online! only the 3D Level Design guidebook comes to mind ("In Pursuit of Better Levels") and some GDC talks/streams (the valorant level designer one comes to mind).
Alot of game dev youtubers try and make short form,

Hero mastery is such a wasted opportunity by blizzard
it could've been a walk through or training drills for common scenarios
but alas, its a weird coin collector than an actual teaching tool
mastering the "mastery" mode won't do you any good at the real games

its to get to know the tip and tricks of an individual hero, not to improve team play. Thats gamblet and arcade gamemodes
