I'm glad that you found it helpful. You'll find that people don't like to give exact temperature setting because there is so much variance from one piece of equipment to the next. That said, it's nice to have a rough idea which is why I let people know what works for me. You have to adjust accordingly.
Thanks for this, I need to do this for my laptop! Makes you wonder why they don't just make a separate USB C board with easy to remove internal ribbon... Ports must be the most common parts to need replacement after shattered screens and dead batteries on mobile devices
Excellent video. Thanks for going into such careful detail showing and explaining. It has helped me know for sure that I don't want to attempt this repair. 😅
best video i have seen so far, brilliant pic quality i have struggled up to now trying to replace one but feeling confident again now i have watched this!
What tips do you recommend for soldering hdmi ports on ps4 & xbox one and also to solder nintendo switch and other charging ports? I have the hakko FX888D soldering station.
Hello, good day to you. What can I do if after the replacement the value .718 in diode mode is .202? The console charges the battery, and I think power on because the logic board turns warm but has no image. Thank you for your comments and assistance.
I could but it would be a lengthy response. There is a good explanation in the comments section here: electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/366143/using-diode-mode-on-my-multimeter-to-debug-circuits-a-good-idea
My iron is set to 840C. You want a good sized tip and be sure to work on the board while it is still warm. Plenty of flux and add some leaded solder if necessary.
Ma switch charge parfaitement mais n'affiche rien sur la TV , faut-il changer le connecteur type c ? (le docks est neuf est fonctionnel tester sur une autre switch)
Is that rosin you’re putting on the board for protection against heat? I always wondered on UA-cam videos, it may be second nature for an experienced solderer but almost every video I’ve seen skipped the step saying what they’re putting on the board and why.
Tylor Boland I have the same problem! I haven’t been able to find any new solutions, but I don’t wanna pay $ for a replacement just yet if it’s an angling issue
Those back two holes were a GIANT pain in the butt. I should have done the hot air + wick... Cause I nearly mangled the poor board with my iron trying to wick it out.
Do you do this service for ppl I’ll be glad to ship mine out depending on price. I don’t trust myself and I’m pissed I replaced the battery thinking it was the battery did it myself but this is way more complicated than a battery replacement. Dammit I’m disappointed,
why would nintendo make it so complicated... ugh. thank you, this video helped but i know i wont be able to do this... im gonna burn that board for sure lol
I was just curious about this and in my mind i was my brother mike is able to repair this at no ease hahah and than i saw this video great job mike
Thanks Sesar.
Thank you for telling all the settings and describing the elements we need. The other videos did not do that and it is very necessary for us beginners

Repair is a business too... Don't wanna make things too easy to where people won't pay other to do it...
Thanks alot for this informative video and especially for the diode readings. Have my first Switch port infront of me and crossing fingers.

Hey, thanks for watching! Happy to help you make a decision regarding the repair.
Thanks, there's a million of those videos but none that are that detailed!
Thanks for the video Mike! I followed what you exactly and on my first try I have a success!! Thanks buddy!
Loving the awesome image quality Mike!
Thank you Harrvey. I appreciate your support.
Thanks for the vid. Good work, zooming, explaining and displaying the work. You should provide this service, Looks pretty tough
best video i have seen so far, brilliant pic quality i have struggled up to now trying to replace one but feeling confident again now i have watched this!
I like your independence process, thank you.
Thanks for the comment!
How much is the cost for that service, mines port is broken🙁
How do you "re-tin" like that (min 7:00). I can't seem to be able to do it without leaving a clump of solder
Flux is the answer, makes everything a ton easier. I use some from aliexpress straight from china. RMA-223 is the name

Thanks for the diode readings =)
Great work! Can I ship you my Son's switch for the same repair?
5:40 What kind of flux and solder. Leaded 40/60

Nice video. What board holder are you using in the video?
Is this possible without heat gun? Only with the soldering ?
damn this is hard. I needed 2 hours only for the 2 holes 🤦♂️
can you explain the measurement that you did (diode mode ) why you put the red probe on ground .?
I could but it would be a lengthy response. There is a good explanation in the comments section here: electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/366143/using-diode-mode-on-my-multimeter-to-debug-circuits-a-good-idea
Hi
Clear, concise & truely educational ! Bravo !!
Kind regards
Thank you!
Are you using regular aluminum foil to cover the area around the usb c connector or is it another material?
It's an adhesive foil tape that is a bit thicker than aluminum you'd use in the kitchen. I believe it's called Nashua.
Thanks for the video. I'm currently fighting the solder in those holes! I think my iron isn't set up correctly. What temperature did you use roughly?
My iron is set to 840C. You want a good sized tip and be sure to work on the board while it is still warm. Plenty of flux and add some leaded solder if necessary.
How did you add solder to raise the pads without the connector getting solder together?
Flux and not too much solder.
Thanks for that's great video!! What are the temperature for solder and hot air station?

Ok I’ve heard you call it flux and I’ll read up on it
I have a cut on my switchs port, what do I do? It won't turn on.
How replacement xbox series x controller usb type c port
I need video
???
do you offer repairs.
My brother replaced my charger port and now when charging it, the cable must be a specific direction and it won't connect to a dock. Any idea why?
Tylor Boland I have the same problem! I haven’t been able to find any new solutions, but I don’t wanna pay $ for a replacement just yet if it’s an angling issue
If you are still curious after 6 months: Your brother probably didn't get the second(hidden) row of pins to connect to the pads correctly.
Those back two holes were a GIANT pain in the butt. I should have done the hot air + wick... Cause I nearly mangled the poor board with my iron trying to wick it out.

Lol this why i watch NorthridgeFix
Thank you
Well, I followed this 100% and I just couldn't get the pins to attach. Once I lost the battery charging port and burnt my hand, I was done.
Can i pay you to fix mine
Yes. Please contact me here: gocellphonerepair.com/get-a-quote/
why would nintendo make it so complicated... ugh. thank you, this video helped but i know i wont be able to do this... im gonna burn that board for sure lol
Oh god don't solder it like this, use soldering paste...
How much is the cost for that service, mines port is broken🙁
$99. You can contact me here for more info: gocellphonerepair.com/get-a-quote/
