I think this then goes on to cause that cognitive dissonance within if you fall for their double bind crazy making. One of the Narcs that I dated would always say things that were so hypocritical. First during the first devaluation he told me he could never love me that he knows his heart. He couldn’t find anything intrinsically wrong with me I just was not lovable to him. And then later I was told why can’t I accept he’s no longer in love with me. Confusing. I thought he could never love me how could he now be out of love with me? Complete mind effing
It could be. Cognitive dissonance is that uncomfortable feeling you get when you have two (or more) conflicting beliefs or values. When you aren't sure whether you are doing or saying the right thing due to experiencing double-bind communication, this can most definitely lead to cognitive dissonance.

He has been using double bind on me. Is he truly trying to destroy me?
Is cognitive or emotional dissonance a clue or sign you have been double binded?
