This kit was so wonderful it got me started on my adventure in cp soap making. The directions were easy to follow and it came out just like the picture, beautiful! Thank you Brambleberry
Hi, I'm a beginner with making soap with lye. I do have three years of experience with the melt and pour. I'm finally ready to start learning how to make cold press soap. I've been watching and saving your videos there very helpful. Do you know how I would make cold press soap making a shampoo bar I want to use bentonite clay, rhassaul clay ,amala powder ,aloe powder and a few organic oils. How much lye would I use.? Thanks for reading any help would be appreciated
@@bramble-berry Thank you for sharing this. I have a small business and I want to make clay shampoo bars for my clients. I use the actual clay on my hair and the messiness doesn't bother me. However, I know people are about more convince and a low maintenance wash day.
We sell them on our website! www.brambleberry.com/shop-by-product/tools-and-accessories/containers/easy-pour-mixing-and-measuring-container/V000054.html
Thank you for the presentation. I ordered the package and was following your video along with the instructions from the package to make soap and I noticed a disconnect. The instructions from the package to make vs this video for when to add the sodium lactate are different. Should I put the sodium lactate in prep with the lye as you did in the video or in step 4 of the instruction paper I got from the package.
They can go in a kitchen microwave too, but you'll want to wipe up any soap or oil splatters in the microwave after soap projects to make sure it's safe for food after.
I know that salt makes soap harder and a bit drier. What about switching it for sugar to make it bubblier? Would this recipe be able to handle to swap? (Understanding the curing will take longer)

I just subscribed to your channel, I will definitely get the kit, I’m learning and going to be doing my own products!❤️🙏🏽🥰😍Do you have to put it in the microwave, I thought microwaves not good?
For best results we recommend using your cold process bars within 1 year. They are ready to use after 4 week of curing. We recommend this article as a great starting point for beginners: www.brambleberry.com/tips-and-tricks/soap/art0004-beginners-guide-to-cold-process.html
The weather can affect soap making, here's a link to our article with more information: www.brambleberry.com/ingredient-information/oils-and-butters/art0175-making-soap-in-the-summer.html
Yes absolutely! You will lose quite a bit of the original scent in the process of making the bars so you will still want to scent it with some sort of fragrance or essential oil.

The Sodium Hydroxide reaction with the oils will turn into soap. All soap will lather. Soaps made of surfactants generally lather more and in less ideal conditions such as in hard water.
Lye is caustic (aka caustic soda) and in this form very concentrated. If splashed in the eye the solution can cause severe burns and possibly blind you. If you get it on skin it can burn. The batter on skin will usually just itch but can burn. A rinse really well with water will usually be fine if it’s a little bit, if you’re burned you may need medical attention. Sodium Hydroxide is also used in food production in controlled amounts for preservative and to make b.ombs. If your plastic container has a 2 or a 5 on the bottom in the little triangle it can be used to make soap. I personally mix lye solution in a stainless steel pitcher and weigh lye in a glass Pyrex. Natural doesn’t mean it can’t be dangerous. It’s like plants that can poison you if consumed.
Poison ivy is also natural but you wouldn't want it on your skin. Just because something is natural doesn't automatically make it safe. Another example would be bitter almond pits. They contain cyanide.

Oh wow that's great, really want to have a go at this xx
I can’t wait to buy this kit.
Love it! I put this kit in my cart.👏👏👏
The validation / verification process that you do is fantastic. This is an on camera val / ver. Can you tell I work around engineers? 😁
It didn’t show when you added the liquid sodium lactate in at what point do you add that into
You want to add the sodium lactate to your cooled lye water, before you pour it into your oils for emulsification.
@@bramble-berry ok thank you
Good presentation! You've come a long way throughout the years. 😉

@@naturalhairkhronicles5790 lye made soap shouldn't be used on the hair. The ph isn't appropriate.
Can you PLEASE do a tutorial on yoni bars? I would greatly appreciate it😊
We will definitely look into making a video on these soaps!

Great question! We recommend adding it to your cooled lye water - around 130-150° F is best.
Great video! Newbie here. I really don't care for palm oil, Can I use a different oil instead like grapeseed or olive oil? Thank you
Absolutely, Babassu oil and tallow are great substitutes for palm oil.
Can soap ingredients go in a food used kitchen microwave? Or so u need a separate microwave? Thanks!
They can go in a kitchen microwave too, but you'll want to wipe up any soap or oil splatters in the microwave after soap projects to make sure it's safe for food after.
@@bramble-berry awesomeness, thanks
Can you please do a turmeric honey melt and pour soap?
That's a wonderful idea, thank you for your suggestion 💜
If I put this in the freezer overnight will it keep the soap from partially gelling?
Yes, that will absolutely help prevent gel phase from happening to your loaf.
I’m in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and I find your videos very very helpful…and interesting.. don’t know how I could get your products 😢
We cannot ship to Nigeria so you will want to look around locally for businesses that sell these ingredients!

You could make the swap for this recipe :)
Shame we cannot get any off this in the uk x

You can also melt them in a double boiler. Microwaving them is just quicker. It doesn't degrade the oils with either method.
@@bramble-berry thank you so much
Won't soap loose its smell if we put under the fan while curing? Thank you!
The fan won't change the scent of the soap while it's curing
Can I use cosmetic grade oils in my soap? Will the quality of my soap be compromised?
You're welcome to use cosmetic grade oils in soap.
Does it have to be distilled water or would just plan filtered water.
We recommend making soap with distilled and not filtered water.

Botanicals mold on/in soaps am I not correct?
Some botanicals can mold - especially ones with a high moisture content. We've had success with our lavender buds as they are fully dry.
I want to ask if wheather condition effect cold soap making
plz any answer

Hello! Can we use lavender hydrosol instead of water?
Yes absolutely! You will lose quite a bit of the original scent in the process of making the bars so you will still want to scent it with some sort of fragrance or essential oil.
@@bramble-berry Thank you so much! ❤️
Is oxide pigment the same as mica pigment?
They are two different mineral pigments! Oxides use iron oxide, and micas use mica pigment.
Do you need to check the ph of the soap, if so how do you do it.
If you would like to check the pH of your cold process soap recipes you can use a pH test strip in the lather of the bars.
Stainless steel also has aluminum inside it
Generally stainless steel isn't also used with aluminum since it would corrode.

Anne Marie, do you have a FB group page?
We do have a Facebook Page: facebook.com/BrambleBerry
14:15 How much sodium lactate was added?
We suggest adding 1 tsp of sodium lactate per pound of oils in the recipe.
Since it is "soap" why can't you use your regular kitchen supplies, why do you need separate things?
We recommend having different supplies because the lye and fragrance can get stuck in the cracks the bowls and tools, even with thorough washing
My question is, if the soaps are natural why do we have to use gloves and glasses?
I think it has something to do with lye. And heat melts plastic

Because of the lye
Lye is caustic and can cause eye damage. You can go blind from lye water bein in contact with your eyes
