okay, in covid times w/ short supply: FOAMING glass cleaner and a norwex (or similar) microfiber cloth. Let sit on surface about 20 seconds. Comes off. No film so far.

Sunscreen works even better. I had sharpie on a whiteboard for about two months and tried all three of those and it wouldn't come off. Put a bit of sunscreen on it and it wiped right off

Windex works! For some reason I had the idea to use it out of desperation and it TOTALLY worked! Plus the board has a better "slip" (very smooth surface) when erasing.

I even tried the expo eraser and spray and made it worse. Thank you for this idea! We had plenty of sanitizer to clean them all!

I had deep whiteboard shadows that didn’t come out even with 70% alcohol and other cleaners. I didn’t have immediate access to 90% alcohol at home . . . but did have hand sanitizer. The sanitizer was a miracle! Shadows gone. Thanks immensely for your solution!
Tks John !! it worked, I use 99% alcohol, it was such an easy process. It did not come as white as yours but it was not high quality white board to start with. Only few lite pinkish shades remain. I had tried other store-bought expensive product before, they did not do the job they claim but alcohol 99% did. Tks again for posting
Yo thank you so much, I realized parfume should work since I didnt have cleaning alcohol. And it worked like a charm! So for anyone not having alcohol, hand sanitizer, just use a cheap parfume you've got in the house.

I had some isopropyl alcohol and I tried that because of your video and wow! It looks like a new whiteboard!

I have a small, magnetic whiteboard on my refrigerator that I bought for jotting down items I needed to get at the grocery store. Used the 'erasable' pen (sheeyeahright!) that came with the board, but it eraser on the end was completely useless. I tried just about everything, but most of the dry erase ink stayed on the board. Thought I was going to have to throw it away, then I found your video. My first pass was with gel hand sanitizer (? alcohol content), which worked to get only some of the ink off. Next, I tried a stronger 80% alcohol content liquid hand sanitizer, which got most of the remaining ink off. Lastly, I tried hydrogen peroxide, but that was like using water - no change on the ghosted writing that remained. Have to go to WalMart tomorrow and will look for 90%+ rubbing alcohol. Thanks so much for your video!!! It helped a lot! (Will only be using the board with magnets from now on.)

Sunscreen works well too !! Even a thick moisturizing lotion will do. After cleaning the board with sunscreen/ moisturizer, there are two more steps: 1) Wipe it with a damp cloth. 2) Wipe it with a dry cloth. The result is amazing.

Well, I didn't have alcohol so I used a body spray which contains 95% of Ethyle alcohol and it works! THANK YOU SO MUCH BROTHER

I have found that permanent marker can be removed by writing the dry eraser over the permanent, then erase!

In my classroom, I use a good quality microfiber towel, water and elbow grease. Works every time, always available.
