Wow, I am impressed with your collection. I start late and right now I have bought only 2 Dutch oven 24 cm one signature and one deep . I decided to start with Cerise as this color more or less is primary color line. But I start to glace at other color as well. It would be nice to have a rainbow collection. I think.
Thank you for watching! Yes, I started out wanting and all green collection but the more colors I saw the more I wanted to add more color...and we ended up with more of a rainbow collection, LOL
Beautiful collection!! Thanks for sharing!! As a Le Creuset user, I had few observations and comments: - The black phenolic knobs on your two flame-colored Dutch ovens are different - the older one you bought at an estate sale had a newer knob that’s found on the Signature line of Le Creuset pieces, whereas the knob on the second flame-colored one you showed had a flatter top. The way I understand it, Signature pieces are primarily found in full-line Le Creuset retail stores (non-outlets), and other full-price retailers such as Williams Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Sur la Table, etc. Signature pieces may also have the steel or brass knobs by default, which are the same shape as the phenolic knob on the first flame-colored Dutch oven you showed. By contrast, Le Creuset outlet pieces (and pieces found at off-price retailers such as Home Goods or Marshall’s), generally only come with the flatter-topped black phenolic knobs. Of course they can be changed out. - Le Creuset outlet pieces have smaller handles than their Signature line counterparts (as an example, my Signature 2 qt cerise Dutch oven has larger handles than my cobalt 5.5 qt Dutch oven that I purchased at a Le Creuset outlet). Cobalt is a color only sold through the outlets. - Ink is a beautiful color, but it’s exclusive to Crate & Barrel. Certain colors (like the aforementioned cobalt) are exclusive to the outlets, while others (such as cerise) are available through all retail channels, both full-line Signature stores, outlets, and other retailers (including off-price). - At the Le Creuset outlet I used to visit in Southern California, they would occasionally get miscellaneous Signature pieces in. I’m guessing they were overstock from other retailers, maybe even including their full-line Signature stores, but I’m not sure. They never had full sets of them, just random sizes and colors.
@@karenandmaya8329 I’ve been collecting since 2015, when I got my first piece, a Lapis 10” skillet (with a wooden handle!) from Williams Sonoma! How long have you been collecting for? What’s your favorite pot/pan to use?
@@clothestravel I have been collecting since 2010. My family was stationed in Heidelberg Germany and we took a little day trip over into France and I saw the Le Creuset store for the first time. @@karenandmaya8329 that’s great, I’m sure Le Creuset makes you feel nostalgic! Yeah, I didn’t know much about cookware prior to stepping foot for the first time inside a Le Creuset store back in 2015, but once I did, I was hooked like you! My collection isn’t as extensive as yours, but it’s a lot of fun! As a side note, my graphite (Crate & Barrel exclusive color) 1.75 qt saucepan and 3.5 qt sautése pan arrived yesterday! I’m really happy with the color, it almost has a matte finish, and the brass knob is really nice! It seems like the sautése has been on sale for a while, which makes me wonder if they plan on discontinuing it. And indeed, the braiser is very versatile. @@clothestravel Nostalgia is the best way to explain it for sure! :) I tend to wait for sales before I add a new piece to the collection and like you I am wondering if they are going to discontinue the sauteuse. After having a lesser Dutch oven recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (a Martha Stewart brand from Macy's) and not getting even results from the replacement Lodge Colors brand, I bit the bullet and shelled out big bucks for a 7¼-quart Le Creuset in Cerise (cherry red). I also have a 90th Anniversary Cocotte (#318 of 1925 made) in Le Creuset's original Flame orange. Would love to hear your opinion on when’s the time to buy if there any really good deals. I’m just starting to notice some of their sale trends but still too new to brand.
What an incredible collection, thank you for sharing! I’m getting ready to add a second piece to my collection, the first being a round 5.5 quart Dutch oven in cerise. I’m leaning towards a 3.5 quart braiser, is there any other piece that you’d recommend before that as far as usefulness? Also what are your two favorite colors? It’s really hard to pick when there are so many beautiful shades. I’m thinking one of the bluish shades, or maybe deep teal.
Hi David!! Thank you so much for watching! I use my 5.5 Dutch oven all the time. I have it in the color Flame. The Braiser is my all time favorite piece, I have two 3.5 in the colors Cool Mint and Artichaut and I just recently picked up the 5qt Braiser and I am enjoying trying out different recipes with it. I would definitely recommend getting an 3.5qt Essential oven aka (Sauteuse) It can be used for almost anything and it is right between the dutch oven and braiser in terms of how much the sides can hold. I have two and use them both at least 3 or 4 times per week. My two favorite colors would be Nectar and the new color Chambray. They are such lovely colors, but then again, as you can see from my collection I am not good at sticking to one color. lol, Happy Cooking!
What an impressive collection!! I hope you can give me a suggestion. I have an 8 qt dutch oven, and a 2 3/4 qt #22 (chef's oven I believe), The later was purchased a few years after the d/o, since I used the d/o so much I thought I'd use the c/o too. It is such an odd shape and being smaller I very rarely use it, I tend to grab a regular 2qt sauce pan instead for steaming veg. or boiling things. Do you have any suggestions on what I might use it for? I hate that it's just sitting there. Btw, I cook for 1 with enough for leftovers mostly. I was fortunate enough to buy both at close out stores for awesome prices. I'm thinking to d/o was less then the other! Thank you in advance if you can suggest anything.
Hi Macycharmin! Thank you for the awesome question, I like that the sizes are opposite of each other. The 2 3/4 c/o would be great to use for smaller servings of baked ziti, a baked Mac n cheese, or cooking your rice and other grains. This is what I typically use this size for. My daughter Maya uses this size to make a one pot ramen recipe. I hope this was helpful. Happy Cooking!
